I'm not trying to sound sexist, but over the years I've noticed a frightful and overwhelming occurrence of the most ubiquitous frequency. Aside from greats like Julia Sweeney, Maria Bamford, Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman, female comedians just aren't funny-- this has nothing to do with gender-specific jokes. Comediennes have restraint and caution as their performance bylines . The content is always on the observational minutiae of others and the delivery is sedentary... like Tig Notaro.

I'm not going to judge solely on the merits of comedic taste, but you should really exert more than three synapses if you expect to write a good standup bit. Comedians like D-Cross and Greg Proops will take something familiar, and then work an entire 5 min. bit out of it. Purple Onion has the most biased audiences-- hipsters are the nefarious inverse to rednecks. This audience hardly laughed for Patton, but they're rofl-ing to this cyclical bullshit?! Seriously, hicks & hipsters are of kin.

Aside from pulling way back on the rhetorical overkill, you might pose a counterargument or two: it will loosen up your critique and make you sound less shrill and condemnatory.

DUDE! We're way past the snip-snaps and retorts: the argument comes full-circle back to where it started: female standups for the most part are unfunny, and the moment this is said aloud, some dolt sees it as an affront to gender-equality everywhere. This is what 'this' has been all about. Listen, WHO'S the one dragging out the flotsam of a spat between us out into public eye for all to see... an entire TWO DAYS LATER? I BLOCKED YOU MAN!
