GM won't sell nearly that many Volts anyway.

@597914 Here is an example of Obama running GM. The Chevy Volt is being sold for $41,000 but costs $86,000 to build. The government is offering a $7500 subsidy to buyers. So the government (tax payers) are paying $52,500 of the cost of this piece of shit no one wants. It only goes 40 miles on batteries and 240 on gas. The Nissan Leaf costs $32,000 and goes 100 miles on batteries. Way to go Obama Motors! How long before GM is bailed out again?

@597914 Government Motors is lying about the Chevy Volt being an all electric car. It is just another hybrid built off the $17,000 cheap piece of junk Chevy Cruze. The Nissan Leaf is all electric, is not getting subsidized, and is made in America. It's batteries are made in America too unlike the Cruze which the batteries for it are made in South Korea.

The Volt uses a generator to recharge its battery And if you drive 40 mi. or less you never have to use the gas and the engine never has to engage the wheels and it recharges off household current. The Leaf's range is limited to driving conditions AND the Leaf HAS to be plugged in to charge its self and unless you have a 40 mi cord you ain't going nowhere!

The Leaf is all electric and made in America. The Leaf's batteries are made in America. The Volts batteries are foreign made. The Leaf has a 100 mile range. @43m1garand The Volt is always driven by the electric motor ALWAYS. It is NOT a hybrid. The engine can apply assist during low battery power which rarely occurs. If you drive less than it's projected range the engine NEVER engages the wheels and NEVER uses gas. The Volt can be charged on household 110/220 current and will never leave you stranded waiting for a charge. California has rolling brown outs. People are told to not run certain appliances during peak times in the summer all over the country yet somehow utilities can handle charging millions of Volts. GM won't sell nearly that many Volts anyway.

It just makes too much sense to build them overseas. And all those problems are contributed to by the unions and the socialists they support. On top of that fiat currency etc...

When union thugs decide that they should be able to get 3 times what they are worth, and then use violence and a corrupt government to get it, that is greed. When union bosses get work rules that force businesses to hire too many people so that they get more dues, that is greed.

They even have guys making 27/hr. to be 'safety observers' in orange vests. For a guy pushing a lawnmower. Well I'm talking about the UAW and you need to look further than 2 years to see our concessions and yes, we are desperate, but there are plenty more reasons US companies have struggled and it isn't the unions fault. I didn't design the Aztec or the trade laws that make it easy to outsource our jobs. Look at the whole picture.

There is plenty to go around and all sides can be happy. I'm not asking for six figures. A happy workforce can make the bosses more money than they need. And forced overtime, harsh conditions and environment that beats your body down deserves more than walmart wages.

Chavez was a confidante to the AFT president Al Shanker. Chavez used to be a liberal, starting her career among socialist and labor union officials.
