say dude, i am still a huge fan of your store. im in japan now and for a long time it seems. if you need anything from out here, let me know....ill send it your way
at EBgames (the Canadian gamestop) i go in ask how much i would get for the boxed gba game its boxed with manual and the game its mint the only way it could be in better condition was if it was sealed and do yo know what they offer a 20 CENT this is a GBA game it would easily be worth a few bucks then i see the same game loose on there shelves for $4.25
Unfortunately, apart from trade centers, pawn shops, and shopping centers, I have no dedicated game stores other than Gamestop. I used to have one around here, but it closed down.
I was selling my original xbox and moving to an upgrading to a PS3, I go to gamestop and tried to trade all "50 GAMES" i had for the system. I Walk In And The Lady Says She'll Give Me $11 For All Of The Games. I Ran Outta Of There fast as a fat man chasing the ice-cream truck.
I wish I lived near your store. I traded in 5 xbox 360 games the other day, that were out the same year. They told me if I take cash, I'll get $1.27, and if I take store credit, I'll get $23.48. So I took the credit, of course. I came back a month later to use that credit and suddenly it's not in my account, despite the emails I get from them reminding me to spend my $23.48 every two days =/
its sad to see people trading in old games. i still have all my old NES games for as long as i can remember. same with my Playstation games. its nice to play old games for memories. So y trade in ur old games? however if u buy a new game and u dont like it i fully understand how much bullshit that is for a trade in value even still best buy and target in my area will give me LESS then a gamestop will for games that i want to return (very rare that i return games thou)
Its all about supply and demand, if the game isn't in high demand then you are not going to get much money for it when it comes to GameStop or any big corporation.
I understand supply and demand. As a business owner, it's something you need a firm grasp on.
The point is that they also give much less for games in high demand. New releases (like MW3, Gears 3, AC Revalations, ETC) that they will re sell for $54.99
@L1Games i know i remember going in to gamestop on the release night for mass effect 2 they were offering to buy copies of mass effect 2 for 30 dollars before it was even released what a rip.
its a shame as I agree with what you say & I have always tried to support my local game shop (not many left in the UK anymore) but when now even my local gameshop charges £45 for MW3 ($70.2945 U.S) So I ended up buying a new sealed MW3 form Ebay for £31($48.2577 U.S (with £1.50 P+P)
All people do is hate on stores like gamestop for having such poor trade in values on old games, no matter how rare and awesome they may have been......but you have to look from what the company is seeing......if nobody is going to walk into a gamestop with the mindset of buying your ancient game from ye olden times, more than likely it will sit on the shelf and grow dust until its pennied out. Don't shit on gamestop until you run a business like that and can understand supply and demand.
I do run a business like that. Been doing it for 12 years now and have succeeded and grown while still giving better prices for games. If I can do it, then there's no question at all that gamestop could do it. If they cared about their clientele more than they care about the $.
Wasn't this video talking about the poor trade in value gamestop are putting on new games? Offering $25 on a game less than a week old is bad enough but then selling it for $5 less than the new price is just ridiculous. And as for Muzz not understanding supply and demand and running a business like gamestop, this is video number 72 out of 237 I am pretty sure Muzz knows what he is talking about by now ;)
Yes you will get 12 bucks for trading in a gamecube, because the wii is out and nobody is going to buy a gamecube ever again. Yes you will get 22 bucks for a playstation 2 because the ps3 is out and nobody will ever buy a ps2 again. Yes you will get 4 dollars for call of duty 4: modern warfare because modern warfare 2 and 3 are already out and nobody will buy that game ever again. Think about it from the stores perspective....if they cant sell it....why give you such a high value for it?
@L1Games but ya gotta admit, most of the games they're making for PS2 now are crap games. if they were still putting out the good games (I won't say which ones because I don't need crap from the trolls), I wouldn't bitch so much. the last 6 games that I bought for my DS would have been SO much better on the PS2, and they were definitely better on the PS3, 360, and Wii. I'll pick them up again when I get my next gen system, but you know I love my PS2.
I love how people constantly complain about horrible trade in values, its simple supply and demand. I can agree with all of you, $30 for a game that came out yesterday is trash, but when people flip the fuck out for getting 25 cents for a game NOBODY has ever heard of that came out back in 2006, that's when you need a slap in the face. I don't give a fuck if you paid full price for it 7 years ago, that's what its worth now because nobody will ever buy it from that store......ever.
lol this is so true. I remeber waaaaaaay back, i brought like 12 N64 games and thy wanted to give me like 50 dollars! Hahaha I was like 12 years old and i said "hell no!" hahah
i went to e.b. games (Canadian game stop) to see how much i could get a boxed gba game for, they said twenty cents and i then saw how much they were SELLING LOOSE gba games for it was ten bucks
And another thing they push that I surprisingly forgot: preorders. Because Gamestop is such a large entity, they get close with the producers and get deals such as "exclusive in-game content". Supposedly "free", right? Well, get out the vaseline and kneepads, because if you're trading towards that game, 1.)employees won't automatically apply their promotions, such as 30% bonus toward trade. You have to be knowledgeable yourself. That and the low store-credit they give... you pay for the content
That's a good call. The one thing I dislike about Gamestop is the barrage of products that they push on you when all you want to do is buy the game. People aren't stupid... they realize when they're being "sold" something, ie stupid loyalty programs, subscriptions, and even strategy guides. It adds a lot of unpleasantness to the transaction. And when I trade in my games, I also consider that the store has to make money too. But the "intangible" products they push really get me steamed.
hey can someone help me? I bought Battlefield 3 for my PC, but my PC can't run it so I want to trade it in for MW3 on PS3, here is my problem I baught the game from orgin and it came in the mail and it was limeted addition and I already activated my BF code. Can I trade the game to game stop and get $60 back in return? or at least $50? because I want to get MW3 on my PS3 but i don't have the money cause I WASTED it on BF3, I actully wasted it because my PC isnt good. or at best buy block bustr
Muzz, you are a pimp daddy. I watch every video you put up. Because of you I found a local game shop in my area which I now trade in at instead of that POS gamestop.
Another time, I bought a "complete" copy of Namco Museum for PS2, and when I opened it after I got home, it had the WRONG MANUAL, and a circular scratched disk.
I called them, and they said they got a BRAND NEW PERFECT one, so I drove 20 miles to go there, and then it was a LOOSE copy, still scratched! I returned it. The next local indepent store I went to had it in PERFECT SEALED condition for $15!
I didn't want Gran Turismo 5 (I don't have a PS3, the newest system I own is an N64) and it was still SEALED, so I went to GameStop. It was $60 when I got it (it was a gift), but they would only give me $23!!!
the thing you will never have is the convenience that gamestop has it has so many stores and they may not give you alot of money for your games but thats business. i love gamestop and i've gotten some good deals i got 35 dollars for the new mortal combat game that came out last year and it sells for 44.99.
Thats not true at all. I decided to check your numbers. I just called Gamestop. They give $16 in trade and $12.80 in cash. the only thing you have right is that they sell it for $44.99
secondly, Convenience is not the word you're looking for. I'm totally convenient to anyone who lives in the Columbus area.
Granted It's not likely I'll be as big, but then, I don't plan to be. I Like the size of my business and woudlnt want to compromise the quality.
@L1Games yea i mean convenient because they're every where and i got that much for the game because i was putting it towards another game and they were offering like 40 percent and im a power up reward member and thats another ten percent. its really convenient.
Only convenient to you then. which you should have specified. A store is convenient to anyone who lives near it.
And I'm not sure what special deals you got, but even with the extra 10% gamestop only gives 14.08 for that game. I called and asked just to be sure. I've never heard of gamestop giving 40% for a game in trade so I just called again (11-4-2011) and they sales associate I talked to said they don't offer anything like that at all
@L1Games its convenient to everyone everywhere. im sure whatever gamestop around your location gets way more sales than you do. and this was back in may of this year so they didnt have that extra trade in credit. so sure u might not believe me but gamestop must be doing something right to be this big of a company.
my only choice is gamestop unless i want to drive for an hour to get to another store. gamestop is only 10 minutes away from my house, and with the powerup pro card and on special trade-in deals, it makes it worth it to me. the only other game store close to me pays the same amount for a game on a system no matter what the game is. like madden 08 i can get 15$, but for madden 12 i only get 15$ as well. so basically after i cleaned out my game library at that store, i use gamestop, and i like it.
I miss funcoland and Play n Trade video games. They were some of the few good used game stores here in Minnesota. There's barely anything left. I wish your store was here! Your store looks sweet! :D
i remember back in 1996, FUNCOLAND had reasonable "used" prices for nes and super nes games. gamestop knocks off a whopping $5 bucks for a used copy. THE WORST THING about GAMESTOP is that they now sell NEW games that are OPENED! yep. they actually open the game, put the disc behind the counter, and then put the case on display. meanwhile the employees are playing the games that gamestop will see you as "new." it is absolutely the worst game shop you can buy from. target and walmart are better
i wish i had an independant game store, i buy my games from ebay, can you say lower price and free shipping :) but if u guys were located in yonkers i'd shop there everyday
3 months after i bought assasins creed brother hood prand new 4 $70, I tried to trade it in at gamestop/eb-games & they tried to give me $8 in game credits
3 months after i bought assasins creed brother hood prand new 4 $70, I tried to trade it in at gamestop/eb-games & they tried to give me $8 in game credits
Unfortunately the only independent game store in the area is about 30 miles south of me. However I usually only go to GS for used PS2 games that are only a few bucks a piece. The employees are cool but you know they're getting fucked over by internal politics. My best friend worked for a GS years ago and got screwed by them as well. I frequent Sears for discount games (I got a few 360 titles for only 5 bucks last week) or Best Buy (they have collectors edition of Reach: 60 bucks). Good luck man.
I sell most of games on amazon. get LOTS more for them. the last time I traded in I traded 5 old games, didnt really care what I got for them I just wanted to get rid of them. yeah I dont live n a huge area so we dont have any independent game stores. ive been trying to avoid gamestop, I go there for cheap pre owned games once ina while. Not that often,once I bought dantes inferno, and I stupidly ripped off the stickers, not knowing that a quarter way through the game, it would stop working
i bought a game from game stop 4 like $15 and i tried to sell it a couple days later because it was terrible and they only offered me a 25 cents..............WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I agree with all that you said. BUT, the best time to trade in is when we are doing DEALS, I know they are not the best. Take this for example buy a little big planet 2 bundle package 59.99 with a PS3 controller, trade in the Little Big Planet 2, with the extra 20% trade credit and your card 10% + 20%= (30%). So Than you are only paying 42$ for a brand new PS3 controller, it all depends when you do your trades. I tell my customers this.
Wow hell yea u speak the truth if your store was in mishawaka in id shop at your place all the time. Damn I really want to unreserve arkham cityat gamestop and get it at best buy
i turned in Mafia 2 and a brand new copy of Dragon Age 2 and they gave me 12.76 12.76 for a fucking game i spent 60 dollars on and another i spent 20 on so here is what i did i said FUCK NO they told me to calm down by then i was really angery so i started slowly getting the same games from there shelves and slamming them onto the counter saying THIS DRAGON AGE IS 50 FUCKING DOLLARS and THIS MAFIA 2 IS 15 DOLLARS ASSHOLE and he still didnt listen so i left with my games........
I used to work at Software Etc, a direct competitor to EB games and Funcoland(before they were GS) back in 1996-99 as a shift-manager. Even then, when trade-ins were JUST getting going, the patrons got shafted. Not as bad as todays GS though. We were allowed to take NEW games home, play them, & then re-shrinkwrap them & sell them as NEW. One good thing about working there was we got to buy the best trade-ins at discounted prices for ourselves. When $ is most important,someone will get screwed.
I stopped shopping at Lamestop years ago for these very reasons. I think its great that you are giving more back to the community and not money grubbing like every freakin game store that pops up. $35 bucks for a new game trade in is an amazing deal, but how much do you give on older stuff like SNES and ps1 stuff? I've got tons of older games but I don't really know what they are worth. You should post your magic card thing up so we know what our "old" games are worth too!
LOL... What a child you are. Fault Gamestop for developing a system that works, fault the government for taxing a business that employs people across the nation because they don't treat you like some kind of special snowflake because you run a hole in the wall that doesn't have half the overhead they do.
Child? LOL. What a child YOU are, for not respecting the opinion of MANY other gamers who feel the same way. You don't have to agree, but name calling and slinging insults because you don't agree is infantile at VERY best.
I run a very good and Very successful business. My overhead is low because I keep it low. I do what I do because I love gaming, not because I need to milk an extra buck my my gaming compatriots.
and for the record, Taxes have nothing to do with any of it. the amount a company pays in taxes is proportionate to their income. Gamestop pays more because they have 6000+ stores and make vast amounts of money. I make less and pay less. but whats that got to do with trade and cash values? NOTHING. My business has grown and thrived over the last 12 years based on my better pricing system. PERIOD.
Lastly, I don't tell people NOT to shop at gamestop, I tell them to check all their options. I'm making gamers aware because It's the right thing to do. Most of the people who watch this video will never come to my store. I'm not saying what I say for profit. I get nothing out of it. It's just the facts and one gamer taking the time to make other gamers aware that they do have other options.
So who's the Child? The guy who faults me for speaking my mind. Screw you dude.
So yeah, I speak up against a company that gives less than others and gets all the breaks that others dont. they save money VIA corporate loopholes and tax breaks, they save money for owning their own distributors, and they put smaller game store out of business by moving right across the street from them. Sorry if that doesnt suit you.
whats your "used" return policy?.. if its anywhere near GS's then i will concede. but im guessing not. someone buys a used game and 6 days later beats it and wants to return it... GS takes it back. how about u? you hate GS bc of competition. look ... i dont necessarily like them either but they do have good parts. but being a small business competitor doesnt help in giving a non bios point of view. keep on keep on .. but stop hating without validity.
There is a gamestop in this very mall. I send people to them and they send people to me all the time. I don't really consider them "Competition". I sell a lot that they don't and vice versa.
As a gamer on the other hand, I'm not satisfied with the amount they give for cash and trade on used titles. My view in this video is that of a knowledgeable gamer. It just so happens that my perspective as a store owner gives me extra insight.
Let me also add that Fact cannot be bias. (It's "Bias" Not "Bios") I only say what the facts are here. I talk about prices that were current at the time for GS and L1 Trade values on games. There is no misinformation or opinion when it comes to the numbers I gave in this video. All completely valid.
I Love Gamestop, But the trade in policy kills me. I Can Bring In A Game That Just Came Out And Play It, And They Will Give Me Half For What I Paid For It. And To Make It Worst They Will Sell That Used Game For $54.99 If It Just Came Out. I Feel Cheated Because It Would Be Better If They Would Just Give Me The Used Price In Store Credit
@StarScream6541 i wont believe that untill i see it, you make gamestop sound like ruthless crooks when yes they are unfair but they dont do shit like that, i'll tell you what, make a video showing the recite then i'll know
Feel for us in Australia. Games MSRP/RRP at $120 AUD for most titles on Xbox360/PS3. Even when the Aus Dollar is down it still equates to $100 USD, and at the moment it's worth more than the USD. Most games are made in Singapore which is closer to Australia than the USA. One example is when Left 4 Dead went on games on demand. IIRC, it was approx $30 USD, while it was $90 AUD. wtf?
i still remember the week tony hawks proving ground came out... i went to gamestop and bought it for $60... went home played it ONE TIME for only 3 HOURS... my mom came home from work and told me i had to take the copy i bought back... my bday was in 4 days and she had bought it off the internet... i went back to the gamestop i bought it from... i talked to the EXACT same guy who sold it to me and he only gave me $20 for a game i bought 3 hours earlier. after that i lost all respect for gamestop
i have no idea what u guys are talking about, i tradedin black ops, i got 30, traded in lbp2, i got 36, i traded MVC3, i got 36, i traded MGS4, i got 10, i traded in 2 more games a controller and a mic i got in total 206, so idk what u guys bitchen about, i still got the recite
Currently, Gamestop sells MVC3 for $39.99. there is absolutely no way you got $36 for it. And MGS4 sells for $14.99....No way you got $10 for it. I wont continue to look into what you said on the other games because I already know you're full of crap.
I don't understand your point. the video is 3 years old. but the comments are only 2 months old. and at the time of the comments those were current prices. (MVC3 was a brand new title at the time he posted. so current prices were applicable)
That is more than fair bro. We are better than GameStop on our trades and cash values. However, I am glad you are not here in this town, you would put me out, lol!
the only thing about it is that gamestop has already bought alot of game stores out of business and really have no where else to go besides pawn shops and flea markets. why buy a new game for $60 and trade it in for $25, we should get at least $40 and they sell them pre owned for $55.
game stop sucks balls. i never ever do business there. theres a mom and pop store that always gives me half what they sell it for. like this if you support mom and pop game stores and want to take out game stop inc.
i bought a soccer game about 8 months ago I played 3 to 4 times than i figure out that it sucked the prestiaion was good but the gameplay sucked . also here is the name of my consele it is wii and the game is called pes 2010 pro evoalation soccer so I phone eb games the orginal price was 35.99 If I would have trade it in I have goten 5.55
When you trade in broken systems and worthless discs to Gamestop, aren't you just passing frustration to another gamer the may end up with the game? Even if they end up returning it, they still go through the hassle. I don't like them that much either, for the record.
@TheCuster58 Since the making of this video I have changed my opinion of that practice. In retrospect, I realized that it's something I shouldn't have done and no longer do.
And what kills me is when people come in and get mad or dissapointed when they trade in PS2 games and only get like 1 or 2 dollars. 75% of PS2 games in Gamestop are 5.99 and under. Point made. Lastly, while some of the policies suck (selling gutted games as new) no one forces you to buy or trade with GS, don't like it then keep your shit. Don't take out your anger or hatred on the poor employee making minimum wage trying to get through college.
Yes, gamestop has some shitty policies but you know what? What you people don't understand (and apparently baldy here doesn't either) is that Gamestop is a huge corperation, they have thousands and thousands of stores all over the world. They get millions fo games every day, do you really think they can give you 40-50 dollars per game and still make a profit? No.
How about this one? I purchased Final Fantasy VII brand new at Gamestop years ago. The catch is that they handed me a gutted display copy with the discs neatly placed within the pages of the manual. The funny thing is I never even played those discs as I've kept the game lying around in my vg collection. Luckily, I did manage to have the foresight to buy another FF7 not long after and have kept it sealed in it's manufacturer's shrink wrap ever since.
@L1Games I like how you slam gamestop. Today I went to gamestop and traded in ps2 games. gran turismo 4, burnout dominator, nfs pro street and star wars battlefront 2 all used. They wouldnt take burnout because there was damage to the front of it, which they thought i caused, but i actually bought it like that from there! so there basically taking advantage of me. I shrug it off, they add all the rest of the games up, and they try to say its only worth $5!I just kept my games! I wasnt suprised..
Go to hell, knowone was talking to you.............idiot!
Your comment is way off, they dont have 5309853498742893758975389475 ps2 games, or that many games at all you moron! You are really just making a troll of yourself....
@TheMajorHawke First, learn to spell. Second, I work at Gamestop and obviously I wasn't serious when I said we have 439085923075495349 games, idiot. We do have hundreds of PS2 games in envelopes that are priced at 5.99 and under so what do you expect to get when you bring in your old ass crappy scratched up PS2 games that the majority of people don't want or care anything about? You are lucky there is still a place that will give you ANY money for those games.
Power To The Players, My ass!! Power to the players when you go give us 20% for are games, then go sell them for the same price we bought them for. And probably the reason my ps2 games are all scratched up, or according to you "old ass crappy scratched up PS2 games that the majority of people don't want or care anything about" is because you put them in your shitty ass envelopes that ruin the fuck out of your so called new games, lol!
@TheMajorHawke So? What do you expect a small store to do with hundreds of PS2 games that no one buys? Also, most of those PS2 games are 5.99 and under, like i've said for the 4th time now. We also offer a 30 day warranty and a 7 day full refund policy if you don't like the game. And it's only 5 dollars to add a full 1 year warranty to any game you buy you idiot. No one is forcing you to trade in your games, if you dont like the price keep the mother fuckers and stay out of our store.
@L1Games The warranty is optional and it's 5 dollars for any item under 20 dollars. I was obviously saying that it's an option for someone who is worried about their games not working. When you invest your life into a business and you have some idiot that doesn't have a clue about how it work's trying to insult you, yes, I take it personally. I say "OUR" because I work there, makes me part of the store.. it's simply a saying, stop trying to take things out of context.
bull shit amestop is not fair i bought mw2 and 2 days after it came out i didnt like it so i wanted to selll it to them and all i they said it was going to be 16 dollars i said hell no i just bought this 2 days ago when i came out and your only offering 16 dollars now thats some bullshit thumbs up if you agree
If there is a store like yours in my local area (idk if there is) I would ditch gamestop for you in a minute ive now come to realize that gamestop is a greedy group of people. Thanks for the vid :D
@xXM6000Xx1 another thing is, gamestop does deals, but i think your wronge, other stores to me have fair price, it just seems alot becuz gamestop does deals, like buy 2 get 1 free, and the powerup rewards card, becuz there JUST a gaming store, walmart and target and best buy arnt, wich dont do those, only rarly do they do deals like that, and even more rarly on GAMES
the only local game store to me got shut down cause he was selling modded consoles and bootleg game in the store so im stuck with game stop i only go there for the mag sub
yeah the one in pittsburg ks sucks so much bawls i tried to sell a mint condition Halo Reach adn they said they would give me $20 and a keychain. A FRICKIN KEYCHAIN!
I traded Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, and Medal of Honor for the PS3 today at Gamestop.. I wanted to trade them to get Black Ops.. I looked up how much the games costed online so I could get an estimate as to how much I was going to get. The price I added came up to around $60. I expected to get maybe $50. I go in there, and they gave me only $19 DOLLARS! I am so upset! I couldn't even get Black Ops. Now I'm gameless..
say dude, i am still a huge fan of your store. im in japan now and for a long time it seems. if you need anything from out here, let me know....ill send it your way

at EBgames (the Canadian gamestop) i go in ask how much i would get for the boxed gba game its boxed with manual and the game its mint the only way it could be in better condition was if it was sealed and do yo know what they offer a 20 CENT this is a GBA game it would easily be worth a few bucks then i see the same game loose on there shelves for $4.25

So I took the credit, of course. I came back a month later to use that credit and suddenly it's not in my account, despite the emails I get from them reminding me to spend my $23.48 every two days =/

its a shame as I agree with what you say & I have always tried to support my local game shop (not many left in the UK anymore) but when now even my local gameshop charges £45 for MW3 ($70.2945 U.S) So I ended up buying a new sealed MW3 form Ebay for £31($48.2577 U.S (with £1.50 P+P)
Now that is a big difference! $22!

Chronocloud65 2 months ago
@Chronocloud65
I do run a business like that. Been doing it for 12 years now and have succeeded and grown while still giving better prices for games. If I can do it, then there's no question at all that gamestop could do it. If they cared about their clientele more than they care about the $.
Period.
L1Games 2 months ago 7
@Chronocloud65

Chronocloud65 2 months ago
@Chronocloud65
The wii plays gamecube games and they sell very well.
The Ps3 is not backwards compatible and people still buy PS2 consoles. (games are still made for PS2)
the things you say "nobody will ever buy again" are all things people buy lots of.
L1Games 2 months ago 2
@L1Games but ya gotta admit, most of the games they're making for PS2 now are crap games. if they were still putting out the good games (I won't say which ones because I don't need crap from the trolls), I wouldn't bitch so much. the last 6 games that I bought for my DS would have been SO much better on the PS2, and they were definitely better on the PS3, 360, and Wii. I'll pick them up again when I get my next gen system, but you know I love my PS2.
CrimsonCrowess 1 month ago
I love how people constantly complain about horrible trade in values, its simple supply and demand. I can agree with all of you, $30 for a game that came out yesterday is trash, but when people flip the fuck out for getting 25 cents for a game NOBODY has ever heard of that came out back in 2006, that's when you need a slap in the face. I don't give a fuck if you paid full price for it 7 years ago, that's what its worth now because nobody will ever buy it from that store......ever.
Chronocloud65 2 months ago

And another thing they push that I surprisingly forgot: preorders. Because Gamestop is such a large entity, they get close with the producers and get deals such as "exclusive in-game content". Supposedly "free", right? Well, get out the vaseline and kneepads, because if you're trading towards that game, 1.)employees won't automatically apply their promotions, such as 30% bonus toward trade. You have to be knowledgeable yourself. That and the low store-credit they give... you pay for the content
jordancn 2 months ago
That's a good call. The one thing I dislike about Gamestop is the barrage of products that they push on you when all you want to do is buy the game. People aren't stupid... they realize when they're being "sold" something, ie stupid loyalty programs, subscriptions, and even strategy guides. It adds a lot of unpleasantness to the transaction. And when I trade in my games, I also consider that the store has to make money too. But the "intangible" products they push really get me steamed.

I wish you had a store in California!
NESAtariSegaNerd 3 months ago
I didn't want Gran Turismo 5 (I don't have a PS3, the newest system I own is an N64) and it was still SEALED, so I went to GameStop. It was $60 when I got it (it was a gift), but they would only give me $23!!!

the thing you will never have is the convenience that gamestop has it has so many stores and they may not give you alot of money for your games but thats business. i love gamestop and i've gotten some good deals i got 35 dollars for the new mortal combat game that came out last year and it sells for 44.99.
XxOGxXSHOGUN 3 months ago
@XxOGxXSHOGUN
L1Games 3 months ago
@L1Games yea i mean convenient because they're every where and i got that much for the game because i was putting it towards another game and they were offering like 40 percent and im a power up reward member and thats another ten percent. its really convenient.
XxOGxXSHOGUN 2 months ago
@XxOGxXSHOGUN
Only convenient to you then. which you should have specified. A store is convenient to anyone who lives near it.
And I'm not sure what special deals you got, but even with the extra 10% gamestop only gives 14.08 for that game. I called and asked just to be sure. I've never heard of gamestop giving 40% for a game in trade so I just called again (11-4-2011) and they sales associate I talked to said they don't offer anything like that at all
so, I'll have to call B.S. on your story.
L1Games 2 months ago 4

BullyScholarshipWii 3 months ago
i remember back in 1996, FUNCOLAND had reasonable "used" prices for nes and super nes games. gamestop knocks off a whopping $5 bucks for a used copy.

Buxterminator 5 months ago
@Buxterminator
Child?
L1Games 5 months ago
@L1Games
and for the record, Taxes have nothing to do with any of it. the amount a company pays in taxes is proportionate to their income. Gamestop pays more because they have 6000+ stores and make vast amounts of money. I make less and pay less. but whats that got to do with trade and cash values? NOTHING. My business has grown and thrived over the last 12 years based on my better pricing system. PERIOD.
L1Games 5 months ago
@L1Games
L1Games 5 months ago
@L1Games
So yeah, I speak up against a company that gives less than others and gets all the breaks that others dont. they save money VIA corporate loopholes and tax breaks, they save money for owning their own distributors, and they put smaller game store out of business by moving right across the street from them. Sorry if that doesnt suit you.
L1Games 5 months ago
I sell ALL my broken games to gamestop.
ImmaPlatypus 5 months ago
whats your "used" return policy?.. if its anywhere near GS's then i will concede. but im guessing not. someone buys a used game and 6 days later beats it and wants to return it... GS takes it back. how about u? you hate GS bc of competition. look ... i dont necessarily like them either but they do have good parts. but being a small business competitor doesnt help in giving a non bios point of view. keep on keep on .. but stop hating without validity.
dasjaeger101 6 months ago
@dasjaeger101
I have a 15 day exchange policy on used games.
L1Games 6 months ago
@L1Games

IIRC, it was approx $30 USD, while it was $90 AUD. wtf?

Think twice before buying "Nused" games.

@TheMajorHawke It's because Gamestop has 5309853498742893758975389475 PS2 games, 75% of which all cost under 5.99 so what do you expect you idiot?

@AdoreYouInAshXI

AdoreYouInAshXI 6 months ago
@AdoreYouInAshXI learn how to spell? is that all you got?

AdoreYouInAshXI 6 months ago
@AdoreYouInAshXI
Wow. you take it all pretty personally. LOL
Question: why would anyone add a $5 warranty to a game that cost less than $5?
You say "OUR store" as if you have some real stake in it. I think you need to mellow out.
L1Games 6 months ago
@L1Games The warranty is optional and it's 5 dollars for any item under 20 dollars. I was obviously saying that it's an option for someone who is worried about their games not working. When you invest your life into a business and you have some idiot that doesn't have a clue about how it work's trying to insult you, yes, I take it personally. I say "OUR" because I work there, makes me part of the store.. it's simply a saying, stop trying to take things out of context.
