Yes,there is some retracts and air moves,but nothing comparing to time loss of learning first something else for several years.....And the program is done in minutes-as you are able to use proven out tools and technology(step over,accuracy, etc). Just import geometry and throw at it tools and procedures you used before.....done! And it will tell you necessary tool lengths, too.No guessing. Complex 3D mold cavity can be programmed in under 10 minutes and put on the machine....and walk away!

worknc is the best you all suck I love gordy whenever the software crashes he always helps. my machine shock so bad on this 5 axis toolpath i ran on my machine that the machine faulted out and smoke was coming from the head I would never use anything else.

I use Hypermill and I love it, is there better softwares? Of course, we could get Tebis or UG and when we need that much power (and have the bank roll) we probably will. Worknc would probably destroy Hypermill if all the Worknc employees spent time improving their software rather than playing on Youtube pretending to give 'unbiased opinions'.

Worknc is without doubt a product which enhances all design and manufacturing systems by providing amazing improvements in automatic features, reliability and ease of use. The automatic features of WorkNC allow novice CAM operators to automatically set up toolpaths in just a few minutes. No other CAM system can compete with the flexibility and bargain pricing of worknc.
I cannot help but notice the majority of your "completely unbiased" opinion is copied word for word off the Sescoi WorkNC web site. Google worknc and look at the first page that comes up...

I agree that the older versions of Worknc would destroy a "Tebis" (great post dperingrocks I fell to the floor laughing!) if you didn't examine the output closely. I downloaded V16 off the internet and it's considerably more stable (plus we're not cutting million dollar molds, if we wreck a part we're out maybe 5 bucks).

I once ran hyperMILL and tried to cut some light fixtures, very large files, lots of faces, and IF MDT or Think 3 read in the IGES file (That was a big if) then hypermILL would not make the facet file, without that, it couldn't make the cutterpath files. It failed. WorkNC not only read it in in less time but made the cutterpaths. Plus, you don't have to make different facet files for different finish tolerances like in hyperMILL.

WorkNC costs half the price of Tebis and with a little patience you can make it do almost everything Tebis can, I've worked on both. The newer versions of WorkNC are a lot better than they used to be too. Personally I'd like to see us get a demo seat of Powermill (its half the price of WorkNC and damn powerfull).

WorkNC is a pretty good cheap software. I've been using it for 3 years and never spazzed out like this. Granted the 5 axis is probably one of the most difficult to use, and yes there are a lot of retracts, but for what we do there is no reason to move up to one of big dogs (Catia, Tebis, Unigraphics). Plus there are plenty of hacked copies on the internet if you can't afford another seat :)

Using vehicles as an analogy there are 3 classes of CAD CAM software, buying any of the 3 will get you from Texas to New York:
1. A Moped: (OneCNC, BobCad, EdgeCAM, more)
Simple, very cheap and effective. 62 hours TX to NY
2. A Car: (Mastercam, Powermill, Worknc)
More money, a little more to learn, a lot more power. 22 hours TX to NY
3. A Airplane: (Catia, Tebis, UG)
Very expensive, a lot to learn, seemingly limitless power. 2 hours TX to NY
