@inchesjackson Billy T was at his peak around this time, great days for both Pakeha and Maori, we all seemed so much closer back then, too many stirrers in society now...
I remember seeing these guys when I was a little kid, was at the hall in Porangahau, went with my Mum, awesome night xD
I miss those days... the parties after shearing, the bear bottle being passed around, sneaking a swig when no-one was looking, the guitar around the fire and everyone singing xD
i was over in the states a year ago,and my uncle sent me some homegrown..i played this song and heaps of people like niggroz and haspanik people loved this shit..
fuuuuuckkk yeahhh!!...dis is my jam....dad use to listen to this when he got on the piss and when he went out fishing. Now this is the song he always listen to!!
This almost brings out the tears, Those old NZ summers we put the Hangi down early the family all came round, Good tunes like these playing, LOL our flagons full of lion red or DB, Oh man those day were so great. Bit different here in Aus as we all dissapered chasing the coin etc.......Gotta be careful what you leave behind aye, as you may not know what you have untill you dont have it anymore. Least I have the music though. Thanks.
@Primetome chur, far out back in the days were good as, love listening to this song when drunking.... reminds me of back in the days hard....old nz drink ups... too bad its not like that now days aey.
@Primetome It does bring out the tears, I came to OZ 12 weeks ago chasing the coin, I've made up my mind now to go back to NZ when my lease on my flat is up in 6 months! fuck OZ, NZ is much better, as someone else put it: is better to live poor in the best country in the world rather than be rich in a dump
@kieron82 I was in the same boat, Had to wait till my lease was up in Sydney. nIt was a hard 11 months. ill tell you. But hang in there it will feel so good when you step foot back in NZ, Youll see what I mean. Peace,
@Primetome I hear what you are saying. I moved to Oz 9 years ago because I wasnt getting anywhere in NZ. Yeah it was to chase the coin, but only so I could support my family. I had acreage at Te Hauke, Hawkes Bay and still found it hard at the end of the day to put food on the table. Only thing I miss about NZ is family. I'll always remember the woolshed parties and drinking Tui at the Weber & Wimbledon Pubs in my teen years. Always listen to the good old kiwi music!!
@wholefarkenfamily Sweet bro Im from Hastings orginaly, Hey man family got to come first. Do what you gottta do brother just take the music and memories with you! Wishing you and your family all the best for 2011.
@Primetome All my family still live in Hastings. Going back in March 2011 for school reunion, catch up with some of the boys I went to school with back in the 80's. Thank you for your good wishes, All the best to you and your family for xmas and new year!
We need to cherish those memories and the music as we move forward in our lives!
@Primetome I moved to Queensland in the early 80's my family worked on the torong power station, went to a works do and there were about 600 people, 500 of which were Kiwi's/Maori's. My high school had more Maori's than aborigines...We run the place mate...Sweet!!!

This old classic reminds me of trips to the river with all my family. Dropping a mean hangi then shooting back to Nan's to play hide and go seek.
Brings tears to my eyes.
