UGH i remeber this! i was 6 when this happened! i was little but i will never forget it! i remeber we left my house and we went to go stay w/ grandma marjorie! she lives in EC 2 but her house is bigger (its only down the street from mi house tho! lol) well anyways i will never ever forget hurricane isabel!
I live in Phoebus, on the water at the mouth of the bay. My house and neighborhood were devastated. Most of the houses, including mine flooded and lost most of the trees. Luckily our pier was the only one that wasn't lost.
The city should have learned from Isabel enough to tear up the public parking lot and raise it a few feet with some fill. You know, there's still a canal and huge culverts under that asphalt...
I was a Police Officer with Elizabeth City during that hurricane. Its was very sad to see the amount of citizens who came out during the storm to break into local businesses and steal. It was so bad that Elizabeth City had to have three other Law Enforcement Agencies come from around the state to help us keep control of the looting. I had to move my family to keep them safe.
