  • Is mathsecret an online lesson programe?

  • WOW!

  • i wonder how fast the user of the abacus in this video would go against the japanese lady who can calculate very fast on the calculator?

  • The issue with this comparison is... that the person on the right doesn't know how to use a numberpad without looking, thus he spends allot of time looking back and forth.

  • This technique might be somewhat effective but you try and exagerate it too much by making the man go 1/4 speed while the girl is moving as fast as she possibly can

  • @MrKyRow actually this is the fastest know method of doing math. The japanese method is incredibly fast. search for and watch this video. Watch this video and see if you can solve the match problems with a calculator nearly as fast as the little girl does. • imagine this guy in a grocery store dec 23rd? with a cash register...lol

  • @darkmacgaren NO SHIT SHERLOCK

  • maths is very simple. it's all patterns, and if these kids are using a pattern to determine the answers much more quicker than other parts of the world in their minds, then good for them. i wonder if they also have patterns for such maths as alegbra, and so on.

very impressed with this form of calculations though.

  • Thank you for your comment. MathSecret's objective is to lower children's fear of math. By converting numbers into graphical symbols, it allows brain to "interpret" math with ease, this includes math such as Algebra, Calculus, and beyond. Ripple effects of MathSecret learning can benefit children in other subjects as well.

We welcome everyone to learn MathSecret FREE at our site.

  • hmmmmmm

  • The maths ability of the kids is very strong / fast and the right adult typing skills is too weak.

It would be much more meaningful if you can show a demonstration with a world-class numeric pad typist.

  • this is Insane man! how the hell is possible a human do this things? asian are amazing!

  • funny how you don't see either one of their faces. hmmmmmm.

  • Faces were not shown because of camera angles, Samatha's face was shown in another video. Josh's face was not shown per his request.

  • @Mathsecret yeah It would suck to be known as the 23 year old who lost to a 9 year old at math. Regardless of the fact that there is no way to compete with the japanese style of math taught by mathsecret.

  • the guy using the calculator is freaking slow. you still need to practise men. just like abacus they started practising it since they were young.

  • you all have to look deeper than background in race... The reason younger asian children seem to be crazy good at math is because they use their brains more than western culture. Westerners look at math with a calculator... which has taught westerners to be lazy with their math... or mental math moreover

  • I agree with you 100%. In the U.S. people are very used to calculators. When I took calculus in College, one professor didn't allow the use of calculators and so many struggled with simple math. Calculators aren't good, making the brain work pays with dividend in the end.

  • It's not because they're Asian that makes them smart. A person of Asian decent raised in America would think and act like an American unless raised by an Asian. It's not the genetics as much as it it the culture.

  • @SnippetChaos what he is say is that its not that the japanese are smarter its just that american culture is stupider. I agree.

  • What's Samantha H. doing with her fingers?

  • She's using an chinese/japanese abacus in her mind.

  • is that how asians r super awesome at math??

    cool

  • Not all asians. My wife used to have a good level in abacus but now she has lost it and couldn't definitly at that time use an abacus in her mind.

Abacus to reach this level need years of pratice.

  • asians are like math prodiges... and if you say thats racist... its really not, its true.... no offense to anyone, not trying to hurt feelings, but its true.... but i am in advanced math, and i could probably do like 3 before i lost... :'(

  • well asians(no offense to anyone at all) usually find one thing and master it. like math for instance.

  • EXACTLY!!!!

    ROFLMAO

that explains it right there...... epic

  • thats what she said.

  • indeed ^^

  • she is manipulating an imaginary abacus

  • whoa....owned....

  • ha, i'm 19 and never learned how to do long division. Still dont know...we were giving calculators in grade four and have used them ever since.

  • IT depends on where you go. If you go in the Heart of London or the metropolis, then it might be flaky. But if you go in Oxford country, then you will most likely have spot on education.

  • @myownlilfantac not that its any of your fault, but that is really sad.

  • It is so shameful what our schools in the US teach for math!

  • Not only in the US. I really feel like my school in the UK failed me in so many ways.

  • My UK education was brilliant, I couldn't have been luckier.

  • australia is just like the UK...incredibly outdated

  • Personally I wouldn't say that.

  • fair enough......yeah ur right..sorry its just that australias school system is based on the uk...but things have changed over there since? i hope so for the better...its not bad but it could be better over here

  • Well I think every year our school system has had new things added, I'm at Uni now, but I went to a maths and computer collage and it was really good.

I guess all education systems are a little old though, they kind of have to be.

  • Agreed.
