Tomato seems to leave a lot to be desired. No matter how high quality my footage is, no matter how big I set the search areas on the tracks, etc., literally every single track, even if there are 50 of them, end up getting completely lost after a mere 50-100 frames. It's completely puzzling, and I can only guess this is some sort of bug with my build of Tomato.
@CapnDingo you need to add new trackers when only some of them left , also with shitty cameras , like phone ones , avoid making fast moves , or it will blur and distort image , making tracking impossible for any software
The tracking seems to improve a lot when I updated to the latest Tomato build as of 5 days ago, but only after selecting a different tracking method that allowed me to change the maximum error allowance; one other thing to mention is that I was also putting lime green tracking dots on a dull red surface, which is part of why I was surprised that my tracks were being lost. Seems to have been improved though in the latest builds.
@CapnDingo I know this is old, but a big factor is camera shutter speed (not frame rate). Make sure it is above 160 (1/160) . if so, bump some ISO up, or lower the fstop. (aperture)
