fyi....Comcast is increasing the prices on all of its services on 4/24/2010. Plz do not call in to complain and ask for any deals or discounts b/c there arent any. Seriously. Besides most reps will probably mute there microphone while you complain and let you talk and ignore you and and just talk to the person sitting next to them. I know i do it all the time
I'll be honest, I'm comcast customer service rep. Customers keep calling expecting me to fix there issue with comcast. And there's absolutely nothing we can do. Sometimes I just tell customers stuff to get them off the phone because we're only suppose to be on phone with customers 6 minutes as a average or we get in trouble. Also dont waste time calling corporate, b/c they're just going to forward your complaint to the local call center that you originally called into.
I did work for comcast years ago. I have to say they do have the worst staff. In the three cities I worked in. Horrible horrible. They all suck . Never met one comcast employee worth anything. FUCK COMCAST
im sure you say that because your a worthless contractor or a mindless fool that thinks everyone owes you so you hate those at comcast. go cry some more.
i got a call today from a comcast repair guy and he swears over the phone im like um ok so i called comcast and they filed complaint about the worker hopefully he learns to treat customers better
@kellyberry I'm a comcast customer service rep . If the rep you talked to didnt give you a tix number to reference the compliant it basically means he didnt enter the complaint. We very rarely forward complaints b/c its like squeeling on a fellow employee. And employess hate the company more than the customers. if u ever have to do it again make sure you ask for a tix number that means it was entered
Comcast just tried to screw me in a different way. Spent 1.5 on the phone, bought the ultra tier 22mb package. No need to update the modem they said. Well, I didnt notice any difference after a few weeks. Took the modem back to the local office and they said that the ultra tier package isnt available in my area. Comcast is ripping people off. Wake up FCC!!!
every company has limits on its service u were probably downloading porn and uploading more porn then staying on ur internet all day and jerking off that usually causes issues im sorry but its the sad truth that people jack up there own equipment and expect service providers to fix it sad sad world guy
Even if that were true* a monopoly shouldn't just cut-off customers without a warning. The monpoly should be required by law to give the customer a chance to fix the mistake, and Comcast did not.
That's why the FCC slapped a fine on Comcast a few months ago.
*
* Comcast said he was downloading 250 gig a month, but the actual firewall data was only 70 gig. It appears that someone had hijacked his IP address, and he was unfairly blamed.
I've been with Xmission these last two years over DSL. We're also passionate advocates of Utopianet fiber to the home and are looking at moving to a Utopianet city if we're unable to replace the remaining City Council members and Mayor in the coming election.
Yeah, we're starting early :-)
Oh and Xmission has a 100 Gigs limit on bandwidth. I'm running vnstat on our linux firewall. We've been under 70 Gigs since I started monitoring our usage. Average of about 35-40 Gigs a month.
Actually It's been documented pretty good at Defcon 16 and Blackhat 2008. Basically they look at mac addresses. And it's REALLY easy to clone an address. They see traffic and think it's you. Basically network 101 stuff. They can see lots of traffic from the node but that's about it.
If you are interested in learning what's on those DVD's. I'd be happy to get you my wife's business number. The DVD's are your home photos and videos. We've been in business for years before comcast came.
ehhh... that's ok... I don't care what's on your wifes dvd's. I can't speak for comcast because I'm just a dispatcher. the only tool I can think of that can clone a mac address would be a router. Sure we can pull of your levels on yer modem, we can reset your modem and provision it..... we like to think we have a lot of control, but we don't. It's called Service Visibility Portal and just gives us statistical information.
That's one way. Check defcon 16. They spoke about using a type of video card which you can use to tap into the cable network and emulate another. It was a great talk.
I am suggesting I believe Concast doesn't have all the facts and I am aware of their monitoring limitations.
They see a mac address and a saturated node. They could always use tealeaf but then they should have been able to tell me what was going on when I asked had they used it.
you state:I pulled down the 7.04 Ubuntu repo (needed for development). you just admitted you are running a business from this account. a residential account. get a business account dead beat
hey... i'm a comcast dispatcher in florida.... i have an employee account and run a server through the service... you had to have done something more objectionable than running a server.... hmmmmm.... what's on those dvd's?
another dead beat customer wanting a free ride. You were using to much bad with because you were trying to run a server on there network you think they can't tell. you are naive.
Nope. We did not run a server. I'm curious why you believe that.
And if I wanted to run a server don't forget there are creative ways to hide that online. Perhaps you should check out the vids from Defcon15. I highly recommend it :-)
BTW, how much is too much? Oh yeah, silence is your answer.
Let's just say if you go over the bandwith limit you and everyone in your house has no life other than being on the Internet anyway. For me to exceed that limit and still have any sort of life would be impossible. It's in my view, impossible to reach unless you're torrenting 24/7.
Agreed. So what is Concast's explanation? No answer other than we used the Internet too much.
We signed up with a account which was advertised "Unlimited usage for a flat monthly fee". I didn't bother to monitor our traffic then (I do now). I posted our usage on the blog. We hit 73Gigs one month cause I pulled down the 7.04 Ubuntu repo (needed for development).
So we're not using 300 Gigs a month as claimed. And no way to speak with management to resolve it. That's because they are Concastic!!

My wife is from Ukraine. We subscribe to an internet service that allows here to stream russian television via the internet. She EASILY uses 5 or 6 gigs a day with this. We then have three other computers in the house. I deal a LOT with hundreds of High Res pictures a day which i upload and receive daily. 2 or 3 gigs from me per day. Then, you have netflix offering movies via internet, XBOX 360 being playes... 250 gigs isn't much when u use the service completely.
Comcast is nothing but a den of lying thieves. What kind of company pays it's CEO over a million dollars a year for 5 years after his death? It's no wonder that the value of Comcast errrr Commie-cast stock is half of what it was a year ago. They cancelled my internet... so i told them where they could stick their cable TV service too. I know how you feel. My wife and I fired Comcast after they terminated our Internet. After a year we still don't know why and they refuse to clarify it even to the media (Fox 13, Clark Howard Show, The New York Times, Get Gephardt and so on).
BTW, they asked why we were terminating the cable service. My wife said "because we might watch TV too much". They said that would never happen. Her answer? "Yeah, we've heard that one before".

I switched over to Qwest DSL and Xmission is my ISP (didn't go with the MSN Bundle). It's fast, I was up and running in 2 minutes after plugging in the DSL modem. It didn't take a Comcast tech to plug it in basically :-)
My family enjoyed putting the video together. Stay tuned for more. Based on our hand written notes from experiences we had with Comcast. We're hoping to keep getting the word out until the company comes clean with their real TOS/AUP policies.
Why didn't you go with Qwest as an ISP? They state their transfer limits as Xmission does (but they do it in as I call "Comcast terms", and using "typical sizes" of the stated types they list in the limit, it's in the region of 150-200GB/month), and as with Cox's limits, they go largely unenforced. Well Qwest does offer their ISP service without MSN. But that's good that Xmission has people that can speak on your level, not very many ISPs do.
Good luck with Utopianet. Utah isn't in Verizon's FiOS deployment map (as far as just states go) so that'll be great to have if you can get that to you. (I'm up in SE Idaho if you're wondering, the exact area a little over 200 miles north of West Jordan.)
