  • this song does not have nearly enough applause - let us all clap along

  • This is a great classic! Oldies are the best. Todays groups suck.

  • awesome love it

  • Great song. Classic.

  • I feel exactly the same "sukomsanru" - I've listened to this over and over and I'm smiling so much, my cheeks hurt. Such a rare gift and it feels wonderful. They can be proud of their talent and ability to make people feel happy.

I'm wondering who the piano man is??? He looks so much like Dave Somerville - both very classy gentlemen, I was thinking maybe they are father and son - does anyone know?? Thank you for this video :o)

  • Fabulous, great great show of the Diamonds, I couldn't help smiling with happiness. Thanks so much for uploading. I really love it.

  • AWESOME! Loved it then and still love it now! Good Rock n Roll

  • :-D Loved it, how the guy still covers his ears at the beginning, that brought a smile to my face.

  • tears and shivers.. so well done guys.. incredible! Thank you!!

  • Grew up in the mid-60's, took this music with us on our WestPac cruise of 66-67 to keep us in touch with our hometowns. Those above who voted dislike have to be from another planet or just so young they have no knowlege of how great an era this was, and what a shame. Thank you for a great video with music that takes us back in time.

  • Nice, Very Nice, I think I'll go ride my Triumph Bonneville now

  • simply....its just magical...

  • Diamonds are beautiful and will shine forever !

  • Whoa, that was a little rude for that singer to put his fingers in his ears at :30. Maybe he was trying to add some levity into the performance, but it lacked good taste.

What an excellent song. Thank you for posting it.

  • @brownies4you That has always been part of their act. Take a look at /watch?v=VCrpUsLd5kE&feature=related to see them back in 1957. He does the same thing.

  • @Dicedude Thank you....good to know that.

  • I saw them perform two days ago at the Niagara Seneca casino. I must say I was disappointed because for half of the 90 minute show they were singing Christmas songs. I came to hear doo-wop and 50's music, not Christmas songs - if I wanted that I would have gone to a Christmas concert. However, the other half was excellent and they are a still a great talent. I especially liked their elongated version of Little Darlin'. No original members left.

  • The Original Diamonds 1952 - 1953 Were A Black Group... Lead Harold Sonny Wright - Daniel Stevens - Myles Hardy - Ernest Ward

  • @eunicia1 Yea what ever.

  • No doubt . They were great and they still are. Pure talent my friends. The belong to the golden era of the late 50´s and 60´s. Those were the days my friend........

  • Great old music..The lead singer reminds me of Bob Barker a little..anyone agree?..RWB

  • @rwb010109 I sorta thought that too...LOL

  • These guys rock. This is music. This was the best time ever in my life. Now we have rap. What a joke !!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @rwb010109 I thought the same lool ; however Bob Barker could only wish !!!!! I think Dave Somerville looks more handsome now than ever before . I've been trying to copy his moves lol as I sing along - every movement is perfection!!!

  • I was sure the guy with the deep voice was black! ;) I guess they'd be just a bit older than me (like about 12 years or more). Truly a classic! '50's and '60's - nothing better. Those were the days of real music!

  • I can't believe I used to play the 1957 original on my record player....... they sound better now than they did........They are just brilliant

  • I'd be lucky to just reach these guys ages, let alone performing this well. Great rendition of a great song!!!

  • that was fabulous!!!!!!! 2 months after the release I married Sybil...Our song..thanks for the upload.

  • the bass guy is better than ever!

  • this was music people

  • love this song

  • If that's not lip sync'd then that very damn impressive after all these years

  • WOW!!!!!!!!! He sounds soooo good!!!!!

  • Gupa!

  • STILL FANTASTIC !!!

  • wo wop fofeva

  • good

  • Brings back beautiful memories!

  • Love all this.....real music with simple lyrics to sing along with.. My era late 50's/early 60's.......... Hope RAP dies soon!

  • You people have no idea what they are missing in real rock and roll music

  • Oh my!!! Soooo talented, these guys are just awesome. Now this is real talent!!!

  • much respect to those born in the 40's - early 60's. best generation.

  • WOW. Im not 64 but that was sensational. As the saying goes YOU CANT BEAT CLASS so true

  • How can you not love this ?

  • love the song before my time but timless

  • Hey there BargainDaze you hit it rght on t he head.. How fantastic these times was.. Music that had meaning... SO many memories and yes romances not drugs and hurting someone.. Thats for posting BargainDaze....

  • hey im 20 and this is what i listen to msot of the time so bite me the young ones these days dont forget about the past

  • "Diamonds are forever". How come so many marriages break up...maybe we just let love(diamonds) slip through our fingers. "We carry this treasure in earthen vessels." & "Love endures forever" & "Floods of water cannot quench love." A grieving retired Catholic priest. Hey, there is lots of love out there; so let's not be overcome by pessimism! Thanks.

  • Never tire of listening to this fab music when ever i get fed up this great music and this truly great group always manages to cheer me up thank you.

  • I met this group many, many years ago at a bus stop in Toronto Ontario, I was about 16 years old (I am now 74)and my friends and I were coming home from a dance. They were waiting for the bus too and told us who they were, this was long before they were known, so when they did make it big it was quite a thrill to say I knew them when. I always thought they were pretty good.

    /watch?v=Ve4fM4TV82k&feature=channel_video_title

  • wonderful....wonderful

  • Well-a, I was wrong-a to forget The Diamonds even briefly-- they really ARE "forever"!

  • la la la la la brilliant - Binki

  • best music ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is watyyyyyyy better then the stuff that is played now

  • Now that's music! How can you beat that ;-)

  • im 16 and i love this kind of music it just makes my day!

  • There will never be another yesterday , And yes I agree, Today's society will never understand.

  • No prozac! That's what made us happy in the fifties- no b.s.

  • Its about persona ;-) ;-) great you lot are ;-)

  • que maravilha!

  • hey, these lads are tremendous... this was the song where 'showaddywaddy' got the idea of their band name!

  • oouuuuhhhhaaaa que du bon merci vive le Rock n' Roll

  • My God this is one of the best back to the original groups playing again not many of these things work in fact they should have just left the memory, the two best ones on you tube this and PJ Probey the first few bars of that intro and the vocal intro FANTASTIC. and i have heard them all.. ten stars out if five.

  • This is just fantastic, i listen to this at least twice a week if i can. I was a teenager in the 80's but was brought up on 50's/60's music and that simply is the best era.

The music of today just pales in comparison to the great acts of the above era.

All music is about today is making as much cash as you can while you with a dodgy voice and electronic wizardry.....go listen to modern acts in concert and with a very few exceptions they are total sh*t.

  • Fabulous

  • the best the best..love this song.......forever.

  • Love it, I remember when it 1st became a hit, almost instantly.....Roy

  • I love them. Dave is still sexy, So goodlooking., He is not much older than me. Sure wish I could see him in person. and hear him in person as well. Loved them when I was a teenager, and still do. nanniepurk

  • THIS IS JUST AS GOOD, if not better than the original. This is my absolute favorite song of the 50's. An era of Romantiscism, Innocence, and true Americana. When listening to this song you can just FEEL the momentum in it's melody. THAT right there my friends, is true music. YOu can't get the same satisfaction out modern day pop. This is the real deal right here. Thank God for wonderful perople like these to bring such inspiring music to the world!

  • oh wow.. I am English and loved American music from this era....I am now 60 and it brings back some fab memories..could dance the night away. FAN...TAS...TIC

  • AMAZING

  • FANTASTIC

  • FANTASTIC - This was on our PBS TV station.

    They still got it.

    *****stars

    Thumbs up

Thank you kevinjj for your upload

  • Great to see old timers still rocking .. and doing it so well. I stll gig at 72 yrs.

  • Does ANYONE know who the pianist is in this rendition? If u do please email debfromns@yahoo.com Thanks! :)

  • I'm 72 in a couple of days time and listening to these guys has brought back many happy memories of my teens - thank you. If only the muicians were allowed to develop music instead of the recording companies insisting on them making music that "sells" we'd still be enjoyong vocal harmonies and great lyrics.

  • Superb ! From an era when music WAS music and sounding so good on this vid. Then again talent is talent

  • Even as a kid born in the '80s, I became a fan of the music that was made 10 and 20 years before I was born and I still love it compared to a lot of the stuff made nowadays. Some artists today should honestly be ashamed of what they're exposing the public to because it's probably the most unimaginative stuff anybody could come up with.

  • OUTSTANDING!!! thank you sooo much for the memories and the fun,Tom D. Brick,NJ. [at the shore].

  • steve winwood on piano

  • This has made my day.... incredible....

  • I have an old Diamonds 78 speed (rpm) record pressed by Mercury of Canada with their 2nd hit "Church Bells May Ring" and ""Little Girl of Mine"!!!

  • Brilliant! Moving! Superb! Quality! Sublime!

Absolutely love it! The lead singer is a performer, through and through.

Lovely Jubbly! Nothing, absolutely NOTHING like it today.

    A total joy!

  • I love this song. Most of the music these days is pure junk.

  • They don't come better then this!!

  • The endless controversy about this group and this song is really that they originally did it as a spoof and mick-take, but performed it so well that it became itself an enduring classic as a genuine (and even moving) version of the song, especially the legendary spoken middle-break)? So, given its origins, who cares if the "applause" is dubbed? The Diamonds 'worked on' the original song to give it appeal, to give pleasure, so lets allow that 'working on' to go on!!

  • Amazing!!!

  • am 66 now but still remember the drive-in theater and seeing them ... my first musical heart throb ... love the memory

  • I would hope they will play in Florida. Beautiful. I loved this group.

  • Yeah...Top song. I did read somewhere that 2 of the members died in 2004. Dunno if that's true or not.

  • a group of grey panthers steps up to the mic and delivers their signature song. how wonderful. I remember when these guy s were MUCH younger.

  • This song changed rock and roll. It's great to see the real group singing this great song again.

  • Didn't want to sound mean myself. I feel sorry for young people now, because the "songs" out now are about 10 words repeated over and over. I'm 64 and had the luxury of listening to songs like this as a young person. My youngest son says the new s__t out now reflects real life. BS! Talking about smacking my bitch, selling drugs, busting a cap in somebody's ass is NOT real life. I admit early rock was pretty romantic, but we liked it that way, and it WAS real life. Cheers

  • @BargainDaze Totally agree!! Well Said!!

  • @BargainDaze Right on Bro! :)

  • @BargainDaze little older

    than you

but this is music..b. holly....fats d......tokins....could go on and on.i grew up in the 50s and wouldnt trade a minute of it..we are lucky to be able to come to you tube.

  • @BargainDaze

That Isn't actualy true, moste the popular music are like that, but not my kind of music.......

    (by a 17 year boy)

  • @inusword YOU are the exception my young friend, and I compliment you on your musical taste!

  • @BargainDaze

Atta boy BargainDaze well said, good for you!! I'm 51. - Ed

  • @BargainDaze just comment it is real life for some people selling drugs eg doesn't mean not real life for someone out there (i recommend u read jay z decoded book !)

  • @whirlyfan Don't want to read anymore of that "poor me" crap. I came from a worse neighborhood than most of those people. I know the "hood". You DON'T have to "slap your bitch" around, sell drugs, defend your turf, bust a cap in somebody's ass, or none of that shit! When I grew up there was NO welfare, food stamps, nothing, and we grew up just fine. Even the kids who only had one parent.... WE grew up: NO WHINING!!

  • @BargainDaze i am 15 years old and i confuse my friends because i can't stand rap or hi hop. most of the music i have is on vinyl and pre dates 1980. the only people i can talk to is my 72 year old grandfather. i honestly wish i was born in the early 1950's so i could experience rock from the start. it seems since the 80's all the music started getting bad. i can respect if people like different genres but most rap has wretched lyrics.

  • @BargainDaze NOTHING MEAN AT ALL THER SITTING ON THER TALENT NOW A DAYS WHY?BECAUSE THER LAZY,THEY DONT WANNA WORK FOR IT LIKE THEY DID IN THE OLD DAYS,YOU WERE GREAT OR YOU WERE NOBODY,NOW THEY WILL CUT LOOSE ANYBODY THAT WILL WEAR THE LEAST CLOTHING,AND HAS BEEN TO 20 REHABS,IM 50 ANDS OBVIOUS I AGREE WITH YOU,I MISS THE PAST MORE THAN ANYBODY WILL EVER KNOW?IT WAS BETTER EVERYTHING

  • Comment removed

  • @BargainDaze Amen... couldn't have said it better..

  • @BargainDaze This is real music. You can understand all the words. Brings back memories of a happier times in this world. My biggest problem was who to ask out on a date !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @BargainDaze I'm 64 too. Dancing was the standard every record had to uphold. If you can ever hear some of those who rated the records on Am Bandstand they all say you can dance to it or not. I think the Beatles & the other British groups put and end to that kind of rating. But that doesn't mean there weren't records to dance to because there was. There were to standard old records & new ones they just weren't judged on the dancing standard alone.

  • @BargainDaze im only 15 and i think music today is s__t this is real music :)

  • @MrKrazykev13 Same story with me :P

  • @MrKrazykev13 today music if u ask me is no good

  • @freddy69freddy i agree 100%

  • I love you ,, i love you ,,, big kiss

  • Those guys have aged REALLY well... VERY little difference from the original!!

  • I like these type of programs that originally aired on pbs but the one thing that I dont like are the fake applause.

  • @danoz430254 FAKE applause??? Well, you've got your own opinion. All I can say is there is always a sourpuss in the crowd...

  • @BargainDaze Not trying to be mean on my first statement. I like the group of singers and I'm 25 yrs old they dont make groups like these any more. Mostly our young crowd doesn't appreciate music like that any more. I was just noticing that when theres applause you can tell some of its fake becuase the crowds not applauding except the beginning and ending. It's the same on all the other videos of the series

  • nice

  • Crikey, they sound better than they did originally; talent always shows through, oo-ah-oo-ah-oo-ah love it!!

  • Absolutely fabulous -they've still got it in spades! Don't worry folks getting old doesn't mean you are past it- this may be better than the original.

  • Holy MACKEREL ! *****

  • one word. goosebumps.

  • A TIMELESS CLASSIC.

  • Excellent Artists !!!!!! They are True Diamonds in every way.....and I listen to "Little Darlin' " repeatedlly without EVER gettting tired of this song or any of their songs.

    Superb PERFORMANCE.......... !!!!!!! God Bless.

  • How can anyone dislike these superb artists many thanks!!

  • Os melhores, the best!!!!!!!!

  • again and again and again....please. Love it so so much....Matt

  • Iam 17 and I love this kind on music thats all I like is the 50's and 60's music that's real stuff right there that's music to my ears right there

  • Back in the day, when this song came on the radio and you were a teenage boy driving your car you stepped on the gas. You could not help it. Lots of speeding tickets were caused by this song,. We all loved it,. Got a ticket myself,

  • To: 1bigbuy ------------It is refreshing to hear from someone who knows what they are talking about! You are absolutely correct on everything. Obviously, you WERE THERE just like me. ( I'm now almost 66 years old.) It is almost humorous to hear some people come on here---probably young people--- who didn't experience the era, like we did. Yes, these ARE the ORIGINAL " Diamonds."

So, of course they sound like THEMSELVES when they recorded the song! I think about the 50s with much fondness!

  • @SuperMusicman1963 Yep, I was there..... born in 1947.. I've got boatloads of old 45's to prove it.

  • Pat Boone was right in his intro~ they are fabulous. An exceptional sound & the lead voice is something special. Audience enraptured same as me.

  • thats real stuff .awesome. thanx

  • How awesome they dont make music like this anymore great Song great Singers....

  • I`m 47 years old. I love the Doo-Wop era and the music of 50`s and 60`s so much.

I see this video and I got goose bumps and tears of happiness and I adree with somebody here: "If only I had been born just a few years earlier"

Thank you for posting this video so much !!

  • @vivamojito, I am 20 and listen to a lot of music and artists from the 30s until present day. But what does age have to do with anything? Good music transcends age, race, and gender.

  • @cumensu I agree wholeheartedly. I think what a lot of us baby boomers are talking about is that younger people tend to listen to rap/hip hop. For whatever reason they have adopted that as we did early rock n roll. Honestly, I like the beat of rap/hip hop, but can't stand the whining about how bad they've got it. MANY of us had it much worse. We just didn't whine about it... For instance, my older sister was only 4 when my Dad got drafted into WWII. My Mom and her had to move 7 times in 3 years

  • @BargainDaze, I understand what you are saying but rap is not the only type of music that as you say whines about "how bad they've got it." The blues does this, rock does this, etc. Rap has it bad side, but so does many other music. I don't think it is necessarily a whining thing but more of a poetic release type of thing.

  • เป็รผู้สูงอายุที่สมบรูณ์แบบ

  • So much I'd love to say about this ,but through tears of joy I can simply just say ,,Wonderful ! If only I had been born just a few years earlier.

  • I do recommend to watch and to listen to the channel of Dorwenda.

  • This is such a feel-good song, everyone's having a good time !

  • Here's one for you Judy!! Only about 50 years after!! I just love watching this.....especially that good-looking lead singer!!!

  • oh boy im so lucky iwas able to listen and watch this music video iwas able to get one of the copy i love it

  • Where and when was this recorded info please.

  • My all time greatest song this group are on another planet listen to it over and over again brings tears of pleasure every time remember going to Ashton under lyne palis when i was a teenager listening to this record then wonderful memories

  • Also hit the UK charts in the early 70s. 1973 if memory serves me correctly.

  • ...CALL NOW...
