I guess I just don't feel sorry for them. Both my parents worked and we also taking university courses and I was the one taking care of the house and my younger sister, which started well before I was 13. The only difference was I still had to do homework too. Now I stay at home, cook, clean, take care of the baby and have no help for most of day. But that is the life of a stay at home mom and if it means my child is home with me and not in someone elses care I'm fine with that.

Noreen is so smart. She just made me realize why they go over board in their social events like weddings etc. It's because their wedding day is really all they've got to look forward to. Since they are not raised to be anything but housewives, they don't have proms, graduations, work satisfaction to plan for. Their wedding day is all these presumed special events in a country girl's life rolled into one for these girls & their families. I just got it.

I've watched a few episodes now, and I have to agree with the majority of the comments. But I how is a dress maker an expert on the culture? She makes her income from them, of course she will think highly of them! And telling every girl they look pretty must be the standard line, whether it's true or not.
It does seem like an oppressive culture, I know that we're only seeing one side of the culture in this series, but it does make you wonder.

@Skyebright1 ...how would illiterate, menially employed parents afford a multiplicity of expensive vehicles for their dubious offspring....throughout all these videos there is an extreme disparity between the earning potential of these very marginal people and the value of their possessions, and their social activities...scrap collectors and road pavers don't drive $50K vehicles or throw $100K weddings....i see only petty criminals masquerading as a "culture"

So they take the children out of school as to not tarnish them, most of these children can't read or write which is what EVERYONE should be able to do!! Yet they seem to be able to watch tv, watch movies, listen to current music, play video games, dress as "prostitutes" from a young age and dance provocatively.....how is this not tarnishing them as well? Its contradicting...

You all act as if they are offered the same type of education non-travellers get. If you look into it, the discrimination is so thick that most are shoved into special education classes/ classes for the mentally disabled just because they are travellers IF they are allowed into school at all. S would you want your child to have an education that basically involved learning what infants learn or stay home and educated them as much as you can that way?

I guess I just don't feel sorry for them. Both my parents worked and we also taking university courses and I was the one taking care of the house and my younger sister, which started well before I was 13. The only difference was I still had to do homework too. Now I stay at home, cook, clean, take care of the baby and have no help for most of day. But that is the life of a stay at home mom and if it means my child is home with me and not in someone elses care I'm fine with that.

Yall act like 18 is soo young to get married. It's not that crazy. I got married at 19 and my husband was 18. However, we are still educated! LOLHe's military and in military it's very typical to see a lot of young families. To me it's very normal to see a 24 year old with 2 or 3 kids and been married for years. I think it unnatural to see 30 year olds single and clubbing, and many with kids with women they don't care about?! Grow up!!
