  • 3:37 kinda looks like freddie mercury from queen at the end of his days, nonetheless beauty of a song!

  • Everything about this is beautiful.

  • This music is just SOO beautiful, and so too is the video.

A people who are not afraid to allow the music to embrace their True-Self.

    Wonderful !

  • Incredible - saw them in PDX years ago, but they were not this good - the smoke alarm kept going off! This is so intimate.

  • I love the man at 4:42. It's like the music has spirited him away.

  • Ist das nicht schön !? Ganz wunderbar...

"In Dir muss brennen, was Du in anderen entzünden willst." (Augustinus)

  • @MrShazDude You know nothing about either beauty, or music, or hope, or enything.

  • The little girl at 4:00 with the glasses... she gets it

  • 4:37 Alex <3

    This is pure harmonia...

  • música de otro planeta, simplemente magístral.. qué gran banda es Sigur Rós.. i love it.

  • 10 people have no heart and no ears.

  • The little girl at 4:26 is just heart-melting.

  • I wish I knew the Iceland language

  • @lilianne2881 that's not even icelandic.

  • when I'm listening to this song, i did not feel that 8:29 minutes has passed. Its just so beautiful.

  • Is that the guy from Jakobinarina at 2:25 ?

  • as deep as I can see... your open heart Jonsi, is one of biggest challenges I have been ever confronted... thanks

  • I remember this song. The only boring one from the film! It sounds like most of the songs from the () album where he keeps repeating U Si Lo Fon over and over again. What's the story behind that?

  • @Sandyhendry simply put: we say that music is the universal language but that's bullshit because the lyrics are in a language, so what sigur ros did was to create music with lyrics that is universal. is it a great story or what?

  • @Sandyhendry It's not from ( ) at all, it's the title track from their first album, "Von". Von means hope, and the phonetic "language" that it's sung in is named after this track, "Vonlenska" or "Hopelandic" in English. All of ( ) is in Vonlenska as is Olsen Olsen from Agætis Byrjun, and parts of Takk. I think most of the "Endalaust" album is Icelandic, though.

  • This is terribly moving

  • Sigur Ros gave me hope for everything. Thank you.

  • I could not have made up a better title for this song. No one could.

  • The little girl's face at 4:06 says it all. Incredibly mesmerizing, and unquestionably beautiful.

  • i dont know about yu guys but whenever i listen to this song and think in all the stuff thats going on in the world i really want to cry

  • the cellist in this video is beautiful.

and then, of course, the music is incredible. I've never heard anything with quite the same haunting quality of Sigur ros. they're amazing.

  • there is just nothing else like these people.

  • 9 people missed replay button.

  • oh my freaking god this is gorgeous.

  • It sounds like the song at the end of the film INTO THE WILD

  • True artists communicate; there is no language-barrier in true art!

  • @scgauntt66 there is my friend! its called interpretation!

but i see what you mean! :)

  • 4:08 such a beatiful lady.....

  • @deftson this will be the first time that i wont jump to the 4:08 mark to see whatever it is that is there, ill just enjoy the whole song.

  • <3 ...

  • A breath taking song + video ! Thank you for sharing lawiwishu !

  • "no words can do justice". a paradox because i think your words do.

  • No words can do justice.

  • merci ;-))

  • first saw this as a music video on Alaska Airlines didgy. i recall it as black & white with family reunion. what a trip...so went and got the DVD --double--and shortly after somone ripped it off from my work and so here we go again...love Von & Nephyte 9

  • These men make the music of Angels. Love every one of them !

  • 2biguns wow, just amazing comment, i couldn't even describe in words what feelings this song brings to my soul, and your comment ant attitude to sigur ros just perfectly fits mine :) cheers!

  • great music!

  • Sadness (Tristeza)... At the dummer T-shirt....

  • this is the song we have chosen as the intro to our wedding. sets the stage so beautifully for something so meaningful. we are getting married on a large dock overlooking Lake Muskoka (Ontario), so the music will be playing across the water as we make our way to the end of the dock & during our walk down the aisle. so moving!

  • makes you believe in humanity. fucking amazing

  • Szép dal...

  • Sigur Ros has been a band that has helped me through hard times. As I'm going through now. The music they create gives you an undescribable feeling. His voice is so genuine. And the music is breath taking. It shows the joy and happiness in life. No one will ever compare to Sigur Ros. I'm so thankful I found this band 4 years ago. I hope they stay around forever.

  • Vonlenska, people.

a (non-)language that expresses something beyond "regular" feelings.

  • Home is where hearth is. I want to be home. Thank you sweet Jack.

  • Their Music goes beyond words...

  • Sigur Ros helps me through the days that I know are the hardest. The days that we all feel -- when we don't know why we should get out of bed. There is music that we analyze and can ultimately understand, but when it seems like a song understands you, that's special. I can't describe it, but I feel like despite the fact that I can't tell what Jonsi is saying, he knows exactly what's going on in my head. Knowing that somebody understands makes everything better.

  • @lmbkid

And reading your post helps me by knowing that I am not the only one who feels that way about Sigur Ros..

For the last ten years they have comforted, delighted & consoled me through some difficult & dark days..Seems a shame they have switched to singing in English (As has Jonsi on his solo releases)

Regardless they remain the music I would want to hear when I depart this mortal coil..

  • @lmbkid This is the beauty of music. When it is true...it is so much more than notes or words or visuals. It is the soul and it puts an arm around you and whispers in your ear that you are not alone.

  • world is too cruel without sigurros <3

  • Their music is so beautiful that I find it hard to believe that they are just people. It's beyond discription. The day I discovered their music it changed my life.

  • @Staralfur4444

    mine too. they´re the greatest

  • I wish I could marry Jonsi, just for his music, an absolute idol to look up to.

  • Angels music. Art pure where everyone feel what they want to feel at an specific moment. I love this Magical band.

  • one of my favorite song

  • The music of Sigur Ros absolutely blows me away. I'm sad that I did not find them sooner than 2008!

  • and me sooner than 2009 :(

  • @DefendingMormonism

totally understand you! they´re the best and i also find them 2008....

  • reminds me of my mom, everythime

  • How do you decribe the amazing feelings you get listening to sigur ros?

  • I wish I could have been there.

  • me too my friend, me too...

  • the first time i heard this song i was driving my car and although i did not understand a single word of the song it just went straight to my soul i started feeling all kind of emotions...i just cried

  • No words to describe. No hope for me...

  • oh man.. i juste cried....

  • Painfully beautiful

  • great song. thanks for the upload.

  • i love how even the smaller kids are enthralled by the song.

  • I felt this song in my chest. It LITERALLY radiated through me. Sigur Ros is so Inspirational. Its the music I want to Share with the world yet keep to myself. This is the music I give to those special people, the ones that have a place in my heart. This song, this music, this band, warm my heart with each note, as do the people I give it to.

  • The little girls faces at 4:00 always get me.

  • i never get tired of this song - i dont believe in god, but i dont need to: i believe in music

  • @emiliob78

That's what I live by, too. Music is my religion. Sigur Ros are one of my many messiahs.

    haha

  • And musicians listen to God

  • @emiliob78 If you couldn't hear music, would you still believe in it?

  • @emiliob78

    omg u r so deep...

  • Life-affirming music

  • Their music is the most beautiful thing i've ever heard in my life.

  • the most beautiful thing i have ever seen.

  • The opening chords make me want to do nothing but sink to the ground in despair...

And then the beat starts up, and I think to myself: What is sorrow with a tempo? Despair, with a purpose?

    Hope. (Von)

  • This does more with me than i can comprehend

  • if you dont come to norway soon, i am going to be broke - cuz i am going to your concert either way.. if its in kuala lumpur or whatnot! come on!!!!!

  • this song is so touching that people don't know what to do when this song takes them to the heaven,

  • hope

  • I've been listening to their music for a long time now, and very little else in the music world seems to matter to me.

One of my favourite songs, this one somehow lets me feel joy and sorrow together. Painfully beautiful.

  • Totally agree. I do not understand the Words, but i Feel it. It's said thrue music. ♥

  • @2biguns

the lyrics are bretty much as they sound.. when its sad it sounds like it.

I am from iceland but really i dont care how it is put to words. mother nature, love, life and sorrow is pretty much what the text is about.

  • @2biguns

    Melancholy :]

  • @2biguns A friend of my told me Von means hope. He said the music shows the two sides of hope the happiness that it can bring and the disappointment.

    Painfull beauty.

  • @2biguns

feeling Joy and Sorrow simultaneously is the perfect way to describe the emotional response to the music of sigur ros. Von can make me cry, whilst wearing a huge smile on my face!

When you strip back all the veneer of our modern lives we are still essentially spiritual beings. Music has been a key to unlocking our souls throughout human history, Sigur ros is just about the most beautiful key I posess.

  • @2biguns I feel the same way. I listen to Sigur Ros about 90% of the time. I think I will be listening to Sigur Ros for the rest of my life just as much as I do now.

  • This one's my favorite :) Love this band, they oh soooo good!

  • sigur ros music is so beautifull

  • magic

  • DOWN WITH THE CYLONS

    <3 This guy

  • gives me chills everytime i hear this song, such a great singer ^^

best band there is out there ;)

  • This song and video conveys such deep feelings of family, community, togetherness, trust, peace, love. Just absolute beautiful perfection. Yet somehow sad because in my part of the world, so much of this is just ... missing. Such as it is and can be when so many live in the misleading comfort of fear.

  • Living orgasm at a highest scale

  • ...heaven's door ...

  • This is as close to God as I'll ever get.

  • Von (Hope) is a song I can feel in the core of my being :)...

  • I love this song so much... It reminds me of someone That I wish he just knew how I feel about him ... I hope he's happy..

Can someone translate for me this song? And what "Von" meens?

  • There are no lyrics, per se; it's written in "Vonlenska," which is a language with no grammar or anything. It's basically just sounds.

    "Von" means "hope."

  • I just know that "von" means "hope"

  • All Sigur Rós' Lyrics.

  • This song is sung in something the band calls "Hopelandic", which is not really a language, but just the kind of vocals a songwriter puts on his song when he's sure about the melody but not the words. I hope that made sense :)

I love this song deeply, and it still puts a lump in my throat every time i hear it.

  • VON is Icelandic for "HOPE"

  • I love this entire video, but one of the best parts is at 6:44

  • I really love this song, it touches my heart.

  • The best band of our time... I was tied between them and radiohead for a long time but they have been my all time favorite for a couple years now. Can't see any other band surpasing them. I saw them in Oakland and they made me cry, they sound just like this in concert.

  • the percussion on this could make you weep

Great song, meisterstuck xDD

  • chyba odwrotnie, to ty wchodzisz tam gdzie ja xP

  • I can listen to this song over and over and over, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • tak tak tak ;]

  • This song highlights what mood you're in. I respect that.. No matter what - It always appeals.

  • It's such a beautiful song, i love the way it makes you think and remember all the other beautiful things in your life that you appreciate ^_^

  • This song convinced me that I had to change my life, so I did something I normally wouldn't have done. I'm glad I did because now I feel a lot happier and enjoy life again!

  • I love this. Everyone in the beginning is chit-chatting, getting coffee, getting food. Then when when Jonsi hits the first falsetto they all stop and watch in amazement. So touching.

  • this is probably the most inspiring band I have came across

  • Just Beatuful

  • awesome, lifts me up when i'm feeling bad

  • It does for me as well. Bearing hope. I guess that's the meaning of the song. : )

  • Von = hope in icelandic. and the song really delivers the its title! =)

  • i love the facial expressions -- young & old -- everyone feels it.

  • how to describe Sigur ros ?...hmmmm...infact cant describe it......simply brilliant...pure music...

  • that was the schnitzel!

Sigur Ros forever!!!

  • I read up, and apparentally this performance was a private one strictly for family and friends. So the people watching know them - and they are still look absolutely gobsmacked by the beauty of the music - amazing!

  • Nope, it was for the whole community living in a small village somewhere in Iceland, one of those forgotten by god.

  • Life is hard

    Then there's Sigur Ros

  • Orri is so cute in this video^^ he's a great drummer!

  • excelente ! !

  • i love this band

  • amazing..

  • The song is super.

  • What I like about the lyrics, is the fact that nobody understands it- it's universal; we are all in the "same place". . . . . Nobody even needs to understand it, just make the lyrics into a translation that you can relate to. Absolutely beautiful!

  • Who cares what they're really saying? This is the best example I've ever seen of a band who can "really" communicate through music and harmony alone. They don't need words. You don't need to know what they say to fully understand how they feel. This is art in its most pure and simple form, and Sigur Ros has mastered storytelling without saying a (recognizable) word. I love them because they make me stop and think about everything...

  • life chaning event that would be to share a roof with them

  • Pure and mysterious poetry.

  • There is no worlds to discribe how I feel listening to Sigur's songs...... simple beauty. ;)

  • Staggeringly beautiful.

  • this music makes me sad... it's somehow a cry from deep inside!

  • Gli angeli piangono quando ascoltano.

  • When asked to describe this song, I simply cannot. It is just music at its most amazing and emotional. Sigur Ros exist on a plane all by themselves.

  • totally agree..nothing can touch them

  • great song

    has anyone got the lyrics

  • uh...

  • It's in Vonlenska or Hopelandic, the gibberish language they made for some of their songs. This song actually dubbed it Vonlenska, so there are technically no real lyrics...

  • meraviglioso. cos'altro dire?

Tutti in religioso, quasi mistico silenzio.Tutti commossi ed allo stesso tempo estasiati.Eccezionale!

  • Io mi trasferisco in Islanda!
