  • Enjoyment &spiritual appreciation of music is cultural &personal. He referred to 7,11 songs (same 7 words repeated 11 times); what about Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah? Definitely 7,11. He's suggesting that only hymns are spiritually strong music--not right; but it IS in line with cultural perspectives. Also defining types of rhythms as appealing to the extremities while other rhythms appeal to the waste area is absurd &reveals his limitation in musical knowledge--affirmation not information.

  • @jwin1123 your kidding right "his limitations in musical knowledge" u say..Doug seemed to have a fair good idea on not only how to play some instruments, but he spent his childhood with his mother, while she wrote songs for well known singers. And this is not the first time I have herd this been said, and there can be such a thing where whole nations have been lost to the meaning of good spiritual music. Look at most of the world now days and tell me it isnt spiritually dead with the wrong music

  • @WakeupFreinds I don't question his musical ability or knowledge of music that is most familiar to him. I am not angered with anything he said; BUT his assertions are myopic. His words support a cultural taste of musical purity. It is only cultural not factual as presented.

  • @WakeupFreinds ...."Good Spiritual Music" begins in the heart of the composer and CAN blossom in the heart of the hearer. However, the hearer's interpretation of the song does not grant spirituality to a song but the "spirit" is born in the hearer's heart; not the music.

  • what about jazz? many jazz musicians were christians and jazz cant be any more syncopated

  • Historical correction: there were Classical concerts where there was violent behaviour and police had to be brought in. Also, minor keys are used in a lot of cultures' music; it is not always the case that minor=sad, and major=happy; the concept of major and minor is not inherent in a lot of parts of the world.

  • I like his presentation style; quite endearing. He has tried to be fair. I have to confess I skim watched, so my comments may not accurately reflect his content, but 2 things I picked up on: 1) he compares 'Praise & Worship' to the traditional hymns; they are not to be compared- they are 2 different styles; it is not the number of different words in a song or the beauty of the language God is looking at. Remember the parable where the Pharisee prayed in ornate language, the publican (continued)

  • Interesting points. Tenor of sermon is true but it is wrapped around opining. Ironically, this is more a feel-good sermon, much like some of the music he is describing; affirmation not information.

  • now, amm-i thru again..well, see. no matter how wonderful a man isor how many billions a man gives up yet still blinded by the error of any doctrine then teaches it..in that same sheep like fashion..as a matter fact type context doesnt make a bit of difference..when judgement comes. take the chance..wait die n SEE.

  • Very good sermon. Very Biblical, even though there are not too many verses about music in the Bible.

  • lol i wish i went to his church :D very nice video thx for uploading

  • ya really dont understand go watch listen to dougs stuff..get to know him from whats offered ...then read my post again.. theres 3500 words squeezed inside a utube 500 character limit post..it does depend upon depth perception of an inividual to able themselves an understaning of things such as...otherwise post as these will be somewhat incoherent ...salvation is strict..conditional...serious business. heed or dont. eternity facts arent pleasing to the ears ...batchelors doctrine is.

  • @dubvishun your out there bro. Im not SDA but thier doctrines are solid and biblical. The reason you dont believe them is because you wont follow true doctrines of the bible.

  • @douglasdolly

If you believe their doctrines are solid, then why not become one? But I definitely agree with you on the fact that people who reject the doctrines do so out of a desire to live a sinful life.

  • @FearNoWeapon777 yea, too bad the majority of those happen to be calvies, jws, sda..etc..whereas those who have searched & discovered how strict conditional salvation truely is & how the sin must stop..suddenly stumbling upon another doug sda sermon filled with itching ear sin all ya want error & not be compelled to post & see the seared reactions of devil drivin false christians respond in defense..couldnt possibly have had an ear to hear the one true doctrine in the first place... ya know.

  • @douglasdolly YER 100% WRONG..i know truth & will have it much worse in judgement unless i heed..sda is kind to the ears..loved by MANY..kinda like the "im special" calvy doctrines romans eph outta context itching ear errors found only in the main stream church {WHERE U DEFEND}..the true gospel cannot be bought or sold in that realm today {WHERE I DEFEND}. most have the mark like U -i admit while u hide behind ->" it sais it in the bible by dougs definition & it reads that way..i guess".

  • @dubvishun OOPS!! Not all thier doctrines are true and solid, I agree with ya,,,, see how we can be decieved if we dont thoroughly discern? I was decieved!!! Im not denominational,,, strictly bible now

  • @douglasdolly

  • @siclucky Hey I got a question. I have a friend on youtube who is interested in hearing what a Seventh Day Adventist is. I was wondering if you have a video that is simple to learn with like an introduction to Adventist.

  • @austintex117 thats great to hear....you can check out my page I have a bunch of stuff from various pastors....I also have a sermon entitled: Who are the Seventh-day Adventists by pastor Batchelor that would be a good place to start.....(ww.youtube.com/watch?v=1PI5cq-ThVo) God Bless!

  • @austintex117 seventh day adventists are 'bible christians' every word they follow.

  • @EaszAz I don't remember what I said sir.
