I saw in another vid you said the roof melted and you mentioned poly. I am deciding now for a new but cheap as possible roof for mine so I am wondering what you used so I do not make same mistake. LOL.
@catawbasmoke OMG don't use the plastic sheeting..thats what I used....get the poly carbonate clear roofing in the back at lowes...it will last forever!...please don't waste you time like I did.....I need to do an update video and show you what mine looks like...scary!
@london1817 Please do the vid. I am going next weekend to buy the stuff I need. Hopefully, if it isn't too much for me.I have an a-frame roof. It is one of those 10x 20 tubular frame carports from Tractor Supply and I put up some 2x4 walls and closed in the ends and a door.
@catawbasmoke resist the temptation to just cover it with a tarp...just attach 3 boards from side to side the longways ( one at top ,one in middle, one at bottom) and use polycarb. last forever.
@london1817 Thank you so much. I will do that. I have scoped it out on HomeDepot site. I am going to get them there. I measured and if I can cut 144" sheet in half I can come out spending about $175. Yippee! One more thing. Translucent white or clear? I was thinking here in S.C. sun can be pretty strong and the professional greenhouses around here do not have any clear roofing. Was thinking that may be why.
@catawbasmoke well...you won't be using it in the summer..nothing will live....a green house is just for getting your starts out for very early spring...what is your plan on this?....I never used my green house after 1 season.....I just used a couple shelves in front of my living room window for my starts.
@london1817 I used my window too for my personal stuff usually and wintertime growing inside. I do hundreds of plants cause I take them to sale. I pushed heirlooms last year and some really liked them. This year besides veggies I have herbs n potted plants, house plants and bushes for sale. I house my big pots of herbs, those for seeds n cuttings 4 next year to sale.So need GH in winter for those and onions, cabbages, and root cuttings for different things.My house is FULL so need the space.
@catawbasmoke oh wow! sounds like you need a giant GH...nothing beats a nice structure you can depend on for that size...well with the right building you could go huge with your business!! good luck ...I hope it goes well!! :)
