  • are there bears around where you live?

  • @c00lb0y10 Yes, there certainly are bears here though they are not commonly seen. The Asian black bear is not too large though it can be dangerous if startled or threatened. Thanks for watching! ~Kurt :-)

  • I love how your "hasty" hike included so many stops to look at spiders, Fuji-san, trees, etc. :D

  • Given the population density of Japan, do you often meet other hikers?

  • @SargonBighorn There are many hikers in Japan though I rarely see any... This is because Japanese people prefer to hike on well known, established trails while I rather hike on deserted farm roads and strange out-of-the-way places. Thanks for watching! ~Kurt :-)

  • That view of Mt Fuji is breathtaking. If I ever go to Japan, I'm sure I'll be overwhelmed by its beauty.

Thanks for posting this--it's the closest thing to hiking in Japan that I'll probably see in the immediate future. I always look forward to watching your videos.

  • Hello dmarie1184, I'm happy you could join me via the magic of YouTube. Have a happy holiday! -Kurt :-)

  • So perfect... Makes me melt.

  • Hello Bloozboy91, I'm glad that you enjoyed this outing and happy that you could come along. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Kurt :-)

  • wow the bit with emily made me lol :-P wonderful video

  • After watching this video I was thinking if there were places around my home where I could 'hike'. I don't really think there are. There are a couple of 'Woods' within a few miles that are owned and they let people in but you have to pay. No biggie. I love how you try to squeeze 'just one more shot'. I can appreciate that.

  • FUJII-SAAAAAAAAAAAN! I love that mountain! xD It's cool that you put out you videos like this^^ If I lived in Japan, I would go almost everywere! Some of my friends went to Kyoto and took pictures of all the tempels, and I was wishing that I could experience that some time... Aw, I so envy you! xP but I'm sure I'll get there one day in the future... Sorry, long comment! x] Anyway, best of luck on your upcomming hiking trips!

  • Hello xxKaoruLoverxx, I'm delighted that you could come along with me via YouTube. I hope that you get many chances to explore in Japan yourself in the future. Thanks again! -Kurt :-)

  • Awesome job, man.

Taking the time to appreciate all these things is what life is all about!

    5 stars!

  • Just cruising up for a mountain walk, checking out Fuji, rushing home to be greeted by a laughing happy daughter. What a great afternoon : )

  • Hello MicknFumi, It was indeed a fun hike. And I'm especially glad that you and others could join me via YouTube. -Kurt :^)

  • Shouldn't you be using ippon-ba geta to traverse that area? :)

  • Hello watcher8o, That would indeed be fun, especially along that narrow bridge. Now I need to think where I can find a pair of ippon-ba geta... -Kurt :-)

  • Wonderful softypapa, such a pleasure to be able to join you on your trips.

  • Hello yadsik, I'm delighted to have you along. Sometimes when I am walking alone in the hills I think about my YouTube friends and am grateful for your companionship and sharing. -Kurt :-)

  • Go Emily! Good sneaky ninja girl ^^

I like this video a lot, thanks for taking us with you on your hike! The mountain almost seems a familiar sight now, very neat!

    ~Kat

  • Hello Kat,

I'm glad that you could join me... I feel I've indeed been fortunate lately in witnessing some nice views of Mt. Fuji. However, a student of mine told me today that she saw an amazing sight yesterday of huge black clouds above and below the mountain with just the brightly sunlit summit peeking through a window of clouds. That must have been something! Thanks for coming along! -Kurt :-)

  • When, in this video, you first looked up and saw Fujisan, it took my breath away..and that was in a video. I cannot imagine the splendor and beauty of seeing that famous mountain in person.

    The spider was magnificent too!

Emily is such a pretty young girl..she will be a very pretty young lady too!

Thank you for the wonderful video.

  • Hello reymiland, You are indeed correct in noting the difference between a live and video sighting of this splendid mountain. There is something about the atmosphere around the summit of the mountain which causes the peak to stand out in contrast and I have never seen this effect captured in any images or video of the mountain. If you ever decide to see Fuji-san firsthand then let me know and I will be happy to guide you up to some great mountain viewing locations. -Kurt :-)

  • stitch is soooo cool
