I appreciate her new musical interpretation of the piece, and artistically I think she gets it, but she's just too vocally immature to sing it. She's straining to hit those high notes (and not doing a very good job) give her few more years of maturing and she'll do just fine.
Her voice is from nature not bad.... very interesting timbre...I ve heard her many times live singing...but she is not a mature artist! She sings to much, to often the huge repertoire which she cant sing! She makes to much pressure and with not very good technique!! She is a little like an farmer. She have to sing more tuned and she needs more elegance in her voice! This have to be studied Signora! To make only every possible efford ist not enough....
she is greek.. i ve heard of her twice live in athens at herodium conservatory.once in otello and then at a concert casta diva, traviata etc...her high notes are breathtaking!
Despite the strained top notes I think this was a very good interpretation. And she gave us the crowning final Eb - this should be de rigeur for any great Violetta! (Netrebko´s physical beauty does not sufficiently compensate for the lack of thrilling acuti)
I've never heard a more visceral and hedonistic Violetta. It completely embodies the dismissive mood of Violetta at this point. 4.9/4.5 My only criticism is that the arms are a little much. Vocally spot on.
This is what I call pure Gree fire! 4,9/5 only because 5 is reserved for La Traviata of all times (again Greek). I dont care for the strained top notes, this is a very emotional performance, the way opera is meant to be performed and seen. Congratulations Dimitra!
Callas once remarked that the role of Gioconda touches on the borderline of acceptable singing. Here I would say there is a fine line between singing and screaming, and Theodossiou does some of both. She demonstrates the thrill and excitement of Violetta well, but her high notes are shrill and some of her coloratura is sloppy. It's an interesting mix. 3.5/4.5
I still dislike the high notes though they are in better shape than on other occasions. Her attacks on the throat are also painful to hear. Very committed however. 3/5
Theodossiou is a very bright and vivid Violetta. Her singing is secure, and I find her high notes thrilling! The final Eb crowns this aria wonderfly, it isn't whimpy or pushed. Overall 5/4!

I fully agree with you and I sincerely hope she will not follow the steps of Elena Souliotis.

Though her voice is a little too bright for this role, her pronunciations are beautiful. I love listening to her cleanly do this piece. <3

I wonder if the highnotes are that shrill live. I rather think that they are extremely strong and metallic. Wow!
Okay, her acting is a bit boring. But hey, remember Gilli. The singing is more important!

The note in 1:38/1:40 isn't nice... but I think the interpretation is very good and Theodossiou's voice is really beautiful.

Buena versión, muy buen Mib, aunque su desembolvimiento escénico fue un poco inusual...quizás mas apropiado para un concierto. Igual me gustó.-

Quite good singing but her acting is pathetic.

yup. her high notes are little shrill. but there's no doubt she can hit the high Eb. she's very commited in her acting too...i'll give her a 3.5/4.5.

What is heavy and what is unpleasant? Her singing? Attacchi? Her timbre? Her voice? Coloratura? Interpretation?

As far as I'm concerned, her voice and coloratura are heavy, her timbre is unpleasant and the rest is just nothing...

She is terrible! The worst Violetta of the contest, every note is pushed and the high notes are all screams. O/O.

To me the high notes are a little shrill. Final Eb was well placed. something about the way she moved on stage didn't do it for me. 4/3.5

Vocally she was still very good here. She really "bites" the words and the diction is admirable. 4.5/5
