  • wow thts rare....i saw this happen once at palasa station...it comes under the E.Co railway jurisdiction....even i was amazed seeing tht... only difference, they were with the WAG 7 Angul locos!!! will this train not be stopped ne whr in between?? even if they re stopped i don think one entire station from the starting to the next signal is enough!!

  • @shreyasnalco These trains get the highest priority, even more than Rajdhanis and Shatabdis, because of their excessive length. They cannot fit into any wayside station so if there's an oncoming Raj, it will be made to wait for this train.

  • Great video. Those sound a lot like the Alco's we had here in the US.

  • @kiatruck Thank you. These run on ALCO 251C-16 engines upgraded to produce 3100hp. :)

  • WAP7D : As of early 2011, this is a proposed loco design by RDSO - based on the WAP7, but with IGBT drives, and some changes to components resulting in a somewhat lower total weight.

  • @daredevil30000 Er..ok.

  • The signal man in the last boogie will hire auto to go to the front engine....

  • this i s one thing i have never seen.......why??? we have only 27 boogie separation at signals how did they pass

  • @sojoetj IR is trying out extra-long freight trains to maximise efficiency of goods haulage. These trains get preference over every other train simply because they won't fit into loop lines at stations. So even a Shatabdi or Rajdhani Express will have to wait for this train if it encounters a crossing.

  • The guard job must be a lonely one.....

  • @agmany Yeah

  • boss....u r one lucky irfcan who gets to c nd capture some very rear actions of IR.....gud luk nd i wish i too get as lucky as u

  • @kanwar620 Thanks :) there are people luckier than me here :D But I'm happy that I get some nice catches whenever I go out on a proper trip :) And I've got nothing to do with IRFCA :P

  • try railfanning on 16th jan 2011 and capture 2008

u hav a chance of seeing me

  • @KSaaluvesh hmm ok :)

  • how so many of u got the same video????

  • @KSaaluvesh All of us went together for a railfanning trip :P

  • @KSaaluvesh

5... not video but same train :P .....

  • The 7000 HP version of WAP7 will have a higher tractive effort of 42.0 tonnes. Also, it will have IGBT technology.

  • WOW! congrats and awesome work!

  • @fredd556 Thanks!

  • Wow! swesome work!

  • Congrats on your 300th video! and it was an unusual one and a good treat!!! And 300 videos in 365 days!!

  • @rajeesidh Thanks! :)

  • Which loco is comparatively more powerful? A WDG-4 or a WAG-9?

  • @daredevil30000 A WAG9 I guess...because it has more power and tractive effort...not sure :D :D

  • @dheerajrao

the difference between power is huge

    wag 9- 6350 hp

    wdg 4- 4000 hp

tractive effort of wag 9 is actually less

    wdg 4 - 55 tonnes starting

    wag 9 - 52.5 tonnes starting

but the large horse power difference compensates it all.

  • @shivamishaan yeah but I guess on tracks with lots of sharp inclines and curves the diesel locos are better

  • @daredevil30000

wag 9 is definitely more powerful

it can haul 4700 tonne load at 100 kph on 1:150 gradient

on 1:200 gradient and 5000 tonne load,

    the balancing speeds are:

    wdg 4- 88 kph

    wag 9- 107 kph

wag 9h is an even more powerful version

  • i more thing i would like to add

wdg 4 is up for another major upgradation when its powerpack will be upgraded to 5000 hp and emissions reduced another 10 %.

prototypes to roll out by mid 2012.

  • @shivamishaan ooh...then those will be enough :D Because there is no way any shed will use trains with locos in the middle :D Will it still be WDG4 or will they change the name to WDG5 or something?

  • Comment removed

  • @dheerajrao

FOR THE NAME, WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL 2012.

THIS VERSION IS TO BE USED EXCLUSIVELY FOR FREIGHT AND IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM WDP 4B ( WHICH IS ACTUALLY A PASSENGER LOCO WITH HIGHER TRACTIVE EFFORT THAN WDP 4, 39 TONNES AGAINST 27.5 TONNES).THIS 5000 HP VERSION IS GOING TO HAVE 2 MORE TRACTION MOTORS THAN PRESENT WDG 4.

  • @shivamishaan Hmmm...But the WDG4 already has 6 traction motors, one on each axle. How are they going to get in two more? :O

  • @shivamishaan

I AM SORRY, 2 MORE TRACTION MOTORS THAN THE WDP 4 BUT THESE WILL BE MUCH MORE ADVANCED.

  • @shivamishaan yeah that is obvious. Poor WDP4 struggles a lot on inclines because of the too-heavy trains that they give it! :\

  • @shivamishaan Okay! Which loco is more powerful? A WDP-4B or a WAP-7?

  • @daredevil30000 sorry for interrupting, but these two locos are totally different :P :P WAP7 is good on sections with no gradients like in N.India, but for sections with ghats and steep inclines, WDP4B, or any diesel loco is better.

  • @dheerajrao Thanks, dude!

  • @dheerajrao And one more thing. Diesel locos like WDP-4s can be operated on any B.G. route, whereas electrical locos like P-7s can be operated exclusively on electrified B.G. routes.

  • @daredevil30000 Yeah. Diesels have that advantage. :)

  • @dheerajrao

ALTHOUGH WAP 7 IS MUCH MORE POWERFUL ND CAPABLE OF HANDLING MUCH HIGHER LOADS, STILL FEEL WDP 4B IS MUCH BETTER SUITED FOR THOSE STEEP INCLINES.

A 7000 HP VERSION OF WAP 7 IS UNDER DEVELOPEMENT BY CLW

  • @shivamishaan Do you know something? A WAP7 can handle 16 heavyweight AC coaches single handedly on steep gradients such as 1:40.

  • WDG 3A

STARTING TRACTIVE EFFORT : 38 TONNES

CONTINUOUS TRACTIVE EFF : 29.3 TONNES

    WDG 4

STARTING TRACTIVE EFFORT : 55 TONNES

CONTINUOUS TRACTIVE EFF : 42.3 TONNES

SO, 4 WDG 3A HAVE 152 TONNES FORCE WHILE 2 WDG 4 HAVE 110 TONNES FORCE.

  • @shivamishaan So I was right :P But I guess THREE WDG4s would be enough, because the operating costs increase with the number of locos. Operating three locos would be cheaper than operating 4 locos. And anyway, these are trial runs before the big WDG6 comes. When the WDG6 is introduced, only two will be enough.

  • Two WDG-4 locos are more than enough to haul a heavy rake of 84 wagons.

  • @daredevil30000 yeah but for greater acceleration u need 4 locos :) tractive effort of 4 WDG3As is much more than that of two WDG4s :)

  • @dheerajrao But operating 2 WDG-4s is cheaper than operating 4 WDG-3As.

  • @daredevil30000

ON COMPARISON OF FUEL EFFICIENCY, A WDG 4 IS 45% MORE EFFICIENT THAN THE EARLIER ALCO WDM 2 AND 20% EFFICIENT THAN WDG 3A.

ALSO IF WE TALK ABOUT MAINTAINENCE SHEDULE, A WDM 2 REQUIRES MAINTAINENCE EVERY WEEK( 3500 KMS), A WDG 3A NEEDS TO GO TO SHED AFTER 20 DAYS AND A WDG 4 REQUIRES MAINTAINENCE EVERY 75 DAYS

SO IT IS HIGHLY COST EFFECTIVE.

  • @daredevil30000 Hmmm..yeah :)

  • JUST READ AN ARTICLE ON IRFCA NEWS COLUMN PAST WEEK. A GOODS TRAIN COMPRISING 108 SEMI FILLED WAGONS WAS HAULED ON LUCKNOW SECTION BY A SINGLE WAG 9 LOCOMOTIVE. SPEED WAS RESTRICTED TO 60 KPH.THE RUN WAS PRIMARILY FOR TESTS.

  • @shivamishaan That is very nice. Four GY WDG3As were spotted near YNK today with another long goods train. So I think Railways are getting serious about increasing the length of the freight trains.

  • @dheerajrao :) ya, not only that, we would see 120 wagon double stacked trains blasting above 100kph, hauled by single electric 12000 hp imported japneese locos(or twin emd 6000hp locos which railways aim to start making around 2014 at its bihar plant) in the future when the the freight corridor becomes operational around 2015-16.

  • @shivamishaan Yeah that is to be expected. But the WDP6/WDg6 proposal is still pending. it was proposed in 2005 :-\ Everything in india is slowed down by red tape.

  • @dheerajrao the proposal has been cleared. emd and ge were shorlisted on 14th august when technical bids were evaluated. . next step now are the financial bids. Also, even if general electric wins the contract, emd still would open a plant in india, as was said by emd india president. That is why i am sure that we would see 6000 hp emd diesels on indian tracks.

  • @shivamishaan What?! :O Oh that is awesome!!! I knew that EMD would be setting up an R&D Centre and a plant in India, but I never knew the proposal was cleared! That means we may get to see completely new locos from both EMD and GE(I hope GE wins the contract..EMD can join in later :P). Maybe that's the reason so many trials are going on all of a sudden.

  • @dheerajrao YES, AND PERSONALLY I AM IN FAVOUR OF GENERAL ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES BECAUSE OF THEIR HIGHER TRACTIVE EFFORT OVER EMD LOCOS.

THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS HOWEVER THAT GE LOCOS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE.

  • @shivamishaan Yeah..even though GE locos are costlier, it is the bestseller :D I hope the variety of locos increases here.

  • Sorry for the barrage of comments but the pictures on your picasa are amazing too. Especially liked the Munnar album.(Im planning to go there early next year!)

  • @jokerisherenow hehe no probs :P thanks!!

  • And congrats on the milestone :) You've averaging just under a video a day

  • @jokerisherenow Thanks again..yes but I take videos only once a week :P

  • I saw this same video on Natarankrishna's channel with the same title. Did you guys shoot it together?

  • @jokerisherenow There are two more videos from two more angles :D 5 of us had gone for Railfanning yesterday :)

  • Oh I see, thats nice :-p

  • @jokerisherenow :D Now if you wait for about fifteen minutes you'll get to see my first WAP7 video B-)

  • @dheerajrao Sure, I'll be right here.

  • @jokerisherenow It's ready :D

  • Great stuff man
