first of all... BOTH the white hydrangeas and the greenery in the planter are FAKE--i.e.-- silk and/plastic... what is this person thinking and why is SHE giving advice on design???

Adding color??? Its white.....Hydrangeas are fun and easy! Huge clusters create a monochromatic texture and color. All grennery, no matter how much texture, look unfinished....there must be an element of color or contrasting texture such as dried pods, wood or even metal art included....just greens look exactly like....just greens....unfinished.
