i had the same thing, multiple times with the first DS, eventually, the cable running through it will snap, and you need to replace it to get the device working again, so be carefull about that :P (at the end, the whole upper screen broke off :( )
My ds lite did that once I went out with my mom and I left my ds on my computer table and o didn't play with it or anything so wen I came home wen I opened it it had a cracked hinge on the right of my ds lite it was huge and the bad part was it got loose and when I would close it I would see the right side cracked hinge and u could see the inside of the ds I was really mad and it was scary cuz it was sitting there wen I left my house
I've had mine since Christmas 2011 and there is some movement of the left hinge. It moves about the same as in the video - or maybe a bit less - but only when shut. It clicks open properly at the correct angle and there is no noticeable hinge movement when its open.
I had a DS Lite some time ago which had hinge failure and it had quite tight hinges.
I have that exact same problem with my 3DS, i also had a similar problem with my DSLite, does Nintendo do repairs, can i send it in and try and get it fixed. I'm worried incase it turns out like my last DS (its pretty much pacman, if you get what i meen).
My 3DS started doing this yesterday and my DS Lite did this forever. I can press down on the left side and hear a click. It's annoying and weird because I barely move mine when playing..
That happens when It suffers too much motion stress (stress from moving at high speeds [The CO2 in most drinks also experince this, and you] The hinges were meant to move the screen up and down or should I say open and close it, since it was made for that purpose, It can not withstand sustained or sharp movenents at hight speeds (like you on a rollercoaster, that why some people throw up thier food form thier stomachs [the stomach is meant to digest food not move at high speeds compared to legs.
My dsi does my xl wobble hinge original ds fine gonna get a 3ds and what does a loose hinge matter it's not like a broken screen u guys need to learn ur not gonna have it for ever unless u collect nintendo stuff etc and take care of ittt. Anyways small problems like that you guys should know by now with the hinge sense previous ds models
That happened to my 3DS which I bought 3 days ago, I noticed it yesterday. Should I get it replaced? I plan to return it tomorrow, so any advice right now would help (: thanks!
Dear Nintendo 3DS user, we're setting up a massive claim to nintendo for their Nintendo 3DS system, because of its problematic self-damaging screen and many other issues that disapoint us.
Please join us, we need a lot of support.
Check out our channel, the blog and please suscribe or comment to count on your support.
@SpankAgoose the thing is, nintendo is fully aware of this. they know that it wobbles and claims it does if you check their support. that is no problem for many, but the main problem comes within the wobble as it creates creaking noise. Nintendo states that if it clicks on ( when you open it 135 degree), its fully working so its not a defect. however they do replace it if you feel its an hinder to your gameplay. usually its not the wobble, but the creaks. does your creak like a ungreased door?
@mrbromantics No. It doesn't make any unnecessary noises. Maybe i got the improved version as I got it just this august. I doesn't wobble yet but maybe that's just me because I'm very, very careful with my gadgets. Other than a small mark on the bottom side of the top screen, it's in a perfect condition.
@PIKAMONjake I've had mine for about 2 months now and I'm very careful with my gadgets. Trust me, i play it always... I had a little scratch on the bottom side of the top screen but it is screen protected so no probs. Other than that, it's in perfect condition. :)
@SpankAgoose thats greT TO HEAR, EXCEPT I DONT LIKE USING SCREEN PROTECTERS, UNless they invent an invisable one (which they most likley wont for a long time)
Do you cary it in your pocket every where, or at all
@PIKAMONjake No, I dont. I always carry it with a separate bag because i had a lot of accessories with this thing. I'll be buying a Zagg invisible shield when my ordinary screen protector really need to be replaced. It's quite expensive but it's definitely worth it. :)
get a wii=fund. Thats why some people don't buy, poor quality products form nintendo, they just can't make sturdy products. what a waste of 170 bucks. Who knows what it'll look like after a month of opening and closing. Crappy old Nintendo will never learn, people oughtta buy some better products, rather than relying on a piece of crap. Nintendo will never understand that some people don't like crappy, bad quality products.
@sewu44 It just doesn't make the click sound when it snaps into place at 135 degrees anymore but other than that, it's holding up fine.
I've had it since launch... that's what 5 months now? 300+ hours usage. On top of that I got a free 3DSware game and 20 classics too. Nintendo's doing a good job on not disappointed their buyers with the recent price drop.
My conclusion is that the top screen's ribbon goes through that particular hinge hence it's that way.
@sewu44 Damn right...nintendo will just NEVER learn...they continue placing just ONE hinge to save money...hence their dses come out with a loose hinge which is only fucking natural to happen. Damn it nintendo would it be so goddamn hard to place TWO hinges one on the left and one on the right? You used to sell this thing for almost 300 bucks ffs...
@sewu44 Oh, so Gaystation 3 and that crappy SexBox is workin' out? Sony fucking sucks, and they don't have anything to invent, they copy Nintendo. Nintendo released motion gaming, what did sony do? They fucking copied it and named it "Gaystation Move". Goddamn their names are fucking stupid. Sony is thw worst company ever. Their PSP and Fucking Stupid Vita will crumble. Go Nintendo! Sony sucks! They all suck cock!
thats what you get when you go " MUM, MUM! IT CLICKS WHEN YOU OPEN IT!!! WATCH!!!" *Shuts, opens shuts, opens shuts, opens shuts.....* "Mum.. the hinge is like sooo loose..... well well well nintendo... youve disapointed us yet again..." you see children lesson well learned
i accidentally dropped it while i was picking stuff out from under my bed (it dropped when i was in a low profile and i was holding it and it dropped to carpet) but then the hinge got sorta loose, it was holding up but loose, but i recall the hinge being as loose as when i dropped when i first opened it. so therefore, the drop caused no trouble and the hinge is supposed to be loose
My hinge is also that loose. The real problem is that the loose hinge causes the top screen to rub against the bottom screen bezel, causing it to scratch the top. I am sending mine in now because of scratches.
hey, my mic isn't working, like it only pics up static sounds and nothing else. i've tried other games test and nothing. i got frustrated and hit it a little and it started working again for a little while, but it went back to the same old thing. what should i do? i really don't want to have to send it in to get fixed.
This better not be the same problem as the DS Lite had with its hinges. And I'm not talking about whether or not the hinge is faulty, but rather the possibility of the hinge cracking/breaking due to wear-and-tear. BOTH of my DS Lites broke their right hinge from this, and the first one doesn't even turn on anymore thanks to it! My 2nd one's hinge broke about 2 years ago, though I managed to seal it together with model airplane glue, but it totally broke off yesterday. This does not bode well.
@bonbonist no nintendo just sent out bad batches im thinking. they rushed the nintendo 3ds too quick. faulty hinges, some people have creaky hinges, black screen, errors. they should of put alot more time into testing it and checking their factory assembly line up. this is why im holding back until they replace the 3ds on shelves with fixed ones. there are people who has 3ds's without loose hinges or creaky hinges and even black screen problems
@j510t mine has the wobble but no error messages or black screen. got it three weeks ago. @guitar1495 says the wobble is normal and there is a reason for it.
@gamefreaksal nah i had a wobble, i exchanged it and now its very solid and durable. its NOT normal. unless its normal to have a fucked up 3ds straight out the box. i guess.
@gamefreaksal nah i exchanged it at the store a while back. im just saying. its NOT normal to have a wobbly hinge, it might be common to a majority, but its not normal and shouldnt be like that when you first buy the 3ds. Theres a reason why nintendo has this problem under the repair/fix/maintenance on their page
it is completely normal as i have spoke to someone from nintendo and they said that it is becuase the wiring to the top screen goes through the left hinge only with the exeption of the right speaker cable and so that is why they have done this. also if your 3DS's screen wobbles back and forth when open it is defective and another reason why the left hinge is loose is so they can keep the sturdyness of the ds lite hinge but dtop it form cracking like the ds lite by lossening one hinge :)
If this is normal, then it should be on every 3DS. But no, I've checked most 3DS and it does not have this problem. I paid $250 for a loose hinge? No way, anyway Nintendo has stated about it's loose hinger and said you can replace it if it becomes a problem for you. Now obviously they know it's going to be a problem and if they allowed us to repair/exchange it, then that's not normal.
Mine wobbles but not enough to notice it but I think that is just down to the weight of the screen!! I mean there must be more technology holding it down now so I guess thats what's causing this. Many people seem to have this problem so I think that could be the case!! But as for your nintendo I would take it to a shop such as GAME and ask them what they think. I have to admit it doesn't look to good! As I said before mine wobbles but doesn't do that!!
I think it's normal, mine do the same. If the hinge makes a strange and pretty loud sound when opening or the upper screen whobbles a lot while playing, then it's defective. Mine whobbles a little but I can't appreciate it while i'm playing.
My 3d slider is kinda loose (i can wiggle it around a little) isthat normal?
