hey mate, first of alll, you are amazzzing!! secondly, i have just bought the degrasso snare and have tuned it perfectly but i cant stop my snares from rattling when playing the rest of my kit (toms, kick) and i was wonder what you do to your snares
Turn snares off and tune the snare to a pitch that's different (in between) the tunings for your toms, preferably not in the same harmonic range (i.e. quartertones out). I usually tune mine to be pitched somewhere between my 10 and 12" rack toms. You'll find that this cuts out a lot of cross-talk between drums as there will be less frequency clashes.
You can also try cutting a couple of the outer snare wires off on each side, which will give a more focused, less buzzy sound :)
@liamhogan0 awww ok thanks so much for the advise. i have been playing for a good 4 years now and consider my self above intermediate but dont really understand fully how to tune my drums to sound 'nice'. your advice has helped me heapsss:)
@dav3matth3wsband Thanks for kind words! Unfortunately I do not know how to tune the drums properly....)))) I tune toms by TAMA Tension watch (Standart settings), bass drums tuned as low as possible and snare tuned by ear :)
those are all just the mics that come in the audix pack? I'm looking for good cheap mics, and I'm torn between these and some CAD's. What would you suggest?
@holyhell937 AUDIX works well for me, but I have heard many good reviews about CAD mics from my friends. I think at this price, they are almost identical
@EvgenPanasuk I've heard a lot of good things about both Audix and CAD, but I'm just trying to find some cheap mics to start recording. So, I guess I'm looking for the most bang for my buck. Also, did you use any EQ or anything on your drums? They sound really natural.
You should film the whole band

Jeka, you are the man! (as I always told you)
Liked it, wondering what cymbals do you use in front of your rack toms.

@Jaryddrummer159 I think a lot depends on the type of room - I have no such problem.

@holyhell937 Just a little. I've cut 250 Hz to remove boominess in bass drum.
