I bought a 445 1 watt off the forums too. I used this vid as a reference to know if it was really 1 watt...mine takes about 4 seconds to go through as well. I found that slightly unfocusing it made it quicker. Is that supposed to happen?
@rodman332 - Yeah that would be normal for plastic. As the laser is penetrating, it is melting the plastic. A beam set slightly wider seems to get through a little faster because it's a bigger space and the molten plastic probably can't get in the way as much as in a tiny pin hole.

Use googles but do it in front of your 1000$ sofa, and if you can on the carpet. Safety first!!!
