great song - not live tho....just curious why would you post info that's not accurate? do you believe what you're writing or just not care if it's right or not?
Great song. And, yes, it's from Big Brother's first album - but the re-released version by Columbia - not the original Mainstream release. And, no, it's not live - it's a studio recording. How I know is: I have have a vinyl copy of this album :)
ever heard a tune Janis did called "Ego Rock" ? she did it with Electric Flagg s Nick Gravenites its one of the really great songs she ever did. saw her in concert in Seattle opening were Steve Miller, Jesse Colin Young and Pacific Gas & Electric.
This was recorded in 1966 in the Mainstream Recording Studio by Big Brother and the Holding Company for their self-titled release - left off the original pressing but included in future CDs
I first saw Janis at the cinema on London road Derby about 67 or 68 -70 Montarray Pop was the film.Me and my brother Colin who passed away in 1977 watched the film. We were the only schoolboys in the audience. Her performance was one of the highlights , God bless you Janis and Colin.
Happy Birthday, Janis! You would be 66 today. We miss you... oh so much. Thank you for everything you did. You changed my life, as well as countless others. If you're a fan of Janis, just remember her especially on this day. Look up at the sky and thank her, light a candle in her memory, or anything else. Just make sure she knows she hasn't been, and never will be, forgotten. Love, Jade.
@Axe5397 nah this is a studio recording Big Brother did in 66 or 67. It was released in 67 on their first album. They did an album before Cheap Thrills. It wasnt a hit but its cute. Not live. But its great anyway. I had this somewhere..i gotta find it hehe! *hic*
I still have this original single! On the b-side it has "Coocoo"

Was this really live? Sounds like a studio recording....not that it changes how great Joplin and this song were, but just wondering.

It was listed on the album as being live.
Dunno probs not audience live but I think it just sounds very natural and sort of done in one take you know.
It is a great song I love it :)
