Love the Chief! A great fighter, definitely one of the best during the 90s. A heckuva nice guy OFF the ice too. Even bought my friend and I a beer when we meet him in the offseason in Calgary.
@Taubi81 1. Bob Probert 2. Behn Wilson 3. Joey Kocur 4. Dave Brown 5. Bob Gassoff 6. Craig berube 7. Larry Playfair 8. Clark Gillies 9. Donald Brashear 10. Marty Mcsorley Those arent written in stone, just my personal top 10
Im sitting here with the Chief. He says thanks to all his fans. He didnt know he had any! Hes getting a tattoo at Ink for the Soul in Aurora CO. Signed Chief.
Loved Berube. Never forget when the Flyers came to LA for a brawlfest against the Kings (89 or 90?). Flyers had Berube, Chychryn, Tocchet and Carkner. Kings had Baumgartner, McSorely and Jay Miller. However, my favorite highlight from the Chief is when he bloodlied that dope Kevin Collins.
March 4th 1989. That was one of the best games I ever saw. I had Craig Berube sign a full page pic from a magazine that had him dropping McSorely with a big left from that game.
I remember that picture! It had Marty's arm flailing over his head and Berube was following through on a punch. The picture looked like it was superimposed onto shattering glass. If I remember correctly, it was from a first or second issue of a now defunct magazine dedicated to hockey fighting.
BTW, I was at that game, about five rows up from the ice. I agree, it was one of the best games ever. Weren't there like seven or eight fighting majors in that game? And I'm talking real fights, with really tough guys (see my first post) -- not the crap we see today.
im from philly... the man is a legend. end of story. the only time i seen him lose a fight was against paul lause and thats because laus was able to get his arm loose and caught him with one he never saw comin. the man is one of the best EVER
love the chief. For awhile he was untouchable. Played over 1000 games which is amazing for a "tough guy" style player. Fought everyone and I mean everyone who was considered a top notch fighter. I don't think that he gets the credit he deserves.
Great video, he's one of the best to ever throw fists. He's also a really nice guy that always made time for the fans after practice and stuff. Awesome vid!
Fuck the score... you want old school Flyer's fans on their feet, have Haexy in goal, and Berube and Brown on the ice... guarrengoddamntee not one person goes to get a beer or take a piss.

Chief was one of the better fighters in the NHL. He got the best of Marty McSorley every time they fought. Not many can make that claim.

You forgot to put the Berube-Laus video.

Craig wasn't all that big for an enforcer. I hear he walked around at 6'1 205ish Even back then enforcers were avereging 220-230.

How could you beat someone whose nickname is "The Chief"???
miafan89 4 years ago
Yes, the Hersey Bears -- an American Hockey League (AHL) team. Berube played about 100 games for them before he made the permanent jump to the NHL.

Let me add, THIS WAS A GREAT VID!!! I am sitting here with the biggest shit eating grin on my fcae. 5*!!!
I have a 80 minute VCR tape of all Berube fights. Got it around 1990, so all of his fights were with either the Bears or the Flyers.
