  • Good Lord, get a wind muffler.

  • Imagine getting hit by that mofo

  • you would think they would let the f-40's go to there top speed of 100

  • the tracks start to sing at 0:16

  • mbta said their going to get 75 brandnew bi level carsfrom bombadier and get about 15 HHp-8s for the provdine line they said they should have all thus by 2013 do to the cost and manufactring and all new parts they are also going to replace all their old gp40's anf f40s and leave the new f40's they recently fixed to become eco freindlyy so they are going to use those and the hhp-8's MARC has hhp-8s on their peen line whcih runs on the NEC like MBTA so their going to do the same thing!

  • Yeh i heard about that too

  • @donutboy617 I never heard about the HHP-8s!

  • i saw this train yesterday!

  • I Swear to God on this, I once saw a pigeon flying around on a track and then i saw an Acela. The Acela is a super fast high speed express train run straight through the pigeon, the wingsheild made direct contact with Mr. Pigeon and he dided a minute later....on the track of the train...Poor pigeon, What did he do?

  • Lovely

  • mbta should consider electric locomotives for their providence line on the nec.

  • Thats what I said to an MBTA engineer but he said they probably wouldn't get any because they like to be able to use engines on all their lines. What they could do though is get electric MU cars like SEPTA and NJT do and they could use them as regular coaches on the other lines. They should find some way to take advantage of the electric catenary!

  • Thats a good idea. They could even considder getting some dual mode electric locos and just raise the pantographs when the train is going on the providence line

  • Yeh, thats a great idea

  • @TNT314159 they should look into buying some of the ALP45DP's like NJT has

  • @MrZkr123 that would be a great idea

  • A good idea would be to get NJ TRANSIT Arrow III's when they retire in 2012. That paint scheme would be great on them.

  • You mean the MBTA buy the Arrow llls? Maybe in 2012 they will have enough money to buy them but right now they have held off plans to buy new coaches. Of course used ones would be cheaper but it's like what happened when they were going to buy new engines. They were going to buy brand new ones but didn't have enough money so they were going to buy used ones from GO Transit in Toronto but they didn't have enough money for those either.

  • Wow...that's why i've wondered why they still had the same equipment from the 1980's. I guess NJ TRANSIT must be the richest company in NJ because each one of their coaches is about half a million or more. plus their like the railroad dealership because they sell & lease their trains.

  • Yes they have pretty old equipment but there oldest cars have been rebuilt- the pullman-standard single level coaches. I actually thought they were the newest but they just seem fresh and new because they were rebuilt. They did purchase a Genset switcher recently and have built a another branch out of South Station so they must have some money but not enough for new engines and cars.

  • dat look like a definate 80mph

  • Wow why can't NJTs F40s haul bi-levels like that!?

  • when I rode the Acela Express, we went throught Canton Junction at 100+ mph.

  • How fast was it? Didn't seem fast 2 me.

  • maybe 50 or 60 not sure
