  • I like the tune of your drums. Can you tell me where i get such a drum from? Im searching in google but i dont have much luck :(

  • @Blackeneer These drums are with a couple of exceptions built by Cooperman. Google that for more info.

  • god bless texas

  • @skinfiddler what key is yall's fife in?

  • @TheJoejamison These are b-flat I'm fairly certain.

  • confederates usually equates to southern racists nowadays...

  • @larukulunaseas Only among the more feeble minded.

  • Great job Yanks! Deo Vindice!

  • Played almost as well as Co. E 2d Maryland Fifes & Drums plays it...

    See you boys at Cashtown...

  • Love the Drum Corps.

  • Well worth a Rebel Yell.. Thanks Yanks, job well done!!

  • There was probably more than one type of rebel yell

  • I understand no ever recorded a Rebel Yell

so no one Really knows what it sounded like

  • Hail from Dayton.

    GOD BLESS, DIXIE!

May She Rise Up! Out of The Ashes!

Y'all Play it Good! Have a Good One!

    DEO VINDICE!

  • The Camp Chase Fifes and Drums are the finest group of musicians, some of which I have the privilege of knowing, that exist today. They are also by far, the finest performers of civil war period fife and drum music that exist today.

  • grate songs boys ty keep up the good work ty again deo vindice

  • never thought i would see and hear a union band playing dixie. aint life strange, even for a scotsman.

  • and its a large civil war band, ussualy you only hade a fife and a snare drum leading you into battle

  • graidstin. i was lucky enough to be at the edinburgh military tattoo a few years ago and there was an american high school band performing (cant remember the name) but, to start the performance, the lights dimmed and a confederate military band marched into the arena playing instrumants and music of the period. what a sight, what a sound. also rutgers university had sent their arms drill team over, brilliant! throwing rifles about with 12 inch bayonets attached. some show.

  • oh yes I'm sure that an actual milititary flute and drum band of the time wouldve been quite a spectacle, but in an actual march you would only have a snare and a fife

  • graidstin.yes i agree, the event was a spectacle for the public with all the pomp associated with it. but as you say a fife and a drum were all that was needed for troops as they are about to go into battle. the scottish regiments would have a lone piper which did the same job. lord lovats commandos. on d-day, were led by a lone piper, who survived d-day and the rest of ww2 armed with a set of bagpipes and a service revolver, which i dont think he even fired in anger. aye! the power of music.

  • that's just not true

  • @graidstin To clarify: Camp Chase Fifes and Drums performs as a Regimental fife and drum corps, that is, a COMBINED group comprised of musicians from companies of a Regiment (typically two musicians assigned per Company).

  • @MrJimmyboy1972, was Lincolns favorite tune as a matter of fact :)

  • tpajason. no wonder

  • my corp plays yellow rose in texas but we also play in to another song which name exscapes me

  • Dixie is a great song, but being a Texan, I am partial to Yellow Rose of Texas.

  • wwe,Your the reason the South gets a bad name. You need to understand more and more Northern people support the South. Please remember most of us poeple in the North commenting, didnt fight in the war!

  • Yeah and 50% of the north hated Lincoln and did NOT approve of Lincoln's War. In fact Lincoln imprisoned 130,000 northerners because they did not support him. More reasons that the Union hated their own people and did not care for anyone's freedom.

  • friggin' Yankees playing our songs. Jesus......

  • NB: One of those tunes of "yours" was written by a fellow from Ohio. You DO know that Ohio is north of the MDL, no?

  • yea dont act like the south made up all of these songs cause dixie wuz made by a guy living in ohio. basically we all play each others tunes... course both sides have their own names for the same song but either way we all play the same stuff

  • Remember being southern is about more then where you are born.

  • Haha, right?

  • state guard!!

  • gr8 songs loved em all ty long line csa

  • Very good !!! :)

  • GET"R"DONE & HAVING FUN!

    Deo Vindice!

  • One of my ancestors was a prisoner at Camp Chase, Ohio in the war's closing days.

  • When these guys started in on Dixie I got chills. Great talent. Thanks

  • Let's stop making this political.

    Anyhow, great job!

These Yanks sure can play our tunes well!

  • yea yanks. always make good musicians

  • RIP CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA

  • That's bloody brilliant. Well done lads. Props to you.

  • God Bless the Confederacy and her fallen soldiers!

  • the union together. The war started because of an act of agression by the south. NOW WHY THE SOUTH WAS AGRESSIVE was because they were pissed that they had minimal representation in congress over their livelyhood aka SLAVERY.

  • maybe get your facts straight, they rebelled the same reason we rebelled against England, they were not being fairly represented, a president they didn't recognize as a candidate was elected, then when the north fortified a fort near one of their harbors they felt threatened and retaliated.

  • They didnt retaliate. They fired the first shot. Fortification in your own country is not an act of war. Shooting at a fort is an act of war.

  • Right. It couldnt be seen as a threat a threat the weapon supply was limited and it was taken just after Lincoln had advised them that he was going to send - not soldiers- a ship filled with supply of food (specifically saying -according to my professor- he wasn't going to supply weapons) before the ship arrived the south attacked the fort knowing of the ship.lincoln didn't even have to send a letter of notice but he decided to, to avoid problems. After this lincoln began calling for recruits

  • the title of the song is to arms in dixie

  • Heres the deal.

The Civil war STARTED because of the issue of Slavery. NOW. Did individual soldiers fight to free/keep slaves? No. They fought to defend their homeland or perserve their union, or they liked the bounty or idk. But there wouldnt even have been a problem with the division of the union if it wasnt for slavery.

  • Dude I dont know where you get your info man. Look at today's economy and the states in the Union like Vermont, New Hampshire, and pretty much all the Southern States as well looking to seceed from the Union if Obama takes office. Sounds like 1860 all over again. My question to you is what WHITE man at that time is going to fight for a BLACK man? I know my Union ancestors didn't...read it in their journals.

  • no no no. THE WAR STARTED because of slavery, the individual soldiers FOUGHT for other reasons. States Rights to do what? Own Slaves.

  • Oh yeah and slavery is still legal: 13th Amendment US Constitution:

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

  • actually the civil war was started over states rights and ended up being faught over slavery bc neither side had anymore accuses to keep fighting. go back to the 10th grade

  • ok. Ill believe you once you tell me states rights to do...WHAT?? What states rights were being violated? Oh yeah, the right to own slaves! Now. Im not some politically correct asshole, I just call things how they are. The South was pissed because the industrial North did not want to allow slavery and wanted to ban it in the US instead of leaving it to a state's vote. Those were the states rights.

  • 1stline is largely correct. This all started around 1840 with the Wilmot Proviso.

Then the Compromise of 1850, Bleeding Kansas, Dred Scott, the Fugitive Slave Act - everyone saw it coming. The South would not accept Lincoln as president because they thought he was a threat to slavery.

  • you speak as if the north was its own country. do you ofrget that all states had their say in anything said its just that northern states were smarter. and the states rights of certian taxes on exports wre being voilated not the right to own slaves.

  • The south didnt have as many individuals in the house of representatives due to the population difference.

  • You are correct, sir.

  • Also, dont cite Gods and Generals. that movie was so aweful...wow. It was just a disgrace.

  • what was being cited from gods and generals. that movie actually was one of the most accurate moives about the civil war ive seen.

  • Then you probably dont know much about the civil war. Not only were the battle scenes bad, but the dialogue was politically correct bullshit and they did an aweful job portraying Robert Edward Lee. Jeff Sharaa is a terrible author. Nothing like his dad.

  • yea the portrayed Stonewall jackson as a pussy that cryed all the time...Stonewall Jackson was a solder, he was a badass, that was probably the worst movie ive ever seen

  • He did cry when Jane Corbin died.

  • Now to end this slavery bit. I am a Living Historian of the Civil War (re-enactor). The War did NOT start over the issue of slavery. It started because Lincoln wanted to stop the rebelion of the South, but had to go through Virginia and Virginia wound not allow it. PLEASE watch "Gods and Generals." All will come clear when Jackson is addressing the Virginia Vols.

  • Being a reenactor isnt exactly a big deal. I am one too and I got tired of it because its playing dress up no matter how authentic you get.

Why did the south rebel? Because they had slaves, the laws were being passed unjustly via tightening the purse of the south with taxes on items produced on slaves, the 3/5ths compromise, laws on free and slave states, and the south just did not have the representation they wanted. The war started when the south rebelled. Lincoln started the war to keep

  • hahah the ANV. . . "Authenticity Not Valued"

  • lol...never heard it put that way...but we are the 7th ANV. I realize other ANV'ers have shitty portrayals but we do pretty well considering our Colonel (Perry) likes to drill us for an hour and a half not including the time we already drill at company level which is usually a half hour and company drill every month. BTW can you stack arms in 9.5 seconds? Just wondering. Last time I checked...oh two weeks ago...we did. Oh, yeah we do Gilhams...yeah we dont take the cheap way out....

  • Want a Cookie?

  • nah...just a jar to put it in. LOL. I meant no harm. I just wanted to point out that our commanders are really freakin nuts.

  • you guys always do a great job! it is always a pleasure to be entertained by you! BTW tfor y'all out there these guys are from OHIO not Texas. ----Reb from the 7th ANV

  • reb here from the 1st from arkansas aot

  • wonderful thanks for all (a Yank)!!!!!

  • bloddy hell and this guys the sould be a shame yannky uniforms and from texas

or did i get it wrong?

  • wow im a southerner but those yanks are good!!!!!!!!

  • excellent !

  • In 1940 the United States got their first black general, General Benjamin Oliver Davis, Sr.

  • Are you guys for real?!?

The agricultural South was hopelessely underdeveloped economically compared to the north that had a lot of industry.

And as to Black generals on the confederate side, that is complete nonsense. I should think it took at least another 100 years of US history before a Black general was appointed.

  • But we were ahead of the north in the Military.

  • For the record, I am a northerner -born in New York State and now living in Pennsylvania - And I am NOT still fighting the War Between The States - an event that took place near 150 years ago! I admire those brave lads who fought on either side because they believed in their respective cause. The typical "Johnny Reb" was NOT a slave owner. What is past is past, can't we all unite as proud Americans?

  • yes i think we should but i will always love the south i even fight for her in the 3rd tn reanactors div.

  • As an ignorant Limey, can I ask "southwillriseagain21" what prompted the Southern states to sesseed (sp?) if not the threat of abolition of slavery due to the election of Lincoln?

  • States Rights

  • Rights to what? All I hear is the general, vague term "their rights", but weren't the rights of Alabamans and Mississippians as clear as those of Rhode Islanders or New Yorkers?

  • Look, I got a question for you. Why would so many southerners that didn't own slaves fight a war that was over something they didn't have? There were plenty of free blacks in the south. Also white men weren't the only ones to own slaves. They're were black slave owners. They're were black confederate soldiers also. Which brings up my next question. Why would black men fight for something that was for slavery of themselves?

  • blacks didn't fight in the war, they were just there or be whipped. there were no free blacks in the south.they could not vote or move about freely, why are you about excuses. there is nothing wrong with you wanting to be proud of your heritage, you got a lot of bad with the good thats all. peace out

  • I'm not as smart as you thought I was? You're the one saying there were no blacks in the confederacy. you should really do your homework. There were plenty of blacks in the confederacy and they're were tons of free blacks in the south. And theyre were black slave owners. Now once again I ask you. If the rebel flag was such a bad thing. Then why would blacks now in this day in age own that "symbol of racism"? Do your homework junior and get back to me. Look it up, there were black confederates.

  • you skipped all over the fact that one of the states rights was to keep slaves. lesson: read, respond to topic, then make comment. your not to bright either

  • yes you could keep slave and purchase slaves from other slave owners but the confederate constitution outlawed the importation of slaves, the north continued slavery after the war ended, and during the war still imported slaves into harbors of maryland, brought in on american ships under the american flag and sold under the confederate flag

  • actually ingnorant ass, theres proof and records of free blacks dieing for the south and get comended for it. even at a big battle of franklin there were black confederates. indians for for the south and acouple were generals. even in the confederate constitution they outlawed international slave trade from the start. your fucking done son!!!

  • finnaly someone that knows something about history

  • damn straight, dont you love people that think they know what there talkin about?

  • lol seriously

  • the confederate constitution?? your done son

  • 90% of the confederate forces were fighting because there homes were being overrun and taken over by union forces

  • states rights also includes keeping slaves, i can't believe you didn't figure that out. your not as smart as i thought.

  • the south seceded because of taxation w.o representation, when lincoln became pres. the south made up 30% of the lands population yet paid 80% of the taxes, lincoln once stated during the war w/ the south seceding we need to bring them back for who else would pay for this countrys governmentm.

  • Do you have any sources for this?

  • yep, its called a history book. but seriously you can look it up on google, reasons for southern secession

  • OK smarty. No hard feelings, but that was a rather obvious answer.

  • finnaly someone that knows somethin about history

  • Great playing of the captured war trophies!

All of these tunes (lyrics varied) were conquered by the USA, as President Lincoln said. Moreover, the South was never, and never will be, Confederate. All dead unrepentant Turncoat Trash Rebel Rogues (whether at Camp Chase or any other venue) are now screaming for all eternity in the punitive fires of hell -- including my Cousin "Stonewall" Jackson.

The South in the Union Forever! Deo Vindice!

God damn the Confederacy -- God bless the USA!

  • What a hateful and unkind opinion. Lincoln himself would disavow it.

  • Abraham Lincoln wasn't as good as a man as most everyone thinks he was.

  • Abe Lincoln was a better man than you will ever be, PHONY Confederate LOSER.

  • If hes a better man than me...hes definately got you beat. Jackass

  • buddmar, It was Lincoln's opinion, you hateful unkind idiot.

  • the reason that the Union was upset at the south was that the north was over taxing the south sooooo when the south left the union the north challlenged them at gunpoint. The south always had power over the north because they were more, how you say richer.

Even if you reply to me cursing at me that this isnt the truth(which it is the truth)

I will always remember when before 1861 when the south was one of the most successful country in the world. Thank You for your time

  • those are yankees singing death to the union

  • Southern Patriots fought and gained Independence for each of the original 13 American Nations (States).

Later the sons and grandsons of those very Southern Patriots were obliged to fight against a Federal Beast which had trampled the rights of men and become a tyrant.

"Honest" Abe sent in the Federal Army to punish the South, and to enslave every man woman and child in the South.

Today we are still fighting for our Freedom form that Federal Beast.

  • Absolutely, brother. Deo Vindice

  • You must've been raised in Russia by Confederate descendants. You've got everything all wrong and twisted. Learn some history, would you?

  • while you guys were trampling the rights of slaves. what a double standard

  • do you realize only about 5% of the south had slaves. The rest couldn't afford it. And guess who was fightin for the south. Men that didn't own slaves.

  • well i guess if it's only 5% THAT MAKES IT OK!!!! I'm too inteligent for you, even i know that 5% is to much. go fly your flag and drink your be and play dress-up solier

  • you dont quite understand what I was gettin at do you. The civil war wasnt over slavery. If it was that five percent would have fought. You can read all the legitamite diarys from the civil war. None of them say anything about fighting for slavery. and "honest" abe. oh and by the way, just for the books i dont drink.

  • i guess you play dress up soldier. you have a blind eye towards slavery. it never happened. its always one excuse after another with you racist.(if you have the flag that's what you are)

  • you yanks are racist scum there are neo black confederates you damn yankees lied about our history is was not over slavery southern state rights were violated you yanks are ingnorant fucks

  • No I don't have a blind eye towards slavery. I know it was happening. That doesn't mean that every white man in the south owned a slave though. That also doesn't mean that every man that did own a slave treated his slaves like shit. Then by saying if you own a rebel flag your racist. You dont think blacks own rebel flags? You dont think mexicans own rebel flags? You think the civil war was just a white mans war or something? whos discriminating now?

  • the rebel flag "the THE OFFICIAL FLAG OF THE KU KLUX KLAN". blacks could'nt own anything not even their kids. do you have kids, well we gonna sell your babies, i mean massa's babies. you lazy son of a bitches messed up a whole entire race. hitler was second worst you guys are first congradulations for what your heritage accomplished, your forefathers

  • Then once again I tell you not every single man in the south owned a slave. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

  • The rebel flag is the flag of the KKK huh? So I guess the American flag is a official flag of the KKK to huh? A crucifix is now a sign of the KKK to huh? Everything I just said has been used to project hatred towards blacks FROM THE KKK. Just because people use objects to symbolize one thing doesnt mean it means the same thing to everyone else. So stop sayin everyone that owns the flag is racist cuz its the same thing as sayin everyone that wears a crucifix and flys a American flag is racist to.

  • WOW!! So wrong its oomical! 25% of Southerners owned slaves, not 5%! And slave owners did fight during the Civil War. I'll agree, not the rich ones though, because it was most certainly a poor man's fight. To say 5% of the South owned nearly a million people is ridiculious. I do respect the South but come on...how do you expect to get respect when you argue like that!!

  • what rights.....slaves didnt have rights, how could we trample their rights if they didnt have any to begin with

  • yehaa!

  • Very well done, y'all. I thoroughly enjoyed it all.

    Deo Vindice!

  • Comments much appreciated sir. I like to think we do those tunes justice as I have a Great Grandfather who was a Corporal in the 2nd SC Cavalry, Company G. I hope he's listenin and can forgive my colors!

  • lol... indeed. That second part's asking a lot though! lol

  • especially liked stonewall jackson's way

  • i got a tape with this song on it. its amazing.

  • Yup - that is excellent.

  • Yeehah! I need to practice...

  • Awesome!

  • 5 stars
