RoverTCB- According to the track-listing for the compilation 'Time-Life Presents: The Teen Years', which this song is on, by the way, in case you wanna look it up for yourself/don't believe me, this song was listed as being performed by Dion & The Belmonts.; You had it posted right, the first time.
if u want a great version of just about any song (including this one) get spotify. it is free and if u exit spotify as soon as the song ends, u won't get the guy talking after the song. I do this and make a cassette tape from spotify, then use audacity to burn a cd from the tape. any questions - email me at tomfelock@comcast.net. i am telling u this because i love great music and want others to be able to share what i have learned.
Awful...Horrible...Soul-less whitey robots in tune! No wonder Elvis & then The Beatles blew the roof off of pop music, and everything changed forever. I'd like to thank the true soul brothas & sistahs that inspired them, because it sure as heck wasn't these starched & stiff-as-a-board ass-clowns!
I believe you were correct the first time,. It was released 11/59 by Dion & Belmonts. Dion DiMucci Lead Tenor, backed up by Carlo Mastroangelo, Angelo D'Aleo & Fred Milano. The '57 Belmont tunes had Carlo as lead tenor, sans Dion.
I agree with vidstatic. In this song the Belmonts don't sound that great. But with the original version with Dion...both they and Dion are fantastic. I also LOVE That's My Desire with Dion and the Belmonts..
@sohooded ... You are right. My mother loved to sing this song when I was little and Peggy Lee was one of her favorites. My intention was to to acknowledge the fact that Dion and the Belmonts recorded this before the Belmonts.
I knew it was recorded before Dion but I didn't know it was by Peggy Lee.
Thanks for your comments. It is a beautiful song. Sadly, the quaility of songs like this being written seems ot have disappeared. Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Rodgers & Hart, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington....where are people like them today???
I wonder why they would record again a song they had already taken to the heights of perfection with Dion singing lead. This is a very good version but still only second to the one a year before.
Wait! I didn't read first!! THIS IS NOT Dion w. Belmonts-- I wonder who they are though-- they should be given proper credit for this great perfomance!
Nothing like Acapella ! A Beautiful sound :o)

Could someone please post the original song with Dion. It is without a doubt Dion and the Belmonts greatest hit.

I had never heard The Belmonts after Dion left, until I heard a DJ play one of their acapella songs. Awesome sound.
Would really love to get this CD. Thanks for the memories!!!!

This IS the Belmonts. Dion had left the group and pursued his own career.
This song was originally made by Dion and these Belmonts.

@Dudley1948, Dudley, this song was written in 1941 by Rodgera and Hart, and was originally made famous by the Benny Goodman Orchestra with Peggy Lee,

Another great one from my high school days. One of the greatest of the a cappella (with no accompaniment) songs of all times!

This is not the hit version by Dion and the Belmonts. It actually sounds like a non-professional group. No9 bad, but not Dion's level.
