"...and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
"And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.'" And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, " Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
I thought this was a catholic church...and what do u mean they are more respectful than Catholics? The most, Christ worshiping and centered worship, is the catholic mass....
@Grmario85 Its the church of England (Anglican -Episcopal).Katherine is a member of the Church in Wales (Welsh Anglican) The Cathederal is at Norwich in the South East of England.
How many congregations do you know that speak Latin? Adeste Fidelis wouldn't make a great anthem in my opinion, it's one of the most loved carols, the congregation want to get involved, and if the choir has a competant director the descant can sound wonderful. It's a pity this choir doesn't have a larger soprano section.
I come from a South America and I never knew in my life someone who can speak Latin. Latin is dead language and the mother of the Romance Languages (French, Romanian, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish), but the only place that I know Latin is usually speak is the Vatican and only as a tradition between the highest hierarchy of the Catholic Church members. Anyway the most important is that we can appreciate a real nice voice (like this)instead language and pronunciation.
"Written originally in Latin, 'O Come All Ye Faithful', it was penned as a hymn by an Englishman called John Wade. In Latin, it is known as 'Adeste Fideles'. Another Englishman called John Reading composed its music in early 1700s, which was first published in 'Cantus Diversi' in 1751. Rev. Frederick Oakley translated it to English in 1841."
LOL! Another braindead opera fan. No one cares what you think of her "technique". She is singing an English hymn in English, anyway, it's not an opera aria. You are all bullshite. Her diction is fine. It would make no difference how she sang, you would still parrot the same bollocks -- her technique is bad and her diction is bad. LOL!

Very God!!!
Did the lyricist fall asleep during second verse and the tea boy filled in? He abhors not the virgin's womb?!?! What does that mean?
Damnblastify 1 year ago
@Damnblastify 'He abhors not the virgin's womb?!?! What does that mean?'
It means he doesn't reject the virgin's womb. Christ was carried in the womb of a virgin. God was happy about it!

There must be lots of Latin speakers in Latin
America. (At least according to Dan Quale, one of Reagan's sidekicks/toadys).
I know the words though I don't know Latin very well.

No-one SPEAKS Latin. However, the Reagan administration
in Yankland believed that people in 'Latin America'
spoke Latin. Bush probably believes it too!

The Latin version is moribund:
"Written originally in Latin, 'O Come All Ye Faithful', it was penned as a hymn by an Englishman called John Wade. In Latin, it is known as 'Adeste Fideles'. Another Englishman called John Reading composed its music in early 1700s, which was first published in 'Cantus Diversi' in 1751. Rev. Frederick Oakley translated it to English in 1841."
When have you ever heard it in Latin?
Sqid101 4 years ago 3
I have various recordings of it in Latin, including
one by Perry Como.
Like "Still Night, Holy Night" it should be sung in
the language it was written in. The latter in German.
nordland37 4 years ago 2
Oh, it should, should it? It should be sung in the language it was written in? Begorah! This is going to revolutionise the singing industry.
Sqid101 4 years ago 2
@Sqid101 Sung in Latin by Bing Crosby in1940
