AAWIL is the most terrifying, original class in the werewolf genre of Films. The Remake (An American Werewolf in Paris) is shit. I absoloutely hate it. The worst Film John Landis ever made.
An American Werewolf in London was a good movie. it actually made me jump on a few parts when i first saw it and any movie that can make me jump i like.
Lol, Edgar Wright had a similar experience to me when I first saw AWIL. I was about 8 and I got up to the Nazi dream sequence before I got sent to bed aswell.
Rick Baker said he'd like to do another transformation scene that combined CGI and hand made special effects.
On another note, this film scared me shitless the first time I saw it. That was several years ago and no film has terrified so me since. Shame. Desensitization sucks x

I first saw An American Werewolf in London when I was 5 years old at the drive-in with my family. David Naughton was awesome in this moive and in Hot Dog The Movie!
I'd love to be able to view an old classic horror like this movie as a kid again. He's spot on about the nightmares and hearing the movie and so on. I remember sneeking down stairs and pearing though the TV room door and watching LIFEFORCE or what Icould see of it over my brothers shoulder without making noise or going into the room and then getting caught and again sent to bed. Made it a must see situation. Classic. Thanks for the post. Brough back an old feeling there.
It was obviously an accident. He mentions later in part 2 that it's a dream, so please, take a deep breath, relax, and turn off your caps lock. And if it's gonna get remade by Edgar, just be glad that it's him doing it and not Rob Zombie.
@visceralgristle DAMN IMAGINE ROB MADE IT? FUCKING WOLF MIGHT BE 8 FEET TALL! LOL ROB KILLS ALL THE MOVIES HE MAKES. MICHEAL GREW LIKE 3 FEET IN HIS MOVIE MAKING HAHAH
@DarknessEnabled Without John Landis, this movie would also not have been written, or directed, therefore denying Rick Baker the job and an oscar. So it's kind of a co-dependent thing. The both have to be on their game if it's gonna be a classic. Pair up Rick Baker and a hack like Rob Zombie and a good movie is unlikely to be produced.
@visceralgristle i guess you are right, without landis the movie would have not been done, but i think the main virtue in the movie are the amazing fx. without them, i think the movie would have been a ruin.there are other good things in the movie, like bernstein music and locations, but i think that for example, comedy elements don´t fit he movie. i think it could have been the definitive werewolf movie if it was more dramatic.
it was my fav movie for years, but i think landis is a bad director.
this movie doesnt need a remake good films dont need remakes i remember the first time seeing this movie when they are in the moors seeing him him geting killed realy freeked me out i was about 7 when i saw it
@ISR110253 Exactly. I'm trying to think of ONE MOVIE that was bettered by a remake. I honestly can't think of a single one. Maybe I just need more time to think about it for awhile? Can anyone help me out? Can anyone think of a any remake that turned out better than the original?
Well said, amen Brother. There is NO WAY they can top the transformation scene. That transformation scene will always be the best werewolf transformation scene in history, and you KNOW THEY WILL RUIN THE MOVIE WITH THE CGI AND TWILIGHT GARBAGE.
@TheNightcrawler125 i totally agree,CGI would be insulting in the remake.i think even rick baker couldn´t do better than he did.he says that mixing both techniques would create a better transformation, but i dont think so.the work of rick baker in "the wolf man" has won the oscar, but i think is pathetic compared to his work in american werewolf.is that the best transformation they can do with new techniques?(in an interview he said he wanted to put some traditional effects there, but he couldnt).
@TheNightcrawler125 they already have ruined any werewolf movie with the twilight garbage, if they make another werewolf movie it will get hated on a lot. especially if they make the werewolves scary again like they should be. everybody will want them to be like they were in twilight and if they are not people will hate it. twilight is very popular even though it doesnt deserve to be.

Ill be the first to say that for someone 37 years of age Edgar Wright looks pretty good. Still almost looks like hes in his twenties!

REMAKES....Grrrrrrrr.....lol
If ya gonna remake something, be clear & honest about why your
doin it....Is it your dream....something ya passionate about...
Or just JUMPIN ON THE LATEST HOLLYWOOD CASH COW BANDWAGON....
I've got nothing against remakes, but there are too many of em......
If ya gonna remake a film...remake one that's rubbish...
At least that way you'll stand half a chance of makin a good movie.....

Ed Wright is a fantastic director, American Werewolf is a fantastic film, but I'm also not convinced that a re-make is required :/
With him on the whole being sent to bed idea when you were a kid, if you don't see the end, the monsters are still alive in your head!! :D
