If, according to him (and has somewhat sociological truth), Hip Hop was a force that helped bridge the divisions between races in America and the world and therefore do good, which all the Civil Rights and religious organizations couldn't do, then you have to also come to the conclusion that just as a great amount of good can come from the genre, a great amount of evil can also come and create the same amount of negative impact on communities.
@MrMontanarealtyco my god you have to come on every instalment of the vid and say the same thing over and over??? how about this , the Chinese invented noodles and the Italians took it and poured some sauce over it and called it spaghetti.........dayyuummm

@Cadillacpimpin314: The difference is that back in the day, there was genuine expression in the music. And there wasnt JUST gangsta-type stuff. You also had De La Soul, Public Enemy etc. Nowadays, the music is so formulaic. Today, the "gangsta" element is a big corporate machine which dictatesthe entire genre. Everybody is just jumping on the badwagon and when it becomes a trend - the thing to do - it becomes a problem.
I do not want to blame white people, but the reason hip-hop is like this recently is because people in the suburbs listen to fake hip-hop and get the wrong idea of it.
Kids in the suburbs claim that Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive and is influential, but if you come to where I live, there's almost nobody that even listens to Lil Wayne. See, what artists like Wayne does is to sell-out, present the "gangsta" style in most pop-ish way and get the people to buy into his shit.
This is one of the most embarcing programs and points of black history. Looking at this I see why don Imus said what he said. This is not just a panel of hip hop
this is a panel of socalled black america know or not "so called" they picked the biggest misfits they could find that where dumb enuff. I am black and i think blacks need to go back strugglen for a while. The strongest black america was pre civil rights era. thats my peace let me know how you feel
for the record im black!!!! master p ruined rap, i hate down south rap but he made a good point, these rappers arent talking about any positive role models, ive never heard a rapper mention al sharpton or delores tucker in a good way. fuck rap it needs to be banned.
@richardkennard im black too..i've seen plenty of footage of Al Sharpton. He's an arrogant demagogue that thinks that he's the voice for black people. As for banning rap, that's the least effective, silliest plan i could think of. Rap is only a manifestation of problems within urban America and these problems will continue whether there is someone to rap about them or not.
@richardkennard: Delores Tucker attacked rap, so youre not gonna hear a rapper shower her with compliments. And Al Sharpton is a bit of an idiot, lets be real. I agree with your point about rappers name-dropping positive role models, but your examples were a little off.
im white (hell, im australian :P) and i like rap, and to be honest i try not to take into consideration the race of someone. like, i listen to the music cause i like it, and i get the lyrics, and respect the people who had harsh upbringings, etc for like reaching success, but dont pretend im a gangsta, or dont stereotype a race, etc.

Ahhhhhhhhh! They said exactly what I said after I made the comment. Benny said it perfectly. Are people ashamed of themselves? I wish I was on this panel.
Why do these people act as if they are crying out to whites? Wow. Do you really care how people view you? Especially based on someone else. I mean, think about it. Who are they talking to? Blacks? No... They are clearly speaking out to White America. Is the esteem that low? I mean come on. Who cares. If they are ignorant to view you based on a rap video, I can assume all whites are murderers based on Friday the 13th. Grow up kids.
Is what souja boy just said "real talk"? Fa real Mr. Soulja boy? Fa realz!? Are you being real when you say real talk or are you really? Really? Oh, now your confusing me...on some real talk :P
I like the woman who says, "I don't like n*****s. I like black people." My friend doesn't like it either when others are, like, "Hey, my n*****." She gets pissed!
It's always funny when anyone decides to judge, . . . .stop pointing the finger. Hiphop never was the reason, it's the scape goat. Your mind is the target and most of are getting picked off, because the lack of education, or the level of comfort in dumb shit.
its the truth they do get diss by our people but some of these guys are claiming to do things that they sure as hell arent doing living in 3 million dollar homes and kids going to private schools there really is a big diffrence between beinga rapper and a hip hop artist some of the music that is out right now is pure and utter garbadge just because you can make words rhyme doesnt mean you are a rapper and if you dont like the music dont buy it then complain about it
why are we even talking about this we can say whatever we want about anything but people will not change if they choice not to. so you can blame this and that but can you blame yourself first?
Tell me why everybody be talkin about how hip hop exploit black women? The women love that ish.... They have an opportunity to say no to doing the video. You cannot turn a hooker into a house wife. You take away hip hop, women will still find a way to shake their rump for money.
haha i love black singers music and im white about 95% of my itunes is black singers music.
tbh idk why we can find a difference in color of skin if i gave u a black Ferrari would you hate it? because it black no... and if i gave you a white Ferrari would you hate it because it white no...
anyone els agree that fools like solja boy are the problem with hip hop today, boy can bairly string a sentance together, i heard he tried to diss lupe fiasco, c`mon mahn, really?? feck off
if ur a white person and ur comparing ur "culture" to being better than "black" culture ur a fucking idiot bc the fact that u are even COMPARING shows that u see some paralells bet the 2 groups or feel some kind of low self-esteem u feel u need to raise.
prolly cuz ur poor living in a bad-average living situation w shit else better to do than to realize WERE ALL HUMANS AND POVERTY AND LOCATION INFLUENCE U MORE THAN ANYTHING
2:49 ahahahahaaaa I don't like niggers, I like black people! It's true, these rap 'actors' that you see on MTV and Vevo are probably just little bitches being told what to do by white executives at Universal records. This new rap image is a giant facade. Little kids are getting fooled by the cars, women, jewelry, and the damn pink clothing at one point!! LOL!
Since the rise of gangsta rap, it's been a downward spiral. If you're a teenager or a twentysomething, I understand, but when I hear people who are my age acting confused as to why the quality of the music is what it is, I just shake my head. When rap was mainly house party music for black kids in the ghettos of NY it was fine (sort of), but when rap started to be a tool for black self determination (mid to late 80's and early 90's) it was a problem.......It's actually pretty straight forward
I really don't know why this is so hard to understand by those of us who remember rap/hip-hop music when it started. The music was fine when it was house party music (Sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow etc...) but when the music became political and more socially aware (Eric B and Rakim, Public Enemy, X-Clan, Brand Nubians etc...) and challenge the white power strcture the powers that be were not going to tolerate it. Enter the late 80's with NWA and the whole gangsta rap genre from Cali.
@Aztecblood619 dance music was around well before Soulja boy, he is just the most talked about. It seems that hip hop started going down a little after the south took over. Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz did their thing, people then started seeing that they don't have to have great lyrics, they just needs hooks & beats & southern hip hop followed suite. I don't blame Lil Jon because it was his art, I blame all the rip offs that couldn't be creative & decided to copy Lil Jon to make money.
@GSPRKY You have a point, but if people say the South ruined hip hop when it was on top, what does that say about the other regions that were below the South at that time? Shouldn't they be blamed for being worse? If people say Southern music ruined it.
@phamrecords Uhm, Lil John, Ying Yang twins, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Turk, Juvenile. You know, the bling bling and get bitches era, the beat over the lyrics.
@ILUVJEZUZ94 So that's your reason for southern music ruining hip hop? Artist have different styles and the same can be said for every region of music.
@ILUVJEZUZ94 That's your opinion, and garbage music is everywhere.Including New York, so don't single the South out when music sucks everywhere period.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you already stated yours, so let it be.
@phamrecords it has nothing to do with all the other regions. The big wiggs don't want to play controversial music so they play dance music with very little lyrical content. If that is all they play on the radio, that is all that a lot of fans will hear so the south, being that they're dance music was a majority of the dance music that was played, took over.
@GSPRKY What I'm saying is that people can't put all blame on the south. There are plenty lyrical southern artist but they don't get radio play. They use someone like Gucci Mane to categorize the whole region, which isn't fair.
@phamrecords I understand what you're saying but I don't mean the whole south. There are lots of good southern artists like Z-Ro, Trae, K-Rino, Devin the Dude, Big Hawk, ect. Big wiggs aren't putting real rappers on the radio anymore, they aren't putting them on BET or MTV neither. Dance music isn't very controversial & can be listened to by a larger audience with little to no backlash.
ima start with sayin that i'm white but i grew up in a poor land. south of romania. now that i tough maybe tougher than in the states. so i now how it feels to be poor and have do to illegal stuff to keep your stomach full, so it really touched me when professor cornel west said "white brothers and sister". cuz at the end of the day we all brothers and sisters if u believe in religion. we all came from adam and eve so we all the same. stop hatin on each other!!!
5:45 i'm not white but yea u do have to care about what white ppl think. hate to say it but the white men runs the country. Yea Obama is president but that's one branch of power. There's more to the country then just the president. And ppl forget that Obama isn't 100% black he still is half white.
Why can't these people say RAP?! It's Rap that's evolving. The whole Entire Hip Hop Culture?! Are Rappers even doing most of the things out of Hip Hop instead of Rapping? Thumbs up if you agree. Seriously.
For BET to do a segment on "hip hop" is a joke, just like sucker free Sunday by MTV. That shit is hip pop and far from hip hop.. don't mix up the two... Hip hop is far from dead and FAR from the bullshit played on TV. The sad thing is people claiming they listen to hip hop when it's weak MCs on BET.. Real hip hop has roots, elementals, a foundation, not this whack radio bullshit of weak MCs claiming they're hip hop. You guys need to learn what hip hop is cuz it isn't played on radio,MTV or BET
If white people are buying the albums, they are influencing what albums sell. Therefore they are influencing what gets played on BET. Therefore they are influencing what black kids think.
So either rap contriols what white people think about blacks, or the white people will control what the black kids think.
The ARISTOCRACY has no other motive than to bleed the poor dry and they don't care that we're black as much as they care we serve their interest. They just want our money and our servitude from the time we are born broke and dumb to the time we die broke and dumb.
The country is moving toward and in lots of cases is already in a state of ARISTOCRACY. Hip-Hop, Movies, TV news media, newspapers, internet, anything that gives you information through the use of technology, is ENTIRELY owned by that ARISTOCRACY. The black community DOES NOT own Hip-Hop, it only appears to be ours because it so-called reflects the way african americans live. I don't live like that, but the rest of the world would never know it because the ARISTOCRACY would never show it.
it seems like afro americans suffering of lo selfesteam and no confidence thats why they have to talk like this, ohh white people stole rock from us they stole pop.. thats not proggresive at all. Thank god for europe
@hallucinogen12 white people should thank every other race on earth because if it wasn't for us, there would be no europe. the white race wouldn't exist.
@sholeizugly really.. ok brother, really? like i said this is not progressive. But you do what you need to do to feel good. Its sad brother.. were all human beings and in this together but to sit and talk and basicly saying were better then the rest because of your colour, theres no such thing as race only colours. theres a book i think you might be intrested in its called mein kempf. your talk is close to racism. Peace
@teetsistheman your right we all are in this together we should be benefiting off of some of the proceeds but noooo but it's some individuals rather deal in with the race cards and keep each other low level thinkers SMH!!
"What do you think about the scene of Hip-Hop you comin in, in a time when it's changin?" Wow bitch... don't you mean, in a time when it's dieing and hanging on to dear life? THIS IS NOT HIPHOP!
wtf is it with hip hop and colours? we should crush that aint doing nothing but holdin us back hip hop dont have no colour why cant we just be one people not black or white people but just be people? people im white it dont matter you can be any colour man but what matters is what you think as a movement are you saying that no white people supported king jr? hip hop is about one people making the steps to enlighten other people of the struggle.....thumbs up if im sayin the truth
T.I didnt know what the fuck he was talking about lol

CALICOTV301 9 months ago
I agree with Russell. Hip Hop has done so much for race relations. People aren't looking where they should be looking.

Tell me why everybody be talkin about how hip hop exploit black women? The women love that ish.... They have an opportunity to say no to doing the video. You cannot turn a hooker into a house wife. You take away hip hop, women will still find a way to shake their rump for money.

When rap was mainly house party music for black kids in the ghettos of NY it was fine (sort of), but when rap started to be a tool for black self determination (mid to late 80's and early 90's) it was a problem.......It's actually pretty straight forward
derals869 11 months ago
I really don't know why this is so hard to understand by those of us who remember rap/hip-hop music when it started. The music was fine when it was house party music (Sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow etc...) but when the music became political and more socially aware (Eric B and Rakim, Public Enemy, X-Clan, Brand Nubians etc...) and challenge the white power strcture the powers that be were not going to tolerate it. Enter the late 80's with NWA and the whole gangsta rap genre from Cali.
derals869 11 months ago
I think since soulja boy kame out, hip hop started bekoming more about dancing n bullshyt.
Aztecblood619 1 year ago
@Aztecblood619 dance music was around well before Soulja boy, he is just the most talked about. It seems that hip hop started going down a little after the south took over. Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz did their thing, people then started seeing that they don't have to have great lyrics, they just needs hooks & beats & southern hip hop followed suite. I don't blame Lil Jon because it was his art, I blame all the rip offs that couldn't be creative & decided to copy Lil Jon to make money.
GSPRKY 1 year ago 9
@GSPRKY You have a point, but if people say the South ruined hip hop when it was on top, what does that say about the other regions that were below the South at that time? Shouldn't they be blamed for being worse? If people say Southern music ruined it.
phamrecords 5 months ago
@phamrecords No, Southern hip hop killed music. It was on top because it was new.
ILUVJEZUZ94 5 months ago
@ILUVJEZUZ94 How did southern music kill hip hop, and it wasn't new.
phamrecords 5 months ago
@phamrecords Uhm, Lil John, Ying Yang twins, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Turk, Juvenile. You know, the bling bling and get bitches era, the beat over the lyrics.
ILUVJEZUZ94 5 months ago
@ILUVJEZUZ94 So that's your reason for southern music ruining hip hop? Artist have different styles and the same can be said for every region of music.
phamrecords 5 months ago
@phamrecords No, most of the garbage rappers are from the south.
ILUVJEZUZ94 5 months ago
@ILUVJEZUZ94 That's your opinion, and garbage music is everywhere.Including New York, so don't single the South out when music sucks everywhere period.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you already stated yours, so let it be.
phamrecords 5 months ago
@ILUVJEZUZ94 THANK YOU YO!! THANK YOU!! That's what I've been saying for years.
TEACHYOUTEEWHY 2 months ago
@phamrecords it has nothing to do with all the other regions. The big wiggs don't want to play controversial music so they play dance music with very little lyrical content. If that is all they play on the radio, that is all that a lot of fans will hear so the south, being that they're dance music was a majority of the dance music that was played, took over.
GSPRKY 5 months ago
@GSPRKY What I'm saying is that people can't put all blame on the south. There are plenty lyrical southern artist but they don't get radio play. They use someone like Gucci Mane to categorize the whole region, which isn't fair.
phamrecords 5 months ago
@phamrecords I understand what you're saying but I don't mean the whole south. There are lots of good southern artists like Z-Ro, Trae, K-Rino, Devin the Dude, Big Hawk, ect. Big wiggs aren't putting real rappers on the radio anymore, they aren't putting them on BET or MTV neither. Dance music isn't very controversial & can be listened to by a larger audience with little to no backlash.
GSPRKY 5 months ago
@GSPRKY I agree, and I'm glad you can see what I was saying.

They just want our money and our servitude from the time we are born broke and dumb to the time we die broke and dumb.
trumpetman 1 year ago
The country is moving toward and in lots of cases is already in a state of ARISTOCRACY. Hip-Hop, Movies, TV news media, newspapers, internet, anything that gives you information through the use of technology, is ENTIRELY owned by that ARISTOCRACY. The black community DOES NOT own Hip-Hop, it only appears to be ours because it so-called reflects the way african americans live. I don't live like that, but the rest of the world would never know it because the ARISTOCRACY would never show it.
