nutnfancy i like you're videos, but you always tell people that they will not be capable of packing an axe into the woods because of the weight. when you compared the rtak2 to an axe you never mentioned the fact that a GB small forest axe only weighs an ounce more, and it would cut a tree down at an increased rate. plus when you do go out on you're adventures you seem to pack a multitude of knives. i think you could take the weight of an axe

I'm glad to see that i am not the only one who likes to go out in the not so great of conditions snow camping and extreme heat are good tests of what a man can handle....people just think you are crazy when you go out when it is not ''perfect''.I say it's real world and thats what you need! keep up the great work nutnfancy
Hey man another great vid from one of the two best survival guys on the tube ,dont let the armchair warriors drag you down man ,they are for most teenagers who dont get off the xbox/playstation all day ,i love every vid you make and find them very informative yet again ,cheers mate.HK.
dude no one wants to go with me june 2010 because I live near Mobile Alabama and go off into the delta. I know what you mean when you say your friends want to stay inside. They hate the humidity, the vampire like bugs, storms every fkn day and the 105 degree heat index. I don't know how you do it in the snow. It's hot almost all year round these parts. I'd freeze to death if I took my kit the places you go. Planning on getting a kelty super bag like the one you have. hold more gear.
like ur video. i am 56 yr old lady in nova scotia. stroke survivor love the woods. i snowshoe in winter always take survival gear love it. am slowerb t6han i was but still out there doing it. used to sleep in woods in winter when i was younger but not now. take care.karen.
nice.... Living in Minnesota and growing up in the bush we love it cold!! Taken winter survival training in the Army and we dont stay inside in the winter. I use that video game controller comment all the time. Live and train hard and be ready... Thanks for the vids.
DUDE i would sooo go with you and be your camera man lol, but i live in California and dont get proper winters where i live, id have to drive a few hours north to do this stuff. really wish i could though.
im the same way, there are woods by my house and im always back there with my trusty ak47 bayonet and my friends make fun of me for it and i say the woods are better than a plastic playstation 3
Definitely out of shape... jk I'm a scout and multiple-time mountain backpacker, but never in crappy conditions like that. Hike on nutnfancy, or should I say Survivorman 2!
Cool runnings dude! Thanx for lots of in-depth info from your extensive knowledge base. I figured most of this stuff out by myself and it's good to see others who use the same techniques. Keep it up!
Been watching your videos for while now just wanted to say thanks! Your reviews and recommendations have been honest and insightful. The Nutnfancy Project has improved my knowledge on surviving and enjoying the great outdoors.
After watching these videos i went out in the woods where i live with about 2 feet of snow and i made my own lean-to. It looked exactly like yours(but i dont think as well built). i stayed in it all night and it was awsome. this vid helped me so much! thanks NUTN!!!!
This is a great video. It's clear you are very knowledgeable about wilderness survival situations. This video is very informative, and was fun to watch. One question, though: How do you find the time to do this?! :)
social - Nutn says that it is a Moonstone GorTex shell..bought on sale in 1996 from Mtn Gear in Spokane. It was around $125. For something similar, he stays try Campmor (. ) com. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)
Might you make more videos concerning dog care on long hikes, such as overnight care(ie:is she tied at night)..does she carry her own food and water?how did you train her to stay close without a lead?what about long term paw care in wet or snow?
Not sure if Nutn has any in depth ones yet about his dog. However in his High sky's series he talks a little about it. For instance his dog has a backpack and among other things carries her own food and water.
man, I dig this.. I might have to give something like this a try. Ive been wanting to try and "survive off the land" if you will for like a week and take nothing but the basic tools and maybe a fishing pole and survive for a good amount of time and build shelter and whatnot
dude...i so would like to maybe, idk,...audition for cameraman...id so be more than excited to be out there doin this with someone i could learn so much from!!
I live in the lower eastern half of michigan and I so want to find a spot where I can hike in and camp and that is sort of off the beaten path, I do have a prob though im 28 and have a rod in the right leg from breaking it twice and my knees are shot but I will trudge on and deal with it even though i have chronic pain. but the expirence would be worth the pain. Im looking for like a 2mi hike in to camp and 2mi hike out on the other side. I think it would be kool.
i have been hiking and camping by myself in stuff like that and all i have to say is that your in great shape cuz it can get very tiring when you have to care the backpack and everything and im 15. and i really like your vids
By the way Nutn, what do you do for a living? Id love the have a job that lets me do this kinda stuff. I'm a patrolman with limited funds and vacation time. But I do love the reviews and survival advise/
awesome video nutnfancy, i'm living in the high rockies right now (about 10,000 ft ) and i'm putting myself in a mock survival situation tomorrow and the day after. going to rely heavily on your advice! also i love your reviews, thanks again dude

This is a great video. It's clear you are very knowledgeable about wilderness survival situations. This video is very informative, and was fun to watch. One question, though: How do you find the time to do this?! :)
MisterLando 2 years ago
If you don't watch tv or play video games and have a wife to help with the kids you have lots more time than you'd imagine. imo

Might you make more videos concerning dog care on long hikes, such as overnight care(ie:is she tied at night)..does she carry her own food and water?how did you train her to stay close without a lead?what about long term paw care in wet or snow?
juliamac2004 2 years ago
Not sure if Nutn has any in depth ones yet about his dog. However in his High sky's series he talks a little about it. For instance his dog has a backpack and among other things carries her own food and water.
If you find more let me know as well. Thanks

man, I dig this.. I might have to give something like this a try. Ive been wanting to try and "survive off the land" if you will for like a week and take nothing but the basic tools and maybe a fishing pole and survive for a good amount of time and build shelter and whatnot
