@i83420pufs This has nothing to do with High Times. Weed stars? Peter Tosh was a talented musician who sang about freedom and legalization - not about being a lazy stoner like your "weed stars."
@ilikegrinding The government will not sell cannabis. The government does not make or sell alcohol or tobacco - they tax it. You cannot have legalization without taxation. Marijuana will be legalized and you will be able to grow it in your backyard without paying taxes but if you buy it in the store, you will pay taxes on it. Just like with beer, you'll have the option of buying high quality micro brew or low quality budweiser. Legalize and Tax It.
If you don't know him that's your fault, Peter Tosh is legendary as one of the greatest reggae musicians of all time and as one of the most dedicated pro legalization activists. He's not my generation either, I'm 19 years old but I have much more respect for many of the old artists than for anyone in the billboard top 100.
And who are these "real weed stars of today" anyway?
Schools instead of prisons sure makes a lot of sense. Nearly 70% of the 2.5 million persons in prisons and jails are there for simple possession. Goodness, the lives that are ruined, but could be saved if all of that money were invested in schools instead of prisons. If we legalized pot, it would defund terrorism, and it would defund gangs. This really is a no-brainer.
@Mcgweeezy Prohibition was the beginning of organized crime in the United States. When prohibition ended, so did a lot of the income that supported the organizations. It took many decades, but a good portion of those crime bosses are gone. Prohibition does not work - never has - never will. You cannot legislate morality, and if people want to do something, they will find their fulfillment. Goodness, the tax revenue from pot along with industrial hemp would resolve our country's economic woes
"President Obama needs to think about where he would be right now had he been caught with drugs as a young black man. It's probably not in the Oval Office, so why does he insist on ramping up a drug war that needlessly churns other young black men through the criminal justice system?" -- Neill Franklin, a former Baltimore narcotics cop and executive director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition
@QuickTyson Yes he is, his DOJ is busting marijuana dispensaries in states where it is legal AFTER he said they wouldn't. Pay attention to Obamas actions, not his words.
@mikey3k ya, I thought Obama was cool, turns out he is just as cruel as Bush Jr. Clinton, Bush Sr. Reagan, Carter Nixon... Vote him out, The Republicans are villains, but at least they admit they are evil.
Legalize it!

@lrave8r Exactly, no underground markets if they sell it on the surface.
