They have access to our channels and can scan them to keep updated and can be linked to our channels if the situation calls for it. FHP tends to stick to the main highways unlike many other state agencies where they roam around wherever. As for central dispatch, that is slowly happening as the Sheriff's office continues to eat up and take in smalled municipalities, their dispatch is now being put out by the S.O.
@raley87 i have a question. In pinellas county, does the S.O. patrol in municipalities with their own police departments? i live in collier county, fl and our S.O. can only patrol unincorporated parts of the county.
Where are any other assisting agencies for a chase this long? Michigan has a system called central dispatch in which every police agency in the county (or sector of any given large county like Pinellas) is centrally dispatched and they all hear and talk on the same channels. In Florida, very few agencies are linked to one another so St. Pete PD may have not even known a chase was going on in their own city and FHP wouldn't know either. It's insane the lack of cooperation between units.

Yes! Lets pit the offender on a crowded residential street. I showed this to my two sons, and my youngest one stated "that wasn't safe daddy". At least I can raise them not to trust the police. I did my part.
