  • The best song they ever did by a long long mile. I'm 55 now, but to me this one stood out and still stands out as a classic song of the eighties. But I'll go along with ludev1975, I just wish I could speak Polish....xx

  • Nice K-board, But I'm a fan of the olden but golden Synclavier

  • i cant get over how much he smiles and yet seems to be ashamed of it. trying to hide it, or the moking look he gives at 2:24 like 'i know im smiling'... how genuinely happy he looks. is it because he cant believe how good he sounds? is it because of the excitement of a rise to fame? it makes me smile every time

  • anyone got the 12 inch version of this

  • @rileypupboo I bought the 12 inch version when it was released and was very disappointed to find out it wasn't an extended version.

  • @PlasticDemons but you got the absolutely superb 12inch version of "game above my head" on the backside ;)

  • odlot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hear some pretty big similarities with The Field Mice's "Star Of David" here, though this came first. Great song.

  • Saw them at Rock City ( Nottingham UK ) When they were top of their game..... They were Fooooking good, I can tell you.

  • Love this tune

  • How did we used to dance to these classics. I was just 16 and finding out that chocolate, Stones bitter and ye olde english cider dont mix in 1982. Great memories great times.

  • amazing song.

  • Brilliant song, rare video - thanks so much for posting this!

  • The extra effects on vocals make this.

Prefer this in some ways to the album version although the vocals are MUCH stronger on the studio one.

  • Grimnir, this version sounds almost exactly like the (original British) album version - without strings...

You are probably thinking of the single.

Maybe in other countries the single version was included on the 'Happy Families' LP.

I also like this version better. Much better!

  • I always liked this song , they don't make songs like this any more - superb...

  • Brilliant brilliant, this song I can listen to over and over again. Thanks

  • The Scott Walker of electro ...

  • @ge0ffr0y me mam wen she 1st heard this she thought it was Scott Walker

  • @ge0ffr0y

Spot on. Scott Walker is a legend make no mistake. This song is without doubt one of the best of the 80s. Lyrically, fabulous. If this had some twangy guitars (which I like) and a sad lead singer story, it would be the stuff of legend. Superb. No doubt about it.

  • Brilliant... thanks very very much

  • thanks for posting my friend...these guys where so ahead of their time....

  • wow!

  • isn't he gorgeous?

  • awesome.

  • Astounding song

  • i give this infinite stars.

  • My Childhood calls, L.O.V.E.

  • Q' hermosa version!!!

  • great song for eternity

  • Fantastic song, could listen to it for ever.

  • Great song, this is much better than the official video!

  • Mark 'Oh & Mesh did a really good cover version of this song a few years ago. Neil has a much better voice, though.

The original still sounds as wonderful as it did when I first heard it years ago.

  • I split up with a girl to this song in 1986, I still think of her...

  • Don't. They're not worth it ! Plenty more fish in the sea. The three Fs - Find them, F*ck them, and forget them !!

    Roddy the Sexist.

  • a great talent -abeit short lived ,25 yrs past -awesome !!!!!

  • He looks a bit girly but he has a good strong voice. S'pose this was the near end of the era when people of real talent had no artificial help, they got to where they wanted with hard work and talent.

  • Ahum ,that,s the style of that era its not girlish just fashion and looks.

  • blamange were another fav of mine along with the associates both very under rated .......

  • Love it

  • Superb!!

  • ....so good!!

    The 80s rule!

  • Waves, then goodbye I live in a wafer thin dream I, I can cry You know that time, time's not kind But I remember the way we were Slow, slow sad love I wonder do you miss my love I know you can't It's just a wave passing over me What are these waves? They're coming over me It must be my destiny Waves, coming by Goodbye, goodbye

  • wonderful song, brilliantly written "they dont make em like this anymore"!!!!

    cobby

  • It's such a brilliant song! It's sounds like the original album ('Happy Families') version which is , in my opinion, better than than the single version with strings. I love it!
