@leushy He sort of was. He had frequent bouts of stomach problems and didn't want to see an actual doctor, so he kept cutting out of his diet anything that made him ill until he was down to stuff like yogurt and granola and the like. So he had an effectively vegetarian diet, though not because he wanted to. A better question would be: "who cares if he was?"
