Live performances are not everything. Why would I want to listen to a band live? New music is terrible. Even the Stone are re-releasing their old stuff. Why not make new stuff? Online music is not the problem. Music is the problem. it's so bad it's not even worth getting for free.
Hit love song ? Listen for yourself on you tube under the name Leif johnsen the song name "after all these years" just one of many songs i write I am a singer songwriter all styles will write and perform tv movies commercials I am a writing machine a one man band I love to create music thankyou check out mrhollywood00010001 for other things I create
I would rather go to a retailer (a physical store or an online store) and buy a physical disc - WHY? Because computers are constantly under attack by hackers and even though you use good quality Anti-virus software, and update daily, the crooks crash your computer often - and to fix it is very expensive. Cheaper in the long run to have a physical disc than to be hostage to downloads. Sony can shove their downloads up their ARSES.
@1forestcat unfortunatley you will soon no longer have a choice CD's are a dieing breed why would anyone logically continue to make something that no longer makes any money everything will be free on downloads
No one would be making audiophile-grade expensive CD players if no one was buying them. It's as simple as that. Downloads are still gaining ground, but will never kill off the CD. CDs wont be dead until lossless downloads are available for EVERY song in EVERY genre. I think the future is Blu-Ray audio. Just think, the record companies will get to re-issue their entire catalogs, again. Cheers mate.
Now people can get music that is a blessing to their lives...with out a label standing in the way...Major labels don't need that kind of power over what we hear...and some of us artists are not in it to get rich...some of us want to share our music just because it may be a blessing to others lives or uplifting...now we have a place to do that...
You know I'm an independant Christian artist...and I'm glad we have found a place we can share our music...even if it's shared for free...for years the major labels have been letting us hear only what they believe is good music that can sale...
I think CDs should be sold at the band's concert... and/or should be included in the purchase of the concert... say: the concert ticket goes for about $50 + dollars... the concert ticket should costs $70 and include t-shirts and other s&%$ that fans love... I don't buy a CD until a hear a performer live b/c if they have little to "no talent" (which is the case a lot these days...) I'll take my $20 and buy gas... live performances rock and I'll spend my life's saving for a good one....
OMG!!!! PATRICK!!!! i know you are there!!! i can see you posted a response 15 minutes ago!!! hey man i missed you, i'm always looking for a new video from you!! please post more videos!!!!
Yes - the whole thinking about intellectual property in music will change - not because laws change but because artists themselves make their own decisions to make their material available in new ways on new terms - often for free. Patrick Dixon
I've always felt the same way. I've watched a wide variety of artists make a living by allowing interested patrons spend as much or as little as they want on their albums. Even to the point of paying nothing. They seem to be doing fine. Always been my opinion that not everyone in this world is completely cheap. Thanks for the reply.
I couldn't agree more. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. You literally took the words out of my mind.
I think what will happen, in say 3 years, will be a much more equal playing field. The big acts now will soon level out with the unknowns. It's already started to happen.
It's funny that live music is becoming the main focus again. It's almost a regression back to the times of Mozart.

@Styphelus Yes interesting. And it is true that live performers sometimes struggle to recreate the studio sound on stage.

Do you think the way 'pirating' is treated will also change? Do you think copyright laws need a rehaul thanks to the introduction of the internet?
