  • Maybe look up how "compact" is defined. Could be wrong but compact is 3.5inch barrel to 4.0. Sub-compact is less than 3.5. Some people have larger hands so extended makes sense, this let them try each and purchase more of their preference. Any I'm considering Glock 36 but kinda want something different for differents sake. Don't want to spend more than 700-800 though. Really like the look of Springfield's micro-operator(think that's what it is called).

  • Look at all you XD fanboys. I like how it's a biased review because he doesn't suck Springfield's cock like all you fangirls.

Superbeast....don't be mad because GLOCK is the premier firearm on the planet.

  • Another biased Glock fan....

  • Too bad Tacky Timmy does not even realize that the XD is a fully cocked(not partialy) & ready to fire gun when it's in the loaded carrying state. He said twice that he does not understand why they put a grip safety on it??? WOW. Maybe if he spent more time actually learning about the gun itself, rather than laughing at the factory accessories, then he might have a slim chance in knowing what he is talking about. Wouldn't want him anywhere near me at the range. What a waste of video!

  • Its a shame ole Tactical Tim's review was based more upon his personal likes and dislikes than it was about the real attributes and capabilities of the gun. Nothing he griped about are deficiencies in this gun. By my understanding, he had no failures, stopages, broken parts, and the gun was accurate. Wow, what a horrible handgun. Unfortunately, the XD45 Compact didn't get its due in the review. Its a truly terrific handgun.

  • I don't care if you're using your knees for support - unless the pistol is in a vice, you're testing the marksmanship of the shooter and NOT the accuracy of the gun.

  • Also, the reliability on the XD is great. It isn't a Glock, but it's comprable. This might be because I have USMC training in cleaning all of my firearms and maintaining them, but after over 2,000 rounds, I have not had a jam in my XD. Occasionally, after a few hundred rounds, the slide does not lock back after the mag runs dry, but that isn't a jam.

Then again, I've never had an AR jam either, because I take care of my weapons.

  • The XD is an improvement on the Glock. I like both, but I personally find the features of the XD much better, particularly in that you failed to mention that is a thin gun for being double-stacked .45 ACP. I also find it more usable in actual combat shooting, particularly if the extended mags are used. It is full size when needed.

You didn't mention the mag holster it comes with, which is awesome, and if you are going to concealed carry, you will get another holster anyway. This review sucks.

  • He's MISinformative.

  • To everyone who doesn't like the grip safety...what's not to like? Your hand is going around the grip anyways. And the glock trigger was designed to prevent the gun from firing unless the trigger is intentionally pulled. Neither of these features reduce the weapons effectiveness in any way, but they make accidental discharge next to impossible.

  • Junk gun, good review.

  • @andylew You have one? I do. And I carry it as my CCW almost daily. After almost 2k rounds, I've yet to have an failure of any kind with it. Not bad for a 'junk' gun. Its stupid comments like this that give all gun owners a bad reputation.

  • This an informational video that points out the features of the gun, whether or not the guy likes or dislikes the gun, or whether or not he's a douche is irrelevant

  • Biased

  • Some of the reasons you didn't like the XD 45 a the reason why I like them. You should also know that the tigger was made that way not to prevent the finger from accidental discharge, but the gun from inertia discharge. The reason the trigger was designed that easy (as did Glock and others) was because if the gun was dropped, the weight of the trigger itself won.t move the trigger back upon impact aka inertia, and thus the only was to move the trigger all the way back is by placing the finger

  • @gandllr He points out all of the reasons I won't buy this gun.

  • @andylew None of which make it a bad or inferior gun. I'm not fond of the Glock platform, but that doesn't make it a bad platform or gun. We have 20+ different handgun manufacturers in the US and abroad, and an almost infinite number of hangun models, so we can all practice "each to their own".

  • Good review Springfield Xd's are whack

  • Tim i love your videos man. Im about to buy my first handgun and would love if you could get your hands on a smith and wesson SD40. I cant decide between that one and the springfield XD 45 compact.

  • so you criticize the gun for being too safe.......huh

  • You don't even know Tenifer is not the external finish, it's a metal treatment underneath the finish.

  • Sir you are a grown ass man why do you have gel in your hair..

  • I can understand you not liking the the grip safety but how can you say that it is fine on a 1911 that you carry cocked and locked and not for a xd45 that you carry the same way essentially where the striker not a hammer is charged

  • @heltononetn Because its a redundant safety on a striker fired pistol that already has multiple safeties. A 1911 has a hair trigger... no comparable to a striker fired trigger.

  • I dont consider the Glock or the XD to be double action only pistols in the same context as The Sig or HK DAO models, with that being said, I see having a grip safety on a "Striker" fired pistol a great feature. A police officer in Oregon had the cord of his windbreaker caught inside the trigger guard of his Glock while it was holstered and The gun discharged shooting him in the leg. If the Glock had a grip safety this couldn't have happened in this situation.

  • Love my xd .45 and the holster works just fine, and it was free so why gripe..? I can put a group like no tomorrow, and the ergonomics are excellent..!! Love the sights...!! Also like the 13 +1 Mag capacity.. Nice Springfield product, and any intruders worst nightmare... : )

  • The holster is small and practical. The speedloader would mount to your double magazine holder. Try loading 6 hi-capacity mags without the speed loader and you're gonna have some sore fingers. Glock must've paid this bozo. Next video try not to say umm, 500 times.

  • your such a baby haha and btw the glock 30 also has a 10 round mag and its a tiny gun perfect for conceal carry so im sure the xd compact is as well

  • Tim I enjoy your videos. Unfortunately there are a lot of "critics" who take offense at your opinions. I find that laughable that some viewers get pissed because you talk about your own opinions! Anyways I found your comments about the holster and mag loader funny as hell! i couldn't stop laughing. Keep up the good work.

  • Wow, really doesn't look A LOT like a glock. Keep calling the guns you buy stupid and then give them more money Tacticool guy.

  • you can have your own opinions and whatnot, but when you are reviewing a gun, you dont have to be such a dick about it.

  • Dude you are an douche u don't know shit so shut ur fucking mouth my fuckin nephew could out shoot you

  • When looking for a carry gun I wanted a .45 and tried a G30 SF at the range but the grip was just too chunky for me so I ended up going with a G26 that paired up well with the G17 I already had. If I ever want to upgrade to a .45 (that doesn't have a manual safety) the XD 45 compact is a great option. So the small ergonomic grip is a pretty big selling point.

  • a lot of "group think" going on on this comment section

  • worst review of this Gun ever. you Don't no Shit about guns buddy.

  • I dont like the safety on pistols. I focus on the grip safty to much and the accutriger was made for rifles usually.

  • Tim's funny. Fun review, although I was a little surprised to see the XD get knocked. I've heard nothing but good things from everyone I've talked to. But hey, even bad press is good press and now i wanna go try one out myself. Keep 'em coming Tim!

  • Hi Tim, the only thing I'd mention in the review is that the Glock got ruled a double action because even though there is alittle cocking on the striker when the action is cycled you still have to cock the striker back as you pull the trigger, I suspect why the HS2000 has a grip safety is that it's actually a single action, the only thing the trigger does is release the striker. It's a minor thing but it might be why they put that grip safety on there.

  • You can mount a laser to the holster so you can accurately throw the holster at someone =)

  • @FireArmsResQ You have a rail on the gun, so you can mount your speed loader to it and a rail on your holster and TWO rails on your mag pouch so you can put a light on one side, a laser on the other side, and a pistol bayonet on your cheesy holster. lol I have to laugh now that springfield has the "essentials package" for the HS2000, I mean the XD that doesn't have all that crap. At least century arms when you buy a 50 year old Makarov gives you a decent leather holster and its only 200 bucks.

  • You know he whines alot about this gun and in all honestly this would make a great gun for ppl just getting into guns and would want a complete kit like this the holster isnt that bad its a great gun and if he would learn how to grip the gun the back strap safety he wouldnt have to cry about so much as long as u grip the gun correct u shouldnt need to whine about it and in all fairness any double stack magazined 45 acp isnt going to be the best for cc

  • lots of bitching

  • I know "Tactical Tim" didn't say much about the XD 45 compact but I'm an owner of that pistol and let me tell you, the XD 45 compact is heaven-sent. I shot around 200-300 rounds at the range and shooting it was a breeze. It's a smooth, calm recoil unlike my Glock 27 which has a snappy kick to it. The XD 45 Compact not only has a really smooth recoil, but it's accurate. My grouping was good enough to put several large holes in my target and that was my first time shooting a 45. AMAZING pistol

  • @08EB08 it's single action only because tge triger works pretty much the same way on a 1911, it only releases the fireing pin(or hammer). Double action is when the triger both pulls the striker or hammer back then releases it. The one striker fired pistols to have double action are tge Walther P99AS and the Walther P99DAO, dose that make sence? And some states require muliple safity for importation, like California and New York.

  • this guy is a fucking idiot...I own one of these...the exact model actually and use it for CC all the time carrying it cocked and locked..so of course it would make sense to have both safety features..i don't see why they needed a grip safety on a 1911 however it has a manual safety...whatever...a great gun hands down..but a douchebag critic

  • Tim, I'll never understand some of you guys complaining about safeties on guns. If a safety gets in your way, then you need MORE TRIGGER TIME with the gun. BUT, I own a, XDM 3.8 .40 S&W, and you're right about the stuff they put in the case: cheap plastic that sort of actually detracts from the package.

  • its not single or double... it's a Striker Fire... come on

  • Internet people are so mean.

  • tactical tim is a nonsense guy ..

LOOK UP FOR THIS GUY HERE ON YOUTUBE INSTEAD

    "hickok45" -the godfather of guns

  • He is not right in the head and I hope those who are looking for the first time go else wear. What I don"t understand with the people who review this line of XD's do not point out two of the best features. The loaded chambers indicator which you can see and feel on top of slide and weather the gun is cocked, the back of the slide has a pin that sticks out. I just wish XD would put some good sights on these guns. Goodbye Tim take up another hobby please. u don't have a clue.

  • The XD isn't Double-Action Only, it's Single Action Only. Hence the grip safity, the triger safity is required as an extra safity sistom required for import into the USA. Springfield only import them there not made buy them

  • @SoapMactavish90 How is it single action only? Oh and why would you need an extra safety system to import a gun to the US?

  • why are u downing it for not being a subcompact when its a compact

  • tim can u compare the extras from xd with the extras from glock

  • tim u said u have to pull the trigger safty before the trigger will work and i dont see anyway to pull the trigger wihtout pulling that so its not in the way

  • stop friggen stuttering, this guy is weird and whats wrong with getting extra crap with your gun i dont see any other company giving the buyer extra crap(holster, mag holder) so shut up and go away.

  • Its single action only, WTF. That is why you have a grip saftey.

  • have you reviewed the springfield xdm 45 yet or the fnh 45 tac

  • tactical tim is the reason i didnt join uscc.

  • @tjjensen81 I don't know what your issue is with him. I find him very informative and an all around nice guy. What is your excuse?

  • whats ridiculous about the holster? its a perfectly functional holster.

  • @goodinsrt8

he carries the gun in his ass, that's why he does not like the holster

  • @harckez that makes sense, why use a holster when you have a huge gapeing ass hole. thats for clearing that up, but I think i will stick with the holster for now.

  • GUYS press play and pause really quickly and hold down the 6 key above the qwerty.

  • i agree. for a self proclaimed uscca representative, he is completely unprofessional. and a little annoying and yes, TNP for life!!

  • i cant stand watching anything this guy reviews. NUTNFANCY TNP !!!!!

  • What a moron.

  • no not 6 i meant 3.. just keep hitting 3 lol

  • @IzKiinGzIhahahahhahahahahaha the number 3 thing is funny!!! btw i agree this is a shit review... the xd.45 is a greaaattttt gun!

  • Tap the key 6 really fast and youll laugh your ass off

  • This guy is a douche.

  • @crapinstein summer's eve or massengill?

  • awesome video as usual keep up the great reviews!!

  • At 4:05

These rails are located on each side of the holster, and according to Bill Dermody, Springfield's manager of advertising and marketing, they were incorporated into the design because there are times when a duty officer does not want his tactical light to be attached to the pistol but needs to have fast access to it. Don't make fun on what you don't know.

  • Pause, play and hit the 6 key over and over lmao

  • Comment removed

  • Loved the review, you were cracking me up when talking about the magazine loader.

The guys on here whining...nobody in the industry who does firearms training/consulting recommends the XD pistols...aside from Clint Smith (Thunder Ranch). The pistols are not top shelf even though gun store employees and range buddies have been hyping it up for a long time now.

It is an affordable play/range gun designed to grab as much Glock market share as possible (w/smart advertising, free goodies...)

  • @dannysees

Really? And what makes it not a good tactical weapon? I guess the ambidextrous mag realease? The rail? The lack of thumb safety? Or are you another that doesn't like it because it's made in Croatia? GRANTED, I dislike the grip safety on a carry/duty weapon, but this gun is a very capable shooter and one I personally have no qualms about carrying as a personal defense weapon.

  • Folks because Tim has a point of view does not indicate bias

Maybe some talking point would help similar to nutnfancy might help or maybe as part of the review a table top section on how each gun is field stripped etc.

Then you can do a comparison with the puts and takes of each weapon

    In His Name

  • I understand that everyone compares everything to the Glock but come on. There is nothing wrong with the Glock but if you think it is the only good handgun out there then you will miss out on many very good or even better guns. To be honest I think the Glock is very wrong for a lot of people because of its lack of trigger safety control like an external safety or grip safety. I think the average person who is going to conceal carry would be better served with something other than a Glock.

  • worst gun review ever!!!

  • This is the worst review I have ever watched. TIM.... you never even mentioned the "striker status indicator" and "Loaded chamber indicator" both of which can be checked by touch in low or no light situations.

Steve with Safe Arms Review has a MUCH more comprehensive and UN biased review of this weapon, he's a combat guy, I'm a combat guy and most combat guys will agree that the XD has features that make it very appealing in a combat or sef defense situation.

  • Tim, I noticed you use Glock in most (maybe all) of your holster/CC type videos.

I feel like from this video you have become Biased, albeit without meaning to.

  • BIASED!!!!!

  • Oh, man, XDs work for me way better than Glocks. My Glock 19 went in the drawer never to be seen again as soon as I got my XD9 4" barrel. The G19 was a good gun but the XD is so much more comfortable in my hand, I like the XD's controls much better, and I can shoot the XD more accurately. The XD's grip safety doesn't bother me but I understand why some people hate it.

  • I own a G22 and G21SF I like them both very much. Proven and reliable. But my XD subcompact is the best weapon Ive ever owned! Awesome trigger right out of the box... unlike my glocks that need some smooooothing out. When Springfield sells them with fiberoptic sights they will have the perfect pistol. IMHO

  • it comes down to it you CAN NOT compare a glock and an xd they are way different. people just feel the need to compare everything to a glock just look at hickok45. the xd is proven just as well as the glock. does glock give you a holster? a mag loader? or a mag holder?

  • @ftman390 Do what I did, buy both Glock and XD hehe. :D

  • Accidentally pressed enter. Lol. I was going to say I don't have one yet, so I have been doing lots of research. Either you are right saying this is a double action only trigger and EVERYONE else is an idiot, or you are the idiot and everyone else is right. Now which one is it?

  • Wait a minute everyone I have spoken with and every web site I have ever been says this gun has a single action trigger. Now, I don't have one yet, so ive

  • If you are making a video meant to inform or educate people it helps if you have knowledge to begin with. No a grip safety doesn't make much sense on a double action only gun. The XD platform is single action. The gun is already cocked and the trigger just releases the sear letting the striker do it's job. Entertaining video = yes. Factual and useful video = no. Take the time to know about what you speak about and your videos will do some good. Just my opinion, Thanks.

  • @puddwakkr "The XD platform is single action". Very Well pointed Sir. Guy says He's UNBIASED.......No way!!!! He's a Glock and Glock only guy.

  • I was wondering why so many people are against grip safeties. Does this make the gun worse? Does it make the gun harder to use? In my experience the answers are no. It is an extra safe feature that won't slow you down if you really need to use your pistol. If you want to be careful though, while holstering the pistol, you can just move your palm back off the grip safety and push the pistol in with the heel of your hand and your thumb. Just incase something gets stuck in the trigger well.

  • Nice Vid. I checked on your group on this gun. Very nice. Take a look at South America's map. You just draw Brazil's map.

Give it more shooting range time and you'll see yourself favoring it over the Glock 45 acp

  • hey, i was wondering wich is the best handgun or caliber to use with an ankle holster?

  • @ramses200382 probably a .380

  • @ramses200382 I use S&W Airweight .38 special on my ankle holster. :) But its really up to you and what you like cause everyone is different.

  • I watched your HK45C vido too. It's no wonder HK won't send you any more guns. You mentioned in this XD45C video that you buy all your own guns... that's because no gun mfr. in their right mind would send you one to review. Just out of curiosity, what gun do you actually like?

  • You and this video are rediculous for so many reasons. Your website will definitely not be receiving an additional visit from me. The safety trigger serves a purpose that you clearly don't understand based on your comments in the video.

  • the magazine speedloader goes backwards on the tactical rail of the pistol so you can push the gun down on the table to load quicker.

  • wow that was a poor video

  • springfield didnt design the gun...it was accualy sold as the HS2000 for a long time. The safety features have saved many people, i dont know how many guys i've seen rushed off the range because the trigger snagged on clothing while re-holstering and went bang! dont get me wrong, Glocks rock...the XD just offers more bang for the buck; furthermore the accessories may not be top of the line...its not ment to be. they work just fine for the avg person/ range use

  • Comment removed

  • DAO eh?...joke...

  • this guy is a scam artist, his website just trys to sell a bunch of nonsense

  • @backdraft216

    are you an XD fan?

  • Great firearm

  • changed the intro?

  • if you grip the gun correctly and pull the trigger correctly, you wont even notice the safety features

  • You should also show how well these pistols are to conceal and how comfortable they are to have on your person, since your are reviewing for USCCA it just makes sense. Great Videos anyways!

  • The trigger on the XD is lighter and does not have the long travel of the glock, hence the grip safety.

And if you didnt like the glock trigger, and dont like the grip safety, then dont buy the damn gun and proceed to bitch about those features! Its not like you bought it without knowing about those features!

And the "crappy" holster works just great! I have a 9mm service model that i can easily hide under an overshirt with the provided holster!

  • As the 119th commenter on this video this has probably been mentioned already but HEY TIM! That thing in the trigger is to prevent the inertia of the trigger bar assembly from discharging the gun if it happens to take a heavy impact or drop onto the back side of the gun. It has nothing at all to do with an object entering the trigger guard. Good production quality, though.

  • i wish XD's were DOA...

  • hey time so what do you recomend for my first gun, a glock or the xd?

  • Tim: time for more vids, man. Missing them.

  • I enjoy your reviews. Keep up the good work.

  • This guy is has Glock tunnel vision.

  • This guy is a TACTICAL DOUCHE !!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This guy make grate reviews but he never answer anything to his subscribers. I have not seen one reply made by him in this video. You might think I'm a troll but even Hikok45 reply his questions but as I said he make good reviews and I am subscribed to his channel.

  • Tim you never told us if you liked shooting the gun? or how it did in you hand?

  • I own both the xd 45 compact and the xd 45 tactical model. I work as a armed security officer and carry my tactical model ever day and the compact as my cwp handgun. At least 1000 rounds through each and not one problem ever.

  • XD is SAO (look at the striker: all the way back), so the grip safety is essential. I used to think the trigger was stupid too, but then I found out it's a drop safety, not a manual safety. It's to prevent the trigger from going back if the gun is dropped. Ruger had to add it to the SR9 because the first run had dropping issues.

  • Thanks for the review. The XD is not a DAO action system. If anything it's consider a SAO striker. I got a Springfield custom combat action job with over-travel adjustment. Lowered trigger pull to 4.25lbs (nice to have that grip safety) and cut the reset by 50%, shorter then even the Glock. Also replaced the stock sights with XS Big Dots. Perfect mid size carry .45. I have a 40sc for deeper concealment with the same mods.

  • Please review the Px4 sub compact by beretta. Thanks

  • yea the extra stuff they give you is total crap i would never use any or it but i guess its cool they give it to you

  • And regarding DA/SA, sure it's labeled as DA but as already stated, the XD is essentially SA. Pulling the trigger performs only one action, releasing the sear, therefore single action.

  • Thanks for the review but imo not very useful. I'm not sure if it is because Tim is biased or just not well informed about the XD but it just came across as pure hate whether it was intended to be or not. Even with nutnfancy's glock bias, he seems to be more informed on what he is commenting on...sometimes.

7 years was a long time ago but this firearm was 2003 handgun of the year but you would never guess after watching this video.

  • cant wait till nutinfancy reviews this.

  • @android17ak47

im pretty sure he's reviewed the springfield xd

  • good job

  • @4167robert

So, Robert..I am curious. What is so good about Tim's video?

Maybe you are not a gun owner or have not been one long, and or have not handled many different types of weapons/pistols. I don't know. But, I'm glad you liked it. It is a free country. But, if you read most of the comments, and yes, mine too, informed analysis of this video has tried to show he did not do a credible job. Are you a member of USCCA?? Many of us are. We "kinda" know Tim.

    This video stunk, period.

  • I kinda have to laugh as I read all the comments..plus the attitudes, etc. But, remember the real reason we are here leaving our comments was due to Tim's very weak presentation of A pistol. This was not solely to argue over the merits of the XD or XDM. I own 2 and personally really like these pistols. I just wanted Tim to do a much better job of how he prepares and conducts his videos. Otherwise, they are just a waste of peoples time.

My Kimber .45 has more issues than an XD by far.

  • @MilvetretUSAF I concur. I think Tim's review of the XD was weak and incomplete. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I would like him to study and give more complete and factual reviews before he presents them. Based on this presentation, it will bring into question his future reviews. I joined the USCCA and paid up for two years. I would not like to think my money and time is wasted.

  • @richthib44 I joined over 2 years ago and I admit Tim is still going through a "learning curve"...but, with that said, USCCA has become much better. The magazine has progressed and is pretty good. He has added lots of knowledgeable people as contributers to the magazine. I think Tim has tried too many gimmicks, sends out way too many emails, and, again, his "Tactical Tim" videos are not good. and for him, not a good idea. I've talked to them about that. But, I've seen progress.

  • @MilvetretUSAF I agree with your perspective. The USCCA is a good idea Tim has started. I hope he will step back and re-evaluate some of his presentation. Like you said, he is going through a learning curve and I look forward to better things to come.

  • @richthib44 I just received an email from USCCA...what a shock! LOL!! As of July 1 they no longer are using any ads in the magazine. That's good! Apparently they can now afford to put together an increasingly better magazine without us having to sift through pages of ads. Unheard of with any mag. But, as he said, they are not just any other mag. out there. It has a very specific purpose. I sent an email back addressing his videos and "progress" with USCCA. I hope he takes note.

  • @MilvetretUSAF I just got the same email. Thanks. I hope he does take note.

  • Tim, your concealability rating on this gun is worse than a full sized Glock 21? I know these are your "unbiased" opinions, but that's frankly ridiculous, and calls into question all of your "reviews."

  • I've learned on the full size xd .45acp and am thinking about getting the compact version for easier concealment.....I wasn't thrilled about the holster, either, my xd got hung up quite frequently and didn't let me draw smoothly,so I just got a different one, no big deal....didn't anybody notice that the speedloader (very handy) is meant to attach to backside of the magazine pouch, where it belongs?..lol other than that I love my xd

  • I use this weapon for my primary daily carry and all I can say is it is ACCURATE (I shot a paint can from 150 feet!) and reliable. I have had less then optimal experience with 2 other pistols I have tried. I use the SmartCarry most of the time and a shoulder holster in colder weather.

I also thought the tactical rail on the reloader was a little strange, but the reloader is essential for when you get to the last few rounds if you are going to load a full mag.

  • I have an XD40 and an XD45. The holster isn't great, but it works until you figure out what type of holster you want. I like the CrossBreed ITWB. Grip safety is handy in reholstering, you can release your grip enough to allow the safety to prevent UD.

The mag loader, when new tends to get stuck on the mag, a bit of lube (gun grease, chap stick, ...) fixes it. When running 200-300 rounds each day, for several days in a row, this piece of plastic is the only thing that saves my fingers.

  • Tim, The XD is a single action. The grip safety is a good idea. I like this gun. I don't like the Glock. You failed to mention a couple features I believe are useful for safety sake. The cocked indicator and the chamber loaded indicator. Did you see the 20,000 round torture test? I got the XDM 9mm 3.8 for a canceled carry and use it with the CrossBreed ITWB holster and it conceals very nicely with the 19 round magazine on my 5'-8" 175 pound frame.

  • @richthib44 Listen this guy is going on about how he doesn't like the safety features on the gun and he doesn't even know why they're there. The trigger safety is if you drop the gun on its butt end then the translational force wont set it off.The safety on the back of the gun is not being copied its just a good idea, and the reason the loading mag has a rail on it is because it doubles a third mag holder.Thous the reason I'm calling this guy a idiot because he is relaying false information.

  • @DJsnow187 The trigger would have to be awfully heavy to actuate and fire the weapon when dropped on the butt, especially if this is double action only weapon..??

None of us are experts; I learn every day, but I think you're a little off here in pointing fingers.

  • @komputec Listen that's one of the reason why it has the safety feature on the trigger. Also the other comments I made about the gun are right as well. You seem not to know what your talking about so I would suggest you keep your mouth shut especially because I wasn't talking to you in the first place. Now if you don't believe what I'm telling you there is a thing called Google which you can you to find the exact answer as what I already told you.Now have a good day and don't bother to respond.

  • @DJsnow187 I've been shooting and building, probably since you were in diapers; so, get back with us when you grow up. From the look of your comments, you couldn't be over 12.

  • @komputec Didn't I tell you not to respond??I don't care about your opinions...Also don't get mad when I state facts about something you know nothing about.

  • @DJsnow187 As you'll notice, I don't take commands from idiots, and I don't think anyone else in here will question who is acting like an ass.

  • @komputec Whatever you know I'm right and you cant prove me wrong. That's the reason your mad its ok.lol lol lol

  • @richthib44 SA's web site says this pistol is DAO.

  • @komputec BATF classifies the XD & XDM as a single action according to the info I've read. I understand the striker to be fully cocked with the trigger performing a single action of firing, hence the reason for grip and trigger safety. The XDM has a shorter reset than the XD and feels a little more crisp out of the box. I ended up with the XDN 9 3.8 Stainless and black. What ever you want to call it, I like it and its features.

  • @richthib44 I guess I should proof read better. My bad with the typo. Meant XDM not XDN.

  • @richthib44 Yeah, I can't speak from experience on this one; I've not even had one in my hand. With the questioning in this area, I went to their site and posted what I saw there. Again, I've not touched one and only went from that information. Thanks!

  • This guy is a fucking idiot.......

  • @DJsnow187

    Gee, then don't watch him.

Personally, I think it's great that he's taking the time to do this completely unbiased, unscripted, unrehearsed review of weapons. He tells what he doesn't like. I don't agree with everything he talks about being "stupid" but if something really bothers YOU, I see you say it with strong words ("idiot") so I'm sure you can understand his use of the strong words "stupid", "ridiculous". Anyway, his free, unbiased paper reviews are worth it - get them.

  • @tuberslb

Since Tim is the President and CEO of USCCA and has numerous adjunct instructors and writers in his magazine that are "industry professionals" and active and retired LE officers his "instructional/informational" video was pretty bad. I know you found it on YouTube..but, you probably didn't know his job and position. So, with that said, Tim must do a much better job of making these videos. They don't come close to matching the pro reviewers he employs. Maybe he should use them.

  • @tuberslb I think Tim should take more time to study the firearms he reviews. He was sadly lacking in information on the Springfield XD and XDm series pistols. I'm just saying, it makes him look less knowledgeable than he portrays himself when he makes comments and remarks that are not accurate or completely factual.

  • Thanks for the info. I have an SA catalog, and I looked again at their web site.

The XD Gear shows items available to order....including paddle type carriers.

Tim has an XD standard version with the standard gear....belt type carriers.

I can't tell by the pictures showing the XD (M) cases...for sure...but, they appear to have the foam cut out for the paddle style carriers. So, it appears the M versions come with paddle styles. Now we can put this to rest! LOL!!

  • @MilvetretUSAF

Agreed..it's settled. I'm an idiot and I was wrong. I did exactly what Tim did in the video and I stated something as a fact without doing my homework first. I can only hope that it won't happen again and I've learned my lesson.

  • @M9B8A Hey, I've made more mistakes than I can count.

I did notice that the M model appears to give you a paddle holster, but, a belt type mag. carrier. Oh, well. I do know this. The XD's are a great pistol platform. And I know the M version made it even better. The M's are excellent LE weapons.

My son is a police officer in a large city.

  • @MilvetretUSAF

Yeah, my XDM is head and shoulders above the regular XD. A much better trigger reset and a better feeling gun all around. I hope your son never has to use his in the line of fire, but if he does, I'm confident it'll perform admirably.

  • To all those that need to know and should know the difference in holster styles.

I viewed Tim's video again. The XD Gear he has, and in all XD's that I know of, contain a BELT holster, and a magazine pouch. These are NOT paddle holsters.

A paddle holster has a formed portion that goes BEHIND the belt/pants and up against the body. These are belt type holsters. The paddle holds it in place. These belt types are held in place by your belt....only. Call SA if you don't believe me.

  • @MilvetretUSAF

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but go to the SA website and find the XD Gear area then click on the holsters link...I tried to copy it in here but stupid YouTube won't allow it. Anyway, you will see that there are paddle holsters available for the XDs and the way it was packaged in my box was very similar to the way the mag pouch looks in this video, so that's why I made the mistake. After looking at the video again, I realized I was incorrect.

  • Is Tim shooting an XDM??? The title doesn't say that, and I don't think he does. I'll have to watch again. Anyway, I don't have the M versions. Do they have paddle holsters??? The standard XD Gear does not. All belt stuff.

  • @M9B8A

Naaaah... M9B8A, you are wrong. I own the XD and Tim has it right. The box does not include a 'paddle' holster. The part you refer to is a double magazine pouch...

I am in partial agreement with you regarding the quality of the review. While Tim compared the trigger of the XD to the Glock, he didn't discuss this in detail. I am of the opinion that the Glock trigger is far superior to the XD out of the box...
