Hey, this was kinda nice... We also have a (mobile) laptop orchestra here in Malmo, Sweden, called MDO. Great to here other LOrch's out there!

making music on a laptop isnt anything new.

in fact peple have been making music on laptops since the late eighties....

Funny thing is...no one ever gets past the homemade aesthetic with this.

the computer never becomes a standard thing like an electric guitar...partly because they always become obsolete.

The laptop is the most awkward interface to play music with.

your much better off using some type of OSC / midi controller

I agree with you. This is very gimmicky. It is not a good or well-designed interface. If I made a guitar out of a car door, it would have the same feel to it - not designed for the right purpose.

I think that people who find this cool are those who don't have a lot of experience with 1 - design, 2 - musical instruments, and 3 - user interface design (my professional field).

Hey I just woke up an saw SLOrk on the Mac Website.. great concept Ge!! Myself I`ve been writing a more folk/indy/alt/rock style.. but I see a need for your groups..try touring the tecno circuit, it pays some good money which you could turn over and pay your performers with (and yourself) maybe put a few drum beats in the centre of the mix

4" car audio speakers and a wooden bowl with carved holes. use template in speaker instructions. connect wires in parallel to amplifier

actually, the speakers are made out of wooden salad bowls from IKEA...
