Parson's spent his money to go on a hunt. Obviously dozens (if not hundreds) of people were fed. The elephant population is increasing in area's where hunters apply good game management. Don't let emotions trump facts. Sure an elephant died, but there were a lot of positives that came out of this hunt. When humans have a financial or social incentive in an animal, that animal, almost 100% of the time, thrives. Like it or not, that is a fact of life.

While you are eating your hamburger tonight remember that the animal you are eating had to die.. and it was not even endangering your life like this animal was to those people. @Joeybsmooth No, I eat meat. I hunt (non-endangered local species w/ bow+arrow) and I eat organic, cageless meat. I do my best to eat food that is local. When I have the resources, I plan to farm and raise animals. Killing and eating another species is fine with me, as long as it is done responsibly, without cruelty and for food purposes only. I would have had no problem with this elephant dying if the villagers were the ones who did it. Instead, it was a millionaire big game hunter.

i find it amazing that man has gone from a hunter in order to survive to being appalled by hunting in such a short time. This may come as a surprise to many but not all regions of the world are flush with cheap sandwiches and groceries. I think most are just mad because it is a rich American that came to shoot the animal. The guilt and ignorance is astounding.

I have been hunting/eating hunted animals for years, and NONE of that was game hunting or to get my rocks off- that was for food. There is a HUGE difference there.

By killing that elephant it means people will not starve and the money paid will also go to helping to country...So yes he did a lot for the people and now their crops will not be destroyed.
