Probotector/Contra NES Speedrun stages 1,2 & 3

Reminds of of being 6 again.

I remember the two player mode I used to play with my older brother. If you died you could steal your partners extra lives, that used to annoy my brother when I died like 8 times and steal all his lives! Good memories!

Contra ( Gryzor ) actually takes place in 2036, so it is plausible that there are robots in it, also, it makes sense when they die, have you ever seen a human body blowing up right after the human died? At least it makes more sense with robots!

@Mario60665 in the north american/japanese version when ur character dies he falls down, not explodes... and probotector takes place in the future, contra was supposed to take place in the present, but theyre pretty much identical, just with robots and a different title

hmm.. isn't probotector supposed to run slower than contra? every other probotector gameplay i've seen had much slower speed of music & gameplay.

No, I think it was some kind of censorship thing that was going on at the time that was against depicting killing humans in video games.

Crashing? That usually only happened to me if you bumped into it or something, unless, did you guys have a different style of Nintendo in Europe, or was it about the same as the two US versions (the standard and the top loader)?

we had the same styyle NES except for the toploader (as far as im aware anyways!) And also the reason why we got probotector instead of Contra was because the germans were sensitive about the war and saw it as some sort of "attack" and also was aganst human rights! so they refused to have it unless changes were made, hence probotector.

personally i would've preferred it to have been contra but apart from it being with robots instead, it looks the same, feels the same and plays the same =)

I am from Poland and I got Contra. How? Pirate Famicom cartridges were much popular in Poland. Like the Pegasus(especially model Iq-502) - a Famicom clone with removable joypads. Most Polish gamers don't know Probotector, but everyone knows Contra.

it depends on you taste. I think commandos but commandas were forbidden in Europe so thats why they used robots;)

America and Japan got original Contra games, but here in Europe we got Probotector. Contra 4 will be released as 'Contra' here in Europe too, so it's my first time playing Contra game! :)
