  • Hey guys, i did a Ryan Adams cover on my channel, have a wee look! :D

  • Its sad to see the twin towers

    :-(

  • Everybody. You haven't lived until you've taken a roadtrip with Ryan Adams and the Cardinals - Cold Roses

  • Comment removed

  • This man writes the songs that are in all out hearts. What a talent. Why doesn't he rule the world??? :-)

  • I love this song!

I wish I could live in NYC, it's such an amazing city. Greetings from Sweden :)

  • 44 ppl thought it was Bryan Adams and didnt even listen the song!!

  • I miss you, New York! Every time I hear this song, I cry.

  • I think this video is the appropriate length.

  • <3

  • i honestly cant believe 1 million people havent watched this song, its such a good song, video, and i dunno special sound about it. ryan your a legend :)

  • Love this video. I can't forget that Tuesday... It was so sunny, and perfect. Then, everything was changed. When I watch this video it brings me back to to day before. I wish we could all go back to that day.

  • He is very talented, indeed.

I hear he gets angry when people mistakes him for Bryan Adams, but he should really change his stage name, then. Even if it is his christian name. But he gets a lot of extra attention that way, so I guess he knew what he was doing.

  • love this!

  • more to the point, this really is a tune.....

  • thats just what americans do, and being from right outside of new york the whole event really hit hard, so thats why i still bring it up

  • @itsagagasworld Fair do's, I can understand that it would have been a total mind-fuck. It would be nice however if there were less knee-jerk reactions to such things. We live in a pretty awful world, would't it be nice if we could deal with things in a sensible manner? but the powers that be just want to SCUD the fuck out of everthing. As I say, I can understand your situation and talking/typing can be cathartic. But endless shows on discovery are just to keep folk hating each other. Sad really.

  • @itsagagasworld Not that i'm in any way trying to label you with blame for the programming schedule of various companies who's best intrests are served by war and hate. That would be ridiculous. Sorry if it comes across that way, it is in no way intended.

  • @Dogfuckedthepope well said dear friend. i took no harm to your words

  • I though i'd pot again to stress the point that in NO WAY do I feel that Sept. 11 was justified or that the the people involved and their familys should have been so terribly taken. I just feel the way the media has been all over it like a cheap suit is unbeleivably disrespectful to all concerned, I mean, a FICTIONAL movie about it? Jesus, if thats not cashing in on an atrocity I don't know what is. What a world we live in when something like that is used as a tool to boost raitings. Heavy.

  • Mmmm. Speaking of New York City I fucking love this song!

  • This is not inspired by a little Marvin Gaye and chardonnay

  • does anyone realize this was shot 4 days before the twin towers went down. no one has said anything... its haunting, theyre just standing in the background, little did anyone know theyd be part of the ground in just a few days

  • @itsagagasworld that was the first thing I thought...the second thing i thought was "what if it had happened on THAT day?"

  • @itsagagasworld I imagine they do realise, but it's been 10 years, so people probably aren't as involved in the mass grief-wank anymore. I'm not angling for an argument, it was an atrocity and it was a meaningless loss of life BUT i'm pretty sick of hearing about it as if it's the only atrocity in the last ten years. Worse has happened and is in the process of happening ALL THE TIME. As a race, we need to sort out our shit in a more productive manner. Less bombs and outrage.

  • Great song about a great city.

  • you are amazing! :3

  • Genius, pure genius!!!

  • Its a shame music like this isn't as popular as terrible music like LMFAO and Lil' Wayne. True talent right here.

  • @aems24 pretty sure this got its fair share of play on TV and radio back then, especially because of the timing.

  • This is a great song and love that city!

Been there in 2003, never forget 9-11 r.i.p...

  • It's lovely to have a song associated with that time and place that is upbeat and reflective instead of being bombastic and mournful.

  • this is too bubbley and happy to be ryan adams :(

  • nice! i love it

  • Oh I looooove Ryan Adams how he is not so much bigger I dont know, Can't wait to buy my tickets for his concert. Reckon he will be one of the best live shows, ! Love him :P

  • 800,000 wievs :D

    Rebuild the Twin Towers!

  • BORN AND RAISED AND STILL HERE........WTC NEVER FORGET

  • i think of led zeppelin tsrts when i watch this esp no quarter. i've been to new york and i loved the place

  • Fuck Alicia Keys.

    THIS is NY.

  • I saw Ryan Adams perform yesterday evening in Brussels, it was his birthday. He played this song acoustic on the piano, it was heartbreaking. It was one of the most brilliant concerts i've ever seen in my life. Most underrated musician of the world.

  • @escaa13 Glad you enjoyed his concert. It was the same for me in Oxford in the summer with the Acoustic Nightmare Tour. I had never heard the new piano version of New York before, until he sat down and played it. One single night of pure perfection. True class.

  • @Fenner1976 couldn't agree with you more:)

  • Brilliant song

  • Question: why didn't we rebuild the Twin Towers as they were, albeit stronger and with a tribute to the victims of 9/11?

Why do we have to opt for a new set of buildings that make it obvious that we can't exactly move on from 9/11? We rebuilt Pearl Harbor as it were and it has a memorial. And people aren't complaining about the victims being insulted...

  • Twin Towers. ):

  • EVER SINCE I WAS A YOUNG BOY I PLAYED THE SILVER BALL

  • @JackJamesRowley I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME FROM SOHO DOWN TO BRIGHTON I MUST OF PLAYED THEM ALL

  • What an amazing vocal range he has! It's hard to believe that the guy who sang this also sang "Cuts Like a Knife".

  • @AaronMcGillicuddy Totally different guy. Though I hear that Ryan gets a little angry if you mistake him as Bryan.

  • @christianwomand I thought it was a stage name anyway just like one of the other guys on his album is listed as Eliot Johns.

  • @AaronMcGillicuddy that was Bryan Adams you dork

  • The song that started it all for me. <3

  • Never been to New York but if it's as good as this song then I'm in!

  • @MegaMetaljoe hahaha same here!!

  • @MegaMetaljoe

NYC is much better then the song

    come have a look...see

  • @MegaMetaljoe IT'S BETTER THAN THIS SONG

  • I am coming (again) New York City from Budapest :))))) only a couple of hours :) but still some hours :(

I love you so much and you gimme inspiration..

if everything is going on the right way, next year I am moving there...forever.:) <3

GossipGirl,SexandtheCity,BreakfastatTiffany's,Confessions of a Shopaholic,I don't know how she does it...so much girly movies..but New York City is not only for women!!! NewYork is the city of BIG DREAMS (yes, fashion) and POSSIBILITIES!!!

  • R.I.P Chris Feinstein.

  • Such a good song, but at the same time sad. I miss the former skyline of New York City!!

  • I'm so glad that I accidentally found this not so well known but sooo talented guy... hard to believe that this song is 10 years old, a great, timeless indie piece!

  • Such a great artist! Im a musician too and would like to ask you all to listen to my own made song too. You can find it on my profile, much lovex

  • I'm not american. I'm spanish but everytime I watch this video tears fall from my eyes. If I were american I'd be extremely proud of this video. I hope I could some day visit USA. God bless you.

  • The towers are still in the background. :'(

That's a big fuck you to the Taliban and Osama.

  • NY is the best...fuck the coast west!!!

  • 4 days before 9/11 :(

  • If i could only tell them what would happen on the 11th :/

  • oh, the twin tower?

  • Comment removed

  • song is great and all, but he really could of showered and brushed his hair before the video shoot. just sayin.

  • Heartfelt song, amazing ..love new york xxx

  • Hipsters... Hipsters everywhere!

  • september 7th is my b day yeah!

  • Now, now, the Canadian Government has apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions!

  • great song!

  • great song!

  • This video was shot on the day my sister was born :)

  • @EnriqueVendetta Umm... so?

  • @azrock4ever Because if you're a New Yorker like me, then you would know that these little thingsare memorabilia. duh :)

  • @EnriqueVendetta How does a date that a video was made and a birthday have ANYTHING to do with being a New Yorker?

Being a New Yorker isn't like saying you're royalty, ya know that right?

  • @azrock4ever Its something to celebrate you idiot. this was shot on a big day for me and my family. Why don't you keep your opinions to yourself and just listen to the fucking song? Go ruin someone elses day.

  • The most underrated song on youtube.

    definitely should be more views..

  • Did you know this videoclip was made 4 days before 9/11 ?

  • I came here to hear a good song not to desicrate this video by spaming it with coments of the world trade center. "11-7=4" really?

  • Cheers to the only man alive that can skillfully fit as many words in a song as can Elvis Costello. For that alone, he deserves awards.

  • I haven't seen this video in years until right now, and I just bawled my eyes out. just saying.

  • As much as i love this vid, having the Twin towers almost constantly in shot feels like being repeatedly gut punched

    It's a great tribute though.

New York i miss you and can't wait to go home <3.xx

  • That a serious discussion about WWII and the us economics starts in the comments around a awesome song is just sad...

  • The only reason it became #1 was because of 911 but mad prop's for fucking mandy

  • The most errie part for me is that it was filmed Friday Sept. 7th 2001 which means there was only one full World Trade Center business day left, which would have been the up coming Monday the 10th and at the time of the video shoot it was the begining of the last weekend that they the towers stood.

  • WOW, how timely is this! I finally searched and just discovered about Ryan thru a promo leaflet in Johnny Cash's American V album. most excellent music, i'm sure he cites Cash as an influence!

  • shit was this actually shot 4 days b4 the twin tower atack?

  • @MrRareGameUnboxer 11 – 7 = 4, yes, well done.

  • @MrRareGameUnboxer Yes, Sept. 7th, Google it, Trippy.

  • 4 days before the 11th goddamn

    love this song

  • Born and raised in NY, now living in Los Angeles...this song may be about a girl, but for me its become the anthem for a love affair between myself and city...one that will never die. Far from home, I'm always thinking of you, I'll always love you, though, New York.

  • NEW YORK FOREVER.

  • Comment removed

  • Shot from bklyn waterfront. love the 6 train at 1:26. Took that for curry 3 days a week. Love NYC.

  • this is the song i will always remember after 9 / 11 it really touched me love ryan adams !

  • I still love you, New York <3

  • god bless you all 10 years on always in our thoughts everyday.

  • New York City! Greatest city in this world with spirit that never dies.

  • @claytonsufc - opening few bars similar to 'I've got a Feeling' - Talent borrows, genius steals

  • The towers stand out so much in the background. Never forget.

  • @dandymandyabc Yeah, never forget the day the US government crashed two planes into the Twin Towers killing thousands of innocent civilians so that they could wage imperialistic wars in the Middle East.

  • God Bless NEW YORK have a good day New York. Love From Charleston SC

  • Great song and interesting timing ! R.I.P. all killed in New York, Pentagon and United 93.

  • for New York, take a little time today to reflect

  • THANK YOU

  • I've never been. But I'll always love you, New York. Never forget. Peace & love. God bless.

  • It's so fucking sad that this is one of the greatest music videos of all time, and yet it has under a million views. ;-(

  • Please take a break and say little prayer for the peoples we lost.

  • It's been 10 years...He made history with this awesome song

  • New York, we're all with you at this time. What a song.

  • Just been listening to this on BBC Radio 2 and they said that this was filmed just 2 days before the attacks on the WTC.

Guess this song took on a whole new meaning on that day.

  • Anybody think the riff is a rip off of 'I've got feeling' by The Beatles? Compare for yourselves...

  • @claytonsufc I have compared it to the Beatles "I've got feeling" and, er, no, not really hearing it. Close I suppose but certainly not the same at all.

  • @claytonsufc no.

  • I love New York too...

  • I like how this video is 4:20

  • 10 years ago today. 4 days later, the world as we knew it would never be the same. And this song, instead of being about a girl, takes on a whole different meaning...

  • This was shot on my 16th birthday. A coming of age, and what a period to come of age. Happy 10th anniversary to a wonderful music video. Something to celebrate, at least.

  • @AdArmand My 26 yo old born 9/3 sees it a bit differently. He realizes that it's a far different, polarized world since 9/11. He laughs. He worries. He's a fine young man and he knows oh so well that it's a far different time that when I grew up or his older cousins.

Just another side to a story of coming of age since 2001.

  • @JustJake57 - thanks Jake. I hope your son reads that!

  • vietnam was in 'problems' and Us came to 'help'

  • This guy went to my high school. Lol. He's not from New York by the way. Good to see he loves it though.

  • like like

  • Wow, lots of comments, and lots of ignorant stuff as usual. Not being a New Yorker myself, but watching from afar... I would have to say FUCK YOU to all the people who don't respect what this is...a good vid shot days before the attacks. Go Go Ryan A.

  • Is it true this was filmed September 10th 2001?

  • @adrianwills September 7, 2001. It says so at the beginning of the video.

  • great tune..

  • i bought this album like 3 or 4 days before september 11th, i was cranking this song on my car radio, when i got home i turned on the tv, and saw the attacks on the world trade center, later on that night i put this cd on, had a drink, and said a prayer for all those who were lost!! god bless those people and the healing power of music to bring peace to us all!!! AND EVEN THOUGH IM FROM BOSTON AND A DIE HARD SOX FAN, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE NEW YORK!!! GOD BLESS AND PEACE!!!

  • Wow this was filmed 4 days b4 9/11

  • The video was shot Friday September 7 2001

  • Poignant, beautiful song.

  • It's still number one, it's NYC!

  • Dig city footage... and of course ryan! ( ;

  • I really like this video response by Steve Katz. He's very good

  • really like this video response by STEVE KATZ (for the first time) check him out!

  • Thats like the same spot that the video from Paradise City from GnR

  • Could you PLEASE stop talking about fucking 911 and listen to Ryan Adams. THANK YOU.

  • 29 people are... O, wait, those jokes aren't funny.

  • Straight To Hell

I try to love spiritual things

    But they don’t travel well

In fact after a couple of days

    Life on the road

    Usually sends spiritual things

    Straight to hell

    M.S. Morrison

    Angels and me don’t mix

  • This is spooky.... how may times they show it.

  • wow, listen to Steve Katz (stevekatzmusic) in the video responses....i'm a fan, glad I came across this guy

  • I don't now if he realizes how lucky he is

  • Oh for fucksake, since when was this song about 9/11?? It's SO not! Yeah, it's a nice celebration that this video has them in the background. 9/11 was tragic, hell I'm english, have never been to New York and knew no-one involved, but it affected me.

But ultimately, this song is about the wonderful life of a city! Maybe specifically New York, but it feels like London to me. Beautiful song, one of the most talented and raw songwriters on the planet. That's why it's good, not because of 9/11.

  • @TheParanoidAndroid1 he is using New York in the place of a girls name. the song is kind of about ny but more about a girl he was with from ny

  • @okimball1 Sounds like both to me. it certainly says more about a place than person in the lyrics... Anyway, my point still stands.

  • @okimball1 the girls name is New York

  • Respond to this video... *girl's name, sorry just woke up :)

  • four days after bye bye towers

  • I love this song and respect the video and what it's about and all....but dude could of brushed his hair for the video lol

  • Comment removed

  • woops... brain fart... september SEVENTH, my bad.

  • September 11, 2001 was a Tuesday, not a friday... someone's lying here.

  • todd sent me here

  • Comment removed

  • It's really freaky that this was filmed just four days before the attacks. O.o

  • With all of the emotion that followed 9/11 and peoples fascination with this song, Ryan Adams made one amazing album.

  • the video might have been released on the internet before the album came out.....

  • Listening to this reminds me once again how much I love this city...

And for the record, the video was released more than two months after 9/11, on November 26th.

  • This song is 4:20 long ;)
