@kruiser98 What is your draw length? A 400 spine would be my guess but if you have a long draw you may need to go with a 340. I like Victory arrows myself. i have had good luck with them the past few years.
thanks for this series of videos it helped me greatly and i started my own note book that is going to stay in my bow case so if anything ever happens i will have the resources to fix it
@MidSouthBowHunter No problem. We also have a DVD out called Bow Tuning Basics that touches on Walkback tuning, paper tuning and broadhead tuning. It also comes with flash cards that you can take with you while you tune your bow. You can find it on our website.
Ike, I like your videos and am going to try out your tips that you give, I am shooting roughly 70 lbs out of a hoyt turbo hawk and shooting a easton axis n-fused carbon arrow with a 400 grain spine, do you think that is too much? Should I drop down to a 360 grain spine? Thats what other people have said but I would like your opinion. Thanks huntinutah.
@huntinutah a 400 spine arrow is not as stiff as a 350 spine arrow. i think u have it backwards. and i dont think its a 400grain spine just 400 spine. and my buddy has a hoyt Rampage XT which i think is faster than ur hawk and hes got a 28" draw and he was told by pros to use a 400 spine. so i think ur 400 is fine. unless u have like a 30"+ draw then u might wana go up to a 340 spine. just google easton shaft selector. they have a site that tells u what to use.
@buckmenoutdoor 60lbs is generally about a 400gr spine. Your draw length will affect that though, if you have a longer draw length you may have to go up to a 350gr spine.
Thanx for this series. I'm sure it's helped many other archers. I'm farely new to bow hunting. I have a Parker Pheonix34 with all the goodies. It shoots well. I'm going to try the new spring loaded mechanical broadheads by "Bloodrunner". The 2 blade ones have a 2" cut. Any thoughts on these?
If you don't like my videos please move on and don't watch them I am simply trying to help other archers experts such as yourself obviously have no need of my assistance so please continue to shoot an untuned bow that performs at sub par levels and keep you comments off of my videos
I would also like to thank you for posting this video series - it has helped me get my Pearson Spoiler Angle properly tuned and revealed some equipment flaws as well! As with [JohnDeere1317], I also printed the Easton Tuning Guide and I am very happy to now know it exists! Thanks again for your thorough and simple explanation.
theres no such thing as broadhead tuning, if your bow is tuned, its tuned. period If its the wrong spine for your broadhead then its the wrong one for field points. assuming your keeping same weight of point vs broadhead.
@dugy40 Well I like to say your right, I just bought a Hoyt Turbohawk 2010 on April 7 2011 from Hidden Valley Outdoors in Saint Clairesville Ohio. I sighted in. knocked a NAP Razorback 100 grain 20 yards 4 bulls eyes. Now thats with 60lbs-28 inch draw- Apex 4pin- WB rest and Cabelas 400 spine carbon hunter blazer arrows. they come to about 369 gains.
Hey man I have a question i just got my first compact bow everytime I try to shoot a broadhead arrow it stabs me in the hand idk wat it is the field tips are fine though please help thx
@cryptkeepermaniac damnit man! get longer arrows so your point is out past your hand an inch. make sure your not shooting open grip with fixed blades. stitches are expensive!
Thank you for making this video series it has helped me quite a bit in tuning my new PSE Bowmadness. I also printed out the Easton Tuning Guide witch has made life alot easier :)
Thanks for taking the time to do the video. I found this very helpfull as i am new to the sport and using used equipment.

@ikesoutdoors Hi mate, My draw lenght is 28 Inches.
kruiser98 6 months ago
@kruiser98 the .400 spin should work out good for you with a 100 grain head. If you want to shoot a 125 grain head I would recommend the .340
ikesoutdoors 6 months ago
@kruiser98 I would say that the 400 spine would be fine.

@huntinutah Yes, I would agree. I think you would need a 350 or possibly 300 spine depending on the arrow length.

You are correct. Broadheads only amplify the problem showing you that you are not in tune.
