"For making this flaming turd of a movie, I curse you, Bob Clark, with progressive supranuclear palsy. Baby Sly, you will forever be known as that gay hobbit who fails at kicking butt. And you, Whit, the greatest offender, are condemned to a life as a dumbass creationist. Kathleen Turner and Christopher Lloyd, you're just way too cute to punish, and I can't stay mad at you."
When I was looking at the list of movies in the description, I saw Wild Wild West and thought, "good lord, that was a piece of shit." Then all of a sudden, at 1:15, the giant fucking spider showed up.
I love cruel intentions and Jawbreaker. Sure jawbreaker wasn't cinema at it's best but it sure as hell wasn't your typical teenager/highschool movie. Both films are cult classics now. Show's how much they know.
I actually like Lake Placid. It wasn't 100% serious and I think this was an interesting. Also, strangely, I hated Wild Wild West when I saw it but after the various times it appeared on tv, i've started to like it. Kevin Kline is especially good. Joan of Ark was so cold and stupid and ugly. The director had an obvious agenda. He decided she was crazy and took out all the spitituality from it.
Cruel Intentions was a bad movie but it did have really good soundtrack and made Placebo rock-stars and there song Every You Every Me a big hit so some good came out of it
I'm surprised South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut didn't make the list. I did like Pokemon: The First Movie, even though I desperately wanted to see it in theatres, but my folks for some reason didn't take me. :-(
As a kid, I felt a weird chill come over me when Ash nearly died in Pokemon. It was one of the first moments I felt emotionally attached to the events in a fictional film. Everyone may hate it, but Pokemon the first movie holds a special place in my heart.
Baby Geniuses: Please tell me for the life of me this was made? What a waste of such great supporting actors. Kathleen Turner's career hasn't been the same. It's a story about babies that can learn karate, talk at an adult level and save the day? Talk about embarassing on every level. Not even worth a star. 1/2 star.
Jawbreaker: This is the worst high school adaptation of the 90's. It's about a woman who is killed for choking on a Jawbreaker. Um, wow. How was this greenlit again? If you want to see how three actresses can give razzie-worthy performances in a film like this. Jawbreaker is that movie. Pathetic and sociopathic. *
The award for the worst parody of a monster movie: Lake Placid. What a mess of a film. We're staged with a bunch of thin characters trying to stop a killer crocodile and it's fast pace just doesn't fit. Nothing really spectacular happens. It's a genre bender and that's not a good thing. Bill Pullman, call your agent and Bridget Fonda's career ended when the credits rolled *1/2
@lifeanddeathofsadman Aw right, sorry (:. Fair enough I guess. It is Ludicrous how Magnolia is in the same category as Baby Geniuse& Pokemon but that's film critics for you. Will hate something just for the sake of it.
@lifeanddeathofsadman He's not wrong, he just had a different opinion from yourself. Maybe his opinion doesn't make sense or his points are bewildered, but an opinion in film reviews can't be wrong if he backs it up and gives reason. I disagree with most film critics but I don't think their opinion is wrong per say. I disagree with Siegel about Magnolia, it shouldn't be on the worst at all, I can't see his point but he is entitled to opinion.
@lifeanddeathofsadman His opinion isn't wrong, no one's opinion is wrong in film reviews, it's only if they can back it up in a good way. What's true to him may not be true to others in vice versa.
My jaw dropped when he said Magnolia. I think it's the best film of all time. How did the frogs not have anything to do with the film? And PTA could obviously weave the stories together. Siegel said it himself "The film was great for the first two hours."
Magnolia on someone's WORST of 1999?! No wonder Siegel was never asked to do another review with Ebert after that. Magnolia is CLEARLY one of the BEST of 1999. Hail Ebert for seeing the true genius in filmmaking.
@moviemaniac14 I didn't even understand Siegal's criticism, I didn't even hear a complaint, but he still had it on the list of the worst. If I hated the movie (I didn't even see it), I would have given examples and legible criticisms
Magnolia is one of those films I'm on the fence about. It is well-written and intriguing, but it goes on WAYYY too long and gets too wrapped up in its own intelligence. Some of the storylines, Philip Seymour Hoffman's and John C. Reily's, are really great, but others, like the kid's and William H. Macy's, are just pointless and go nowhere. And I especially hate how the film will cut away from a conversation, cut back while its till going on, cut again, and it will STILL be going on. Only a 6/10.
@Thomasmemoryscentral Of course a person opinion differs on many things.Siegal's review sounded like someone from the Christian monitor reviewing a movie, which is why I said that he was too conservative to be a contemporary critic.Everyone DOES have their own opinion, and I didn't enjoy Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood at all,and it's probably his best reviewed movie.
If the Lord Thy God saw Baby Geniuses....

The biggest reason Pokemon is such a bad movie is because the message is ludicrously hypocritical.
