  • "Art doesn't need profit to qualify or to justify it" - awesome truth from Ian

  • wheres part 1??

  • His facial features resemble that of my late grandfather, which I think is kind of great.

  • i met fugazi at a denny's when i was 15 acroos from the palladium in hllywood, they were super cool, guy asked me about surfing because i was a log hair then, they pointed at eddie vedder, who was playing the same benifit and said you should get that guys autograph he's gonna be famous. i laughed and did, and they are. lol

  • he's a genius

  • I've always found myself agreeing with Ian's opinions of DIY. If you aren't creating music for the love of doing it, you just shouldn't do it at all.

  • Song at 0:52?

  • What's the song in the beginning?

  • whelp it's about time i travel to the past to win

  • "Art is not defined as a business." -Negativland ................. Seems to resonate quite well with what Ian is saying at the end of the clip.

  • "Art doesn't need profit to qualify it or justify it."

  • "I'm happy I inspired people" You inspired me, sir.

  • "The scene now is better.... Because it has possibility." I love that statement.

  • ian mackaye 2012 hip-hop album?!??

  • you fail esleesee

  • i won so long ago i had to bring it back from the future

  • That was great. Thanks for posting, his philosophy of life has always intrigued me, and w/o irony, the fact that he is self-educated and not university educated but still thoughtful and well informed is wonderful.

  • independent music is sacred

god forbid it be contaminated with money

  • hes right, rock bands usually get to famous and lose track of who they are

  • I wonder what hip hop bands he likes hahha! tupac??

  • @theMAXILOPEZpsycho Atmosphere!

  • Keymaster2, thats a BIG +1 for Skewbald!!!

    Ian Mackaye = Legend!

  • you forgot egg hunt, pailhead, skewbald. Other bands Ian was in.

  • KING

  • ian never did break edge right???

  • Unless he changed his mind at some point, he never was "edge". He was never part of the movement that was started in his name. He never wanted to start a movement. It just happened. But from what I understand, he's still has the same values.

  • nice

  • A lot of punk rockers from the period are drug free and share the same ethical values, they were all inspired by the example of Ted Nugent.

  • yes i did hear about ted nugent against drinking, drugs and smoke, but i hate his hunting and animal killing believes

  • "They're fucking assholes." lol

  • Thanks for posting. the more interviews, the better!

  • i love this guy

  • Ian is the absolute man.

  • awesome!
