I have mine set up so the Ventrilo server is 192.168.1.6 (my local IP), but when I give my external IP to my friends so they can connect it won't let them join. When I try to use my external IP on the Ventrilo client it won't let me connect either. Help?

I set up my router so that I don't need to port forward using a different video, but I asked there and received no help. I get an error message saying that it could not connect, I have checked my IP repeatedly and am using the free version. I changed all the settings you suggest and nothing else. My server is running and the Vent site to check servers says it's fine, but no one can connect. Any ideas?

I need help with port fowarding. So I got the router ActionTec MI424WR Verizon and using 192.168.1.1 When I put in 192.168.1.1 it tells me to log in, but not to ActionTec, but Verizon, and i cant seem to be able to log in. Username = Admin Pass= Password. And i also tried my real verizon email, but when i try to type in the password, 1 click and like 3 more dots appear. I cant log in,

Any ideas?

Hello.

I've got a problem which I have been unable to solve for over year..

When I setup the ventrilo server, I can join myself for it ONLY with the LAN-ip but without my computer's internet connection ip. And ofcourse also nobody can join the server via internet.

Any ideas to fix?

Ive done everything in this video and looked everywhere and cant figure out why mine is not working. I've set it up properly. set up port forwarding. disabled all firewalls. and i still am getting the "unable to connect to specified server". i am soooo confused i purchased a slot of 40. i think i have done everything wrong. when i was asked to sign up they asked for host name and some password right away that i knew nothing about so i just put in a name for host. then i found ur video, and followed the steps until i got stuck again. in note pad where the settings are mine says server 1 infact the whole thing is a bunch of 1 and 0's did i miss something before i set up? i am so lost . pls help. thank you.

I did everything in this video and others that I saw and it still didn't work. I messed around with the router settings on my Netgear router and solved the problem. Under WAN settings, enable DMZ and put your local IP address in: 192.168.1.? Apply and wait for it to update, then start your Vent server and connect. While connected change your WAN settings back to DMZ disabled (security reasons) and the Vent client should disconnect and then reconnect in a few seconds. =D

If you can't connect to the Netgear router, you may want to run a wire and connect directly to it (as opposed to wireless). You should be able to connect without any problems. As for the admin name and password, I know the default admin name is "admin" and I think the default password is "password", but I'm not entirely sure.
