When people say they "tolerate" gay people makes me so fucking angry. I think Thanksgiving is a ridiculous holiday and I refuse to celebrate it, but if I did sure as hell would not share my tofurkey with anyone like her. Judging by her haircut, she obviously does not know any gay people.
To address the most important issue here, I'll be brief: why is there a semicolon in the title of this video instead of a colon?
What, are you lukewarm about gay rights? Can't go full colon on gay marriage? Sheesh. What is that anyway? Is it like, "honey, I'll just put in the head" or something? To paraphrase Thatcher: don't go wobbly on me now.
Okay, I have to say something here. There is this irritant poster on this page. One calling them-self, ALGfunk. People! Stop responding to him. His comment "fuk gays" was nothing more that trying to stir the pot. He's just an attention-seeking loser pest. He's provoking and antagonizing for sno other reason that to get EVERYONE WORKED UP. Playing ALL OF US for saps when you give him the hype he wants.
She can take her blessings and shove them up her bigoted ass. I love hearing what you have to say, Latham. Letting shit like this slide is precisely why people can pass these laws against others rights under the radar so easily. People need to know that it's NOT okay and it IS absolutely repugnant to demand tolerance of their own intolerance.
Again with the big hug. I should state that I live in Massachusetts and even here, married gay couples still have (legally) over 700 less rights/benefits than straight couples. That being said- I would hate to ever disagree with you. A debate with you is not something I'd ever want to endure. Well done. Best, j
Look at the like bar for this video. Now the like bar for Mary's.
This video only has a fraction of the views and 579 people agree with it, while out of the nearly 40,000 people that watch Mary's only 13 people thought to agree.
@RCSVirginia It's funny that, isn't it? (Well, actually... it's more infuriating than funny really.) It's baffling how these moralisers seem oblivious to the fact that they pick and choose which 'sins' to go all crazy over whilst ignoring the stuff they themselves do day in, day out...
I could not have said it better myself. It is infuriating that these people are picking out supposed sins based on selective passages to attack others, but ignoring any texts that may apply to their own lives or be inconvenient for them to have to follow.
"Most ancient societies needed a secure environment for the perpetuation of the species,a system of rules to handle the granting of property rights, and the protection of bloodlines. The institution of marriage handled these needs." Marriage has become a religious thing for so many people, but it has never been strictly a religious thing. People marry for different and selfish reasons. Gay marriage should be the last concern of those wishing to "protect the sanctity" of marriage.
I have nothing against homosexuals. BUT every single one of them, who wants to get a gay marriage, should think for a moment. Homosexuality isn't allowed in the religion. And now you are demanding gay marriage? Thats like demanding to leave prison after you've been sentenced life-in-jail. It is STUPID.
As far as i know, you can get into a registered relationship (the same as marriage) WITH the fucking ceremony if you want to, and get the same "bonuses". Don't be stupid.
@LatumWay well, that isnt a church marriage. There is no priest. and to my understanding, thats exactly what gay people want. and as i said "non-religious marriage" = registered relationship. Do you even read what i say?
However if there IS a priest in the "non-religious marriage", its against the rules of the church anyway so the system kinda fails in whatever country this is happening in. Oh and just to be clear im not a religious person, so im not anti-gay here or any of that. just saying.
@StandardNeekeri A 'non-religious marriage' is not the same as some form of registered relationship i.e civil union, domestic partnership etc.
For instance, in the UK, not only can gay people not get married, straight couples cannot enter into civil unions. And that's even in a country where the rights of both types of unions are equal. Often they aren't. The two are not the same.
@LatumWay Then shit is very fucked up there, and i didn't know about this. But my point was that, gay people asking for a real Church wedding, is fucking stupid. Actually DEMANDING it from the goverment, when it is a CHURCH matter and they are breaking the laws of the religion. That, is stupid. I perhaps should have explained more clearly earlier, but the character limit doesn't allow to type that much. I hope you see what i mean here.
@StandardNeekeri If some gay people are demanding that the government force religious institutions to marry them against their wishes, then they are wrong and I do not agree with them. But I currently know of no gay people who advocate that. At the very least, they are an extremely small minority of gay people.
If the religious group has no problem with marrying gay people, (Quakers, Reform Jews etc) that's a whole different matter.
@StandardNeekeri No one is trying to force religious institutions to marry gay people. But like I said in the video, marriage (at least in the UK and USA) is not inherently religious - it is a legal union in the law. All types of people; Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and non-religious use that legal union and add whatever religious elements (or lack thereof) to it of their own accord.
Marriage is not inherently religious, and currently, it discriminates against gay people. Bottom line.
no one religion owns marriage. its not like if you are not a christian you cannot get married, why cant it be the same for homosexuals. there are religions that dont have a problem with homosexuality. on a side note- what if a homosexual person dies are they not allowed a funeral or ceremony because it is religous and usually takes part in a church?
if gays recieve the same rights as straights in a 'registered relationship' why not just call it marriage?
Really, it's videos like this that make me glad I subscribed to you (as opposed to the videos where you ramble on about your god awful musical taste).
@nosensetoitatall Au contraire - it is my 'god awful' music taste that is every bit as much of a part of me as my opposition to bigots. The two are not opposed.
@LatumWay No. You don't get to play these word games with me, white devil
They're not even related beyond your habit of making videos about both, and in terms of your oeuvre they are two distinct categories. The point still stands despite your attempt to twist a figure of speech.
If you dig deep enough, you'll discover that this is the core of Gallagher's logic: "I was knocked up in college and wish I'd been married and therefore people whom I can't relate to don't deserve to be married."
"Repeat step three as often as necessary"....... That sounds like keep on repeating "Leviticus 18:22 as often as necessary"....... It doesn't make any sense at all. Just repeating something over and over again doesn't make it true. Oh my gosh *facepalm*...... Kick that bitch, please do it! What a stupid argument that is, if you want to call it an argument at all.
The "Eat my sh*t" caught me off guard and every moment after that I found it was too easy to laugh. This is just awesome. Well presented. Well spoken. I love you. You have a new American fan. =-3
The audio and video in the segments where the camera were on you seemed to be very slightly desynced. Dunno if that's just on my end or not, mind you.
I have used pretty much every argument on why gay marriage should be legal with my family, and they still don't get it, and instead, accuse me of being a homosexual. Some people are insane, and no amount of reason or logic will reach them. They're just born bigoted.
With every new video, I think I love you more, LatumWay. I cannot tell you how great it is to be reminded that there are straight people that are just as passionate about gay rights as I am. Thank you for brightening my mood today
"The main reason people get married is (A) because of social convention and (B) because of the rights".
Social convention isn't an argument for either side, since either side can claim that social convention means either only heterosexual couples, or any type of couple you can mix. I think you recognize this.
The "rights", I really dont see the argument for either side. There is no "right" to marry, the only thing I can think of is things like tax writeoffs, but that is far from a "right".
@insidetrip101 There are actually a huge amount of rights that are only available to married couples. They're things you take for granted, like being eligible for insurance benefits from your spouse's job, being able to visit/stay with your partner if they're in the hospital, being able to make medical decisions for them if they are incapacitated and widows' benefits. This is just a short list of the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Research before making statements like that.
@insidetrip101 Actually, they are things that are guaranteed under law, making them rights in the legal sense, but not perhaps in the normative sense.
...the real point is if they were really campaigning for the sanctity of marriage they would also be campaigning against "irreconcilable differences" as a reason for divorce, it just makes it to easy an excuse for a divorce for their wonderfullly sanctioned marriage...it proves they are on a hate campaign....
@LatumWay ....rats....I stand corrected....most of them don't, I would guess?....I come from the state where Rick Santorum was Senator, we had to put up with his blathering for years....it is just weird, he is a total mutant for a north east Republican he is so far Right, he acs like, from Texas or something....
Shouldn't this be linked as a video response? I mean you provide the link in your description and that's great, but with video responses you can get the attention of people who've just watched that other video and give them a second point of view.
Jacob, have I told you lately that I love you? I am posting this video to facebook and twitter. This needs to be seen by as many people as possible. Thank you for being awesome, man.
A bigot telling fellow bigots how to further offend/irritate/insult and annoy the shit out of people who point out their bigotry. It's the bigot's handbook!
"only a man and a woman can make babies, so marriage is only between a man and a woman" What about straight people who are sterile? Should they not be allowed to get married because they can't make babies? What about all those people who make babies and live together but never get married? I suppose she'd say the couple who can't have kids could still adopt, and would be better parents than two men or two women. But she can't prove they would be better parents; no studies agree with her.
lol This video reminds me that my dear sweet Southern Baptist mother thinks homosexuality is like a virus. Every now and then when I talk to her, she says "oh did you know ____ is gay? It's like an epidemic!" Yup, the most fabulous epidemic there ever was.
I feel that I owe this bitch a big fucking thank you... so, thank you bitch - for making my thanksgiving miserable. As the only gay person in a family of Southern Baptists, I arrive at family holidays hoping to make it through the day without having someone question my beliefs, my lifestyle, or whose genitalia I choose to put in my mouth. People like this open the door to making one of the few days of the year that I get to see my family, a day I try to avoid. What a cunt.
The only opinion that I'd share with Maggie Gallagher would be to instead have a nice green salad with a low-fat vinaigrette dressing for Thanksgiving dinner. Her heart will thank her for it.
What the hell is up with these Christians and their "I was talking to" lies? Is this some kind of Christian trope? Can't they just come out and say "I want to talk about issue X"? Do they think it adds any authenticity to their bullshit? How the hell am I supposed to even consider the validity of their point when they start their little speech with a lie?
I thought her video was rather nice. It reinforces the fact that Christians are more or less a docile group, despite their "bigotry and intolerance." She and others of her group are free to define marriage as they see fit and consort with those who agree, and the only two reasons for "homophobes" becoming an issue are a) people wanting a moral high-ground to look down from and b) the failed construct of democracy. No state, no voting on "human rights," no problems.
I see you are making a gay rights video?? lol, if you don't remember me I'm the one who asked for more of these :] and sure like you said, you may be repeating yourself to us, but by having more videos like this out there will get people to stubble upon the subject more often and will give an opposition to anti-gay rights arguments. ALSO what video editing program do you use?
One of your best videos Jacob! I love the way you nail this bigot with her line about be tolerant of her postions while she herself is so fucking intolerant of anyone elses' postions. Marvelous.
@ALGfunk That's not even how you spell "fuck," man! In ANY language!
Uh, when you say "Fuk gays..." and once again, you mispelled "FUCK".... Here, count the letters: "F-U-C-K." When you say "Fuck gays..." do you mean that LITERALLY?
To Messer Latum Way... I applaud you for tackling the "gay issue" head-first (and no, let's side-step the easy joke here) , why specifically raise this issue on Thanksgiving? But I guess as a Brit, this is what you can toss into the pot.
why do I care about this video... where does this benefit my life, But anyways she's an idiot.. She looks sexually deprived, that haircut is hardcore lmao just looks bad because she's fat
Thanks for the link. I just checked out the video on the principlesinaction channel. It has 900+ dislikes and 8 likes. She's a bad person and she probably knows it.
The reason why Maggie Gallagher is ranting is obviously because 1. nobody want to stuff her turkey and 2. since she love to talk about pie all the time nobody want to eat her poontang pie.
To marknowakowski, YOU are wrong. Two men do make a marriage. And so can two women. This is fact because there are married same-sex couples living in America and in other countries as well. I don't believe in YOUR interpretation of the Bible. Gay marriage is already a reality...it's just not everywhere yet. But one day, it will be everywhere, so grow up and get used to it. Being intolerant isn't just discrimination, it's juvenile.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Latumway - so your basic argument is that since "society has changed (devalued, mutilated, etc) view of marriage, we must all accept this viewpoint." I appreciate your sincerity, but it is absolutely possible to be sincerely wrong - about everything. You need to calm down your "indignant" reactions, study your philosophy, and realize that two men do not a marriage make. Relativism is not a coherent philosophical position.
@marknowakowski1 You sound like you just didn't watch my video. I know thats a shitty response, but you're just reiterating what Maggie Gallagher said in the original video. I explained quite clearly why "two men do not a marriage make" is not a valid argument.
oh so you dont want society to change, how stagnant. you probably support "traditional" marriage where women have no rights and its illegal for diffrent races to intermix, what you like that kind of social change but when it comes to gays thats where you draw the line, fickle.
what is marriage anyway? sex, love, having children? homosexuals have the love and sex thing down. and as for kids, there are plenty of children who have been abandoned by their straight "real" parents.
I don't really mind how many times you talk about it, I think it's an important issue and the more videos you make on it the more chance you have of changing the opinions of others in regards to this issue. Good job, Jacob!
I hope that fat ugly bitch and everyone she loves get cancer up their arseholes so bad they shit through their fat ugly cunts and bleed to death in a gutter of periods.
Gee, Maggie is detested overseas, too. Great! Honestly, this woman has done more to advance the rights of gays and lesbians than any other single person in the United States. I suspect more people have become supportive of identical legal rights for gays and lesbians directly because of this woman's ridiculous and very public rants.
"Although I am horrified that my Auntie Gertrude is a horrible bigot spewing hatred and her belief that gay people should be denied a chance to have the same legal benefits as straight people, now that the PIE is here...aw, heck, we can let this go, right?"
I love lively Thanksgiving discussions. The first time we went to Thanksgiving at my brother-in-law's mother-in-law's place, we had a lively discussion, it was great. The next time, she was convalescing, and everyone treated her like glass, and the conversations were muted and boring.
you are so right, wtf is that bitch talking about!! gay marriage should not be hetrosexuals buisness!! :S personally i don't care, but i agree with you that its wrong to 'vote' for other peoples rights!! it's like letting english people vote for americas president!!
I'd rather not celebrate Thanksgiving at all than celebrate it with bigots like her. If she were sat at my table, spouting that crap, I'd kick her out, probably throw that pie after her. If it were at her house, I'd tell her where she can stuff that turkey and leave.
Moral of the story: don't eat so many cakes you can't get your fingers through the scissor holes and you have to go visit a disgruntled gay hair dresser.
Not only is the first point disingenious, but it's also demonstrably false. Because there's at least one other form of "union" that's much BETTER at "producing new life" than traditional marriage: Polygamy.
What disgusts me the most about Maggie Gallagher's video is that she's instructing her viewers on how to be "respectful" of others in a debate, but she still very smugly holds the 'I respect you, but I'm still right' position.
Granted, there are, of course, positions that I consider myself to be right about (evolution being a fact, for instance), but I don't go about arguing the assumed truth of my opinion with such a condescending, belittling tone.
the doublespeak that oozes from her trap is truly breathtaking. she says "its not discrimination", proving she really doesn't know what discrimination is.

Rationalific 3 months ago
The problem is that Marriage still is a legal term. The law shouldn't recognise marriage any more than it recognises monopoly money as legal tender.

RomeoCo 3 months ago
I thought her video was rather nice. It reinforces the fact that Christians are more or less a docile group, despite their "bigotry and intolerance." She and others of her group are free to define marriage as they see fit and consort with those who agree, and the only two reasons for "homophobes" becoming an issue are a) people wanting a moral high-ground to look down from and b) the failed construct of democracy. No state, no voting on "human rights," no problems.
KillCount666 3 months ago
if there's anything that could make someone gay—it's that maggie twat. she just riddles of insecurity. it's ad-hom, but just look at her.
it's just too comical. she HAS to be in on the joke. and what's with her hair flipping?
It's completely clear that the only thing that trumps her position on hate, is pie.

I think someone should make a video entitled 'How to handle Maggie Gallagher at Thanksgiving dinner':
Step 1: Should Maggie Gallagher show up for Thanksgiving dinner, immediately move all food to the refrigerator.
Step 2: Padlock the refrigerator
Step 3: Hide babies and small pets....
ashenst8 3 months ago 3
The reason why Maggie Gallagher is ranting is obviously because 1. nobody want to stuff her turkey and 2. since she love to talk about pie all the time nobody want to eat her poontang pie.

To marknowakowski, YOU are wrong. Two men do make a marriage. And so can two women. This is fact because there are married same-sex couples living in America and in other countries as well. I don't believe in YOUR interpretation of the Bible. Gay marriage is already a reality...it's just not everywhere yet. But one day, it will be everywhere, so grow up and get used to it. Being intolerant isn't just discrimination, it's juvenile.
jaysin1977 3 months ago 12

Latumway - so your basic argument is that since "society has changed (devalued, mutilated, etc) view of marriage, we must all accept this viewpoint." I appreciate your sincerity, but it is absolutely possible to be sincerely wrong - about everything. You need to calm down your "indignant" reactions, study your philosophy, and realize that two men do not a marriage make. Relativism is not a coherent philosophical position.
marknowakowski1 3 months ago
@marknowakowski1 You sound like you just didn't watch my video. I know thats a shitty response, but you're just reiterating what Maggie Gallagher said in the original video. I explained quite clearly why "two men do not a marriage make" is not a valid argument.
Dunno what else to tell you.
LatumWay 3 months ago 5
@marknowakowski1
oh so you dont want society to change, how stagnant. you probably support "traditional" marriage where women have no rights and its illegal for diffrent races to intermix, what you like that kind of social change but when it comes to gays thats where you draw the line, fickle.
what is marriage anyway? sex, love, having children? homosexuals have the love and sex thing down. and as for kids, there are plenty of children who have been abandoned by their straight "real" parents.

Gee, Maggie is detested overseas, too. Great! Honestly, this woman has done more to advance the rights of gays and lesbians than any other single person in the United States.
