  • It's probably too early for a theramin - sounds like a slide whistle to me. It does have less of the "slide" sound than, say, Spike Jones would use.

  • The WGN radio line was out of the Blackhawk restaurant, not hotel. There was a Blackstone hotel. Only Joe and Coonie had Cords, the others, Auburns, all roadsters. It was not unusual for them to drive to local gigs in two or three Auburns, with tops down playing their instruments as they pulled up to their engagement. Coon was stricken with an abcessed tooth on the train returning the band back to Chicago from their NYC stay. By the time they returned, the infection had spread and he died.

  • @edmundusrex The theremin was patented in 1928. Most likely a slide whistle.
