  • Great song, underrated duo

  • Good song, beautiful girl x

  • One of the very best.

  • everyone knocked dollar, but they made top catchey tunes..period, and you know you had a crush on teresa...:)

  • Woke up with this song in my head - and I've not heard it since at least 1980something. I always thought it was Bucks Fizz who sang this.

  • David Van Day Brilliant I have a been a fan for years !!!!! wish I could meet him.

  • Used to love this song - and most other stuff done by Dollar. This period of time brings back so many happy memories of the best era of my life.

How sad that David Van Day is now back on the tele quite a bit - and I have never seen such a boring twat who is so completely up his own arse, it truly beggars belief!

As for Thereza Bazar in this vid - WOW 1982 and what a babe! So bloody sexy - unlike modern day trash such as Amy Winehouse.

  • @EssexBoy696969 I so agree, except perhaps what you said about DVD. He should be proud of his achievements in the pop world. The song makes me feel rather sad. This WAS the best era and I genuinely feel sorry for the young today, living in their boring and nasty cultural wilderness.

  • Its funny how this song was originally made by the Buggles

  • Sensational, darling angels!

  • 1982 ,summer hol in ST Tropez.its all good

  • In my opinion, this one's among the 10 greatest songs ever made.

There's no other word than "perfect" to describe the sound. There's not one single note, not one wrong instrumentation, it's just perfect! And, of course, breathtaking / sublime. :-)

  • @MrKnopf I've always adored the multi-tracked, smooth almost over-produced sound to this... The sound is "sparkly" just how Abba added high-end emphasis to the voices...

  • The unmistakable sound of Trevor Horn, brilliant.

  • these were good in there day liked them

  • this song is 27yrs old now..thats frightening where the times gone...remember this being in the charts

  • 27 years old, but not "old" nor dusty AT ALL! ;-)

Anyhow, yes, time goes by pretty fast.

  • their good watched them in pop goes the band

  • The singer is David van day, does that give you a clue???

  • i will keep playing this until my ears bleed,i still love you daviddddd !!!

  • david was a bit of a sickener in im a celeb, but you gotta laugh i spose. dollar wer superb, the 80's were superb, and no one can take that innocence away, what a godsend you tube is

  • God I wish I had a TARDIS ~ where did the years go !

  • that'll be great I love to go into a time machine unfortunately there is no such thing.

  • This should be trapped in a time warp in 1982. But it really is of it's time. Not cool to like it back then. I think we missed something. She was cute, the track was so well crafted and David was, well, David.

Of it's time, but a great reminder of that era. Best track they did by far.

  • Whose David?

  • 27 yrs on

  • keep takin the tablets pigmongol, this is pure mouthwatering 1982, THEE TIME

  • I tell you what the music these days is crap compared, even to the most average of 80's bands !

Loads of bloody gangster rappers shit you can't really dance too !

  • @CMob09 Amen to that....

  • She lives in Australia now, maybe he was trying to get closer to her by going to that jungle ?

  • ;-)

  • This must have been a hit ?

    Sounds good, very 80's

  • Number 17 1982. Should have got much higher as its Dollars best song by a mile IMO!

  • therza looks well fit is this!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I like to watch teenage girlies pee.

  • David Vain Day ,,,,,,,,,,,,,what a twat

  • We hope they forgive and make up soon.

  • Eh Those good old days

  • end of the day dollar is still two people and the right chemsitry

  • This was, and is, a boss song

  • Rhyll 1982.....dexys number 1 with the lads.dancin, singin,a beer or 2 and!!!!!!!! well there ya go.happy days.

  • i agree with you about nichola anyone can get fake boobs and be a page 3 natural is most beautiful

  • Allegedly they couldn't stand the sight of each other!

  • that is where you are wrong! they were romantically involved! when they split up as a duo that is when they broke up they were together since they were 17.

  • amazing!

  • BENIDORM 1982 LOVE IT

  • It would be great if they could remix this to a modern beat and reissue this as it stil sounds good now and was so ahead of its time.

  • he should have done dance mix with flip burgers n fill lol

  • is it mike nolan no its his dad david burger van day at the videoburgertheque

  • Re The Comment below - yes it curtainly takes u back! Set of great memories...

I've seen him in Brighton, he's runs these burger stalls... I had full admiration for him when I saw him, the fact his music career is not so prevelant he is determined to carry on working! I certain hope he comes out top trumos in the Jungle... Big Up DVD!!

  • Like a lot of the folk leaving comments on here, my interest in Dollar was re-awakened by David Van Day's appearance on Jungle Celebrity. I always liked Dollar but I had not realised what an impressive collection of hit singles they had - therefore David is a true celeb on that show, unlike a a certain squeaky voiced plastic ex page 3 girl who should feel honoured to even be allowed to talk to him!!

  • i always thougth Therza Bazar was really sexy

  • dollar are the uk's second most successful male/female duo i think (behind the Eurythmics). they wrote many of their songs and worked with trevor horn to produce their finest hits.

  • I think you're forgetting Yazoo - who sold humungous amounts of records - far, far more than Dollar.

  • Except they didnt!!!

  • I'd check the stats - they did - MILES more, in fact....

  • i watch him in the jungle and i have to say he has aged well x

  • this got to number 2 in my personal chart at the time, is one of dollar's best.

  • My all time favourite record, agree with ajs41, far ahead of its time.

Total travesty it only got to number 17.

    Superb.

  • This is a good example of a song who's production is so far ahead of it's time that people don't appreciate it properly at the time. It could almost sound like a modern-day song if Trevor Horn had gone even further with the pulsating bass-sound and off-on percussion.

  • Brings back some fantastic memories. Thanks

  • "Videotheque" peaked at #17 on the UK Top 40 in July 1982.

  • This video was way ahead of it's time.A "Videoteque" was unheard of when the vid was made.Yet,look at all the clubs now!

  • Such an under-rated song at the time. I remember nobody really thought much of this in 1982. Twenty six years later however this now sounds fabulous!

  • Eighties at its best!

  • By far their best number! Excellent.

  • Loved it then.

    Love it still today.

    Will love it forever.

  • i fancied her too this vid brings it all back magic

  • I really fancied her, but I was 11 at the time.

Trevor Horne made everything sound so good, amazing.

  • OMG, WAY BACK when this song was AWESOME. Neither of them could sing a single note though. The 80s ruled! I cant believe it was 25years ago!

  • poptastic!

  • This is probably July 22nd or 29th 1982 - the second of two performances on TOTP.

  • This song still sounds really good today, I love it. They did some bloody good tunes.

  • The glorious 1980s! YAY!!

  • pop in its purest dangerously addictive and indulgent form

  • Great performance from the moment the camera first lands on them... Criminally underrated song too. She's perfect.

  • David (van Day)...WHERE ARE YOU?!!!

  • Probably in a lay bye fliping burgurs :0)

  • Appeared on a TV special reunion I think he really was flipping burgers for a living ... should have stuck by your woman Dave ... His comments on the show which I am sure he thought were witty and urbane came across as sour grapes, acerbic and bitingly sarcastic ... like many people in the 'trade' I was very disappointed in his lack of courtesy and the 'attitude'. Perhaps he finally realized - Dollar IS still all about Thereza Bazar. Great video - thanks for sharing it Albertobalsam

  • Sensaional

  • 1982 benidorm class.what a song

  • Hurrah for Albertobalsam!

  • Fantastic production, beautifully presented and sung; and the greatest gift of all: Thereza Bazar.

  • Nice one Albertobalsam - nice shampoos too ;-)

  • Trevor Horn in excelsis! Terese Bazar O praise thee! Dollar on the money.

  • ah the memories...love this track and still play the 7" vinyl of it sometimes

  • Absolutely love the progressive sound of this track. Trevor Horn is a production genious. Dollar brought hyis his experimentation to life. Love it.

  • yes this song does have fabulous instrumentation on it

all done by the fairlight cmi prophet 5 and a liinn drum.

therezas sampled vocals really took music into the future.

i would like tosee them come back and i agree that this is a robbed top ten song butit did shift 250 thousandcopies in those days a week so it beats the pants off todays wimpy efforts you can say what you want about dollar but they had the sound of the future!

  • 66,000 copies in one week is big by today's standards.

  • I remember seeing this on TOTP the first time it came out and confidently predicting it was headed for #1. Very disappointed to see it not even reach the Top 10. Great song, great instrumentation. For me, I think its their best.

  • Hey you guys mabye we should form a bring back Dollar campaign! thx for the video I have added it to my favourites!

  • Dollar fab band .They should reform and bring out more classics like this.

Oh i bought the platinum collection great cd at long last the girls are out to get you is on cd and you take my breathe away

  • Yes, got the Give Me Back My Heart video

  • Yes - Hand Held In Black & White, TOTP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSY4nVddHig

Doesn't Thereza look stunning here in her black dress and bowler hat.

Have you bought 'Dollar - The Platinum Collection' cd yet? All Trevor Horn's tracks are remastered with 12" versions and tracks off The Dollar Album / Paris Collection

  • great group takes me back does anybody have any more dollar

  • yep i have some dollar live performances
