  • good info, thanks doc

  • i have to see a physical theropist, i havent been to my first session yet, but i hope it ends up working so i dont have to get surgery yet!

  • Yes, I think conservative shoulder stabilization, with exercises and physical therapy examination by a licensed physical therapist, should definitely be tried before surgical stabilization.

  • will i be able to do benchpress and shoulder press again after proper rehab without shoulder stablisation surgery? if not, with surgery will i be able to do those exercises?

  • @massgilms It's hard to say - were you injured in an accident or did the bench presses and the shoulder presses contribute to the instability?

    Tim

  • @cervelo58 did it in a rugby tackle, never had a problem with shoulder before

  • @massgilms Damn, I dislocated my shoulder the same way. No prior shoulder problem... fucked up shoulder for the rest of my life.

  • @massgilms ditto. :)

  • His tie is way too long... a tie should end at your belt buckle =)

  • Thanks so much for doing this video. It's much better than trying to go off printed sheets!

  • Hello, I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this video. I learned these techniques in physical therapy a while ago, but I stopped doing them and forgot everything. My shoulder has been weak ever since, and this video is enabling me to re-strengthen it! Also, my physical therapist didn't explain how to put the band in the door like you did, which was extremely helpful. Thanks for your video!

  • Thank you for the videos. It was just what I needed.

  • Very informative video.

Metriks' FCE software allows the healthcare professional to objectively quantify and report on a person's functional abilities.

  • ted. my 15 year old son is a high school pitcher. He experienced some pain recently after pitching a full game. MRI & Xray show no damage. Ortho suggested 2-3 week rest & PT exercixes.

Do these exercsies help rehab mild shoulder injuries?

  • How often can I do these excercises? Everyday? How many pounds of resistance should be used for the bands?

  • tim, i had an "open" shoulder stabilization surgery about a year and a half ago, would these stretches be good to regain the flexibilty in mt shoulder?

  • Hello, I have some awkward clicking noise when I try to circumduct by left arm. Whenever I perform bench press I have some slight pain in my left shoulder. How long should I rest for and what excercises should I do to strengthen the joints.

  • okay i notice that you havent made a comment in a while but i hope you can get back to me. I have had two rotator cuff surgeries where i ended up re injuring myself, and about 6 months ago had the laterjet procedure done if you know what that is, if not i can explain it or you can look it up. i dont have too much trouble carrying things at work and what not, but i want to get back into boxing and jiu jitsu VERY badly. please help me get my shoulder strong enough to make those a hobby again.

  • @vintastic319 Not sure what I can do. Have you seen a physical therapist?

  • @cervelo58 not after this surgery. 3 of them have left me somewhat strapped on cash, i was hoping you could tell me how to tighten up "everything" in my shoulder. I'm not very concerned with my range of motion, I just want everything holding my shoulder "in" to be as tight and secure as possible and I don't know how.

  • @vintastic319 Can you make a video of yourself raising both arms overhead, holding your arms straight out in front of your body and (if possible) performing a push-up? I'll need to understand how your shoulder functions in order to make a recommendation.

Also, any recommendations I make will be very general. Since I cannot evaluate you to understand your particular condition I can't make specific recommendations.

    Tim

  • @cervelo58 i thought that you are a physical therapist? as you said at your video?

  • great thanks:)

  • Great video but i have a question. A few years back i was lifting doing incine dumbell press, i lost a little control of the weight and it jurked my arm down, ever since my right clavicle looks different then left, it runs strait almost down and feels now like it get in the way on lifts, ecspecially chest. It is now very hard to put muscle on my right side and my left is now bigger, what can i do? PLLLease help, so annoying. Thanks so much

  • your tie should never be longer than your shirt, never be over your belt.

it looks sloppy. just so you know.

  • @wubs23 don't be such a prude. let him rep a tie however he likes..

  • @milkfred im not prude. i am merely stating the 'rules' in companies. since he is a doctor, he should look sharp.

be glad that im saying it, now he can change it. im not hating or anything, his advice is still amazing =)

  • hi tim

i have shoulder imprigment , for past year been going phyiso but had little success, i decided to get self help so i did research and came across some webistes with helpful excerisises , am now better a lot better infact i could even say that its nearly treated, however is this right that scapular is the foundation of your shoulder ?

  • @maciekb931 Yes, scapular training is essential to long-term shoulder function. Push ups are very good exercises. Standing push ups against the wall are OK if you can't do the regular kind

  • @cervelo58 thankyouu , should i do roatator cuff exercises as well ?

  • Will this help with my r/c?? or will anything else be more effective

  • I m working on it : )

  • thankYou for posting : ) if you can pl.post more : )

  • Thanks for posting this video Tim.

I've felt my right shoulder pop out of place when i fell off my bicicle in 2009, iam weightlifter and my shoulder pops 5 times since then. Here in Portugal physical terhapist and doctors are negligent and only provide me x-rays and say " your shoulder is health, just stop training" obviousthis is not the solution for the problem. what kind of examens should doctors ask for this kind of injuries Tim?

  • great video Tim very useful indeed!

  • should I continue the shoulder rehabilitaion process orjust stop?

  • Well i had been diagnosed with little leaguer's shoulder about 7 months ago so the doctors gave me an elastic band that's different from yours to do the shoulder rehab exercises...i start doing them for a week, sadly i forgot to keep doing it afer that, but i have been taking care of it. I still have pain, but when i had another x-ray test, it showed i dont have the syndrome anymore, but the pain still comes on and off from resistance training and such. Im expecting an MRI in Jan 11 or so...

  • ptunited.com has the best prices for PT products

  • Hi after impingment surgery i have regained rom but when i roll my shoulder back and down there is crunching and movement in my scapula. Also i still have weakness and a little pain when holding weight in my front deltoid

  • This guy, is awesome.

  • Try to do the exercises at least once per day - stop if it hurts too much although a little soreness is to be expected. Two weeks should be enough to see an improvement. If not, maybe you should see a physician or a physical therapist for an evaluation.

  • @cervelo58

Can these exercises be done for rehab after should dislocation?

  • @Creekezona Mid-range exercises with light resistance (red or yellow) with Theraband are particularly effective early after the acute pain of shoulder dislocation. If the dislocation was 1st episode or traumatic you should have your self evaluated by a physical therapist before any interventions.

  • Thanks to this video I can remember how the exercises should be done. Many thanks!

  • I had shoulder surgery a year and a half ago (anthroscopic) for shoulder dislocations, but for my own reasons i didnt go to physio at all. I havnt injured it since because im not active at all. Is it too late to start physio now? I mean is the surgery only helpfull if i had started the physio exactly when i was told? thanks

  • where do you get the rubber band?

  • @sam0004 i m wondering the same.. do physiotherapists sell it.. or lend out to people they r treating?

  • If you just had surgery you need to follow your surgeon's advice. You need to DO exactly what you surgeon suggests and AVOID doing anything not recommended by your surgeon.

Physical therapists often treat people with shoulder problems but once you've had surgery your condition is out of my hands.

Your surgeon may choose to refer you to a therapist at which point you will follow the surgical protocol.

    Tim

  • Your right I shouldn't use 'idiot' but I see so many patients with shoulder problems that go on you tube and get poor advice like u are giving here that I at my wits end. If u put info on here then it should be accurate and up to date, and exercises do go out of date when research proves they are ineffective like these isolated cuff exercises, and for christs sake they are working the cuff and are def not scapular stabilising,

You are demonstrating internal and external rotation of the glenoh

  • @ACPM74 Hi I just wanted to offer my point of view. I am a physiotherapist in Australia. I don;t believe in an all size fits all kind of approach with shoulders. Altered scapulohumeral rythm these days is what all the buzz is about. but the causes are multifactorial. You rarely ever see a symptomatic cuff tear without asymmetrical scapula mechanics. Regardless of what the research says, assess your patient, determine what the likely cause of theire altered mechanics is and fix that.

  • Hi Tim, I've just had key hole surgery to stabilize my shoulder, i've been given a few simple exercises to do which i've just tried for the first time and the pain is almost unbearable, is this normal? it was recommended i put ice on my shoulder for 20 mins prior to exercise but i didnt want to get stitches wet as the plasters are only splash proof. Any advice?

    Thanks.

  • @ACPM74 As the title suggests, these aren't rotator cuff exercises but scapular stabilization exercises.

Exercises don't go "out-of-date" but the knowledge base supporting their use in specific populations is continually updated.

You sound like you have a little knowledge - why don't you try to restrict your comments to a more professional level rather than using terms like "idiot" if you disagree with or aren't clear about the meaning of the video?

    Tim

  • @ACPM74 I searched for your video that would be helpful. Did not find it. I thought for sure, you would make a positive contribution like cervelo58 has done. I look forward to hearing you spit out those big words.

  • Tim,

I'm Az7yQ and I couldn't find the link, but I found the link at the Medical Arts Rehab website. Just to save you time answering me.

    Pat

  • Hi Tim,

Great video! Some of these are exercises I used to do for my left shoulder which has healed. Now I have inflammation of my right shoulder, which only started recently from an injury 6 years ago. However I can't find the link like another poster. Could you please find out why there's no link? I tried watching the video and drawing stick figures, but the exercises are moving too fast for me. Thanks a lot.

  • The physician prescribed pain killers and massage therapy. That got rid of most of the back pain but not the arm pain or tingling and the massage sessions are done. Nerve pressure from C5 and C6 area. Just looking for ways to help relieve that pressure. More massage? Exercises or movements that might help? Any sleeping positions that might also relieve the pressure? Thanks.

  • @pasadenapembo Your physician may have underestimated the seriousness of your condition if she is expecting massage to improve radicular nerve pain. Exercise may play a role but two interventions that are evidence-based that I would try first are cervical traction and thoracic spinal manipulation (NOT cervical manipulation).

Sorry, I cannot recommend a chiropractor - you should see a physical therapist skilled in spinal manipulation.

Let your physician know the hand is numb.

    Good luck,

    Tim

  • First it was a painful back and upper arm. Now it is just a painful upper arm with a lot of tingling in the forearm and especially in my thumb. Any good exercises to relieve the pressure on the nerve to relieve the pain and tingling in my arm?

  • @pasadenapembo The nerve pain is starting to refer further down the arm - DO NOT EXERCISE - carefully proceed immediately to the nearest physician for an examination.

    Good luck,

    Tim

  • hi tim im 20 years old and used to be heavily involved in martial arts. two years ago in training i teared my rear shoulder muscle. i went to physiotherapy got better then stopped out of losing hope. but now my shoulder has healed but the muscles are kind of weak and not in the right place, and my doctor told me that the only thing thats going to make it right is rehab exercises.

can you please tell me if the above exercises are a part of what i should be doing? thank you.

  • I lol'd at 3:20

  • You have a serious condition - before giving or getting advice on the Internet you should see your local physical therapist. Most insurance companies will now allow to direct access without a physician's referral.

    Tim

  • I broke my shoulder, arm and a couple of ribs in a car accident nine months ago. Now being held together with titanium, but bones healed, mostly. It's getting better every day (now arm not stuck to my side like glue BUT still can't lift/straighten more than hip height. Can you please recommend some exercises for this? Or will these six exercises work eventually? Thanks :-)

  • Any chance that you can email me the link for the 6 exercises. Thanks Tom

  • Can I please get the link to the printed exercises?? Don't see it on the video area.

    Thank you Kris

  • Thanks a lot for your help Tim. I will try to do these exercises. I fall by doing snowboard 3 weeks ago and as the doctor said my clavicula was 4 cm away from my shoulder but I didnt have any fracture. He said that if I just let my arm still for 3 weeks, i´ll be good again to start my sport lifestyle. Today a just feel pain on my shoulder when i press my hands agaist eachother. Also on the end of my trapezis(close to shoulder) looks like a bone when a put my arm backwords.

    Anyway, thanks for

  • Thanks for the demonstration. Useful!

  • Hi, I really like your video. I was just wondering ,my shoulder had been dislocated a couple of years ago and became unstable since then, I've been to a physical therapist before and it got a bit better but after I stopped the exercises the pain came back after a while, I think it became chronic. Will this exercises help me stabilise my rotator cuff and shoulder blades? Also if it's alright I'd like to ask for your advise.. Many thanks!

  • @timueki0 With traumatic shoulder instability you should think of the exercises the way your dentist advises you to think of flossing your teeth - this may require adjustments to your lifestyle to permanently "fix" the problem, (eg: daily exercise, avoid the position of dislocation). If you are unable or unwilling to accept these conditions then you can consult a surgeon.

Try the home exercise diagrams at MedicalArtsRehab (dot) com under the Shoulder tab.

    Good luck,

    Tim

  • @cervelo58 Thanks for your quick reply! One more thing, I have this "The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Guide" but haven't tried it, I wonder if it will be good together with your own exercises? Thanks again Tim!

  • @timueki I also bought "The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Guide" available at MedicalArtsRehab (dot) com/arm-exercise-videos (dot) html

I buy these books and videos to check my own knowledge base and to discover better ways of presenting these simple techniques to my patients.

"The Ultimate Rotator Cuff Guide" is a nice blend of easy-to-read explanations for patients and some technical knowledge for the trainer, beginning PT or ATC.

The price is right and the format convenient.

    Tim

  • Thank you very much for sending me the link to the printed exercises!

    Cathy K OTR

  • Where can I find the link to download and print these exercises?

  • @dianemoserowitz You can find the home exercise videos that accompany this video on my web site at medicalartsrehab (dot) com/arm-exercise-videos (dot)html

  • @dianemoserowitz

I need the printed material. I see the video.

  • Great video, thanks! :)

  • Hi, thanks for the video! Do you still have a link to print these exercises? I could not find it.

    thanks

  • @18roselover The free, downloadable PDF is at my website on the shoulder page medicalartsrehab (dot) com/arm-exercise-videos (dot) html

  • @18roselover No problem, Cathy. These exercise only work if people know about them and then do them! Let your friends and family know about these free resources. The shoulder stabilization exercises should work within a week or two. Use ice for any tenderness. If you don't have results them you will need a comprehensive evaluation by a physical therapist or a physician.

    Good luck.

    Tim

  • This man looks like a young Jeremy Irons.

  • A SLAP tear may be a contra-indication for exercise.

A physical therapist should be able to make the decision NOT to provide exercise and refer you to an orthopedic surgeon. Depending on the acuity of the injury and the grade of the tear, the surgeon may recommend exercise, surgery, bracing or rest.

  • I have a recent SLAP tear of my labrum. Are these the same exercises I should be doing as well. I am a college baseball player. Thank you

  • This is a pretty pointless video... I mean you make no effort to get good form

  • @bucko06 He's making examples... geez

    You sound that "bucko06"

  • Didnt see any printout of exercises on your link.

  • A sling is often required by the specific surgical procedure or a particular surgeon. I often recommend that the patient discontinue the sling as early as possible but this discion is driven by the surgeon, not the therapist.

    Tim

  • I just got shoulder surgery, I had a 360 degree labral tear. My shoulder would have the tendancy to sublux (dislocate) when throwing a ball hard or any kind of fast movement. I'm only a week out of surgery and looking foward to my first physical therapy.

Wondering if you might know. Do I lose the sling or will it still be required after my first appointment? Looking foward to doing the excersizes you demonstrated.

  • It's not being a good knot lol, big ol fat know....good you did it all in one take

  • damn cnt wait till i get my degree ima be the coolest physical therapist out there lol

  • I seprated my ac joint two months ago, and dont have money for therapy. So i was wondering if these excercises would be good for my seperated ac.

  • thank you for this - it is appreciated

  • hi tim

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Tim. Thanks for this and I will try these at home. How often do you do these? Daily? Also, my shoulder pain comes about when I press, or when I make a motion similar to pouring a glass of milk with a gallon jug into a glass held in the other hand. That rotation is what does it to me. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

  • Just got a band. This is very helpful thank you! I have just had Arthroscopic surgery 2 weeks ago, so after 3 weeks will be doing these religiously

  • i would rather die and never do the stretch exercies, even if my shoulder will recover, its dead end, stretch exercises = for weak,

before my shoulder dislocated, i used to bench with 400 lbs

so i cant imagine working with strechers at all,,,,

  • Please post some exercises for scapula stabilization my left scapula and shoulder is too up and left , I also have scoliosis to that side, thanks.

  • Tim I really like these exercises how might I get a copy of the sheet you refer to?

  • Thanks for posting these videos. They're really great. I've had a weak left shoulder from left hooks in boxing at the heavy bag. I'm going to let up on the boxing and try these exercises to see whether they get my shoulder back into shape!

  • i popped mine out three times all wrestling and horsinaround with my cousins i dont know what degree i have dough. is it possible to have this fixed?.. i havent tried therapy

  • i had to do a minor operation on my left neck. my doc called it biopsy.. after that surgery iam feeling pain to raise my arms.. they say my arm's muscle are cramped. does this therapy help?? please suggest.

  • I had a bad car accident new year and been told two of the five nerves in my back shoulder are severed, the other three 50%. I can't lift my arm, elbow and wrist still very swollen. Will the shoulder ever get better? Thanks

  • Thank for the info Dr.

  • Would these be for like an AC separation? I had a grade 2 AC separation six weeks ago, I don't have any normal day pain, but can't do pushups, throw, or do any wrestling at all. Unfortunately my health insurance was cancelled about a week after I did it so I have not been able to seek further assistance, the doc put me in a sling for four weeks, so I think I should probably start doing some rehab now.

  • Anklepick1987,

If you're up to it post a video reply of yourself raising your arm overhead, reaching behind your back, across your body. reaching forward and touching the back of your neck.

Wear a tank top and shoot from the front and the back. Remember to steady the camera and shoot in full daylight.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • @cervelo58 I can try to get a video up of that tonight or tomorrow, I did these excercises today and was alright for most of them except having the band at shoulder height and pulling acrossed my body was very painful.

  • where are the exercises to print and download ?

  • where is the link to download the exercises to print out?

  • cont.. And because I roll it in myself, my muscles may be healing wrong. My muscle feels like mush at times to be honest and very tender. So I may start trying your exercises, and get a shoulder brace. One thing I miss is swimming..I can't do this now.

  • My DR wants me to go to through therapy before thinking about surgery. This scares me because my shoulder easily dislocate. I put on a coat to fast...it dislocates, I pick up a blanket to throw some of it on my feet..it dislocates. It's obvious I need surgery. To me Its just wasting my money to go to a person who says " yep, she needs surgery"...I already know this. And because my shoulder dislocates, I roll it back(from back to front) in myself (gravity helps with this).

  • Surgery is not like buying a TV - you can't take it back if it doesn't work for you. The surgeon needs to consider ALL factors before she puts you under - are you obese, do you have heart problems, are you psychotic, neurotic or just plain weird?

Your case sounds like an open-and-shut surgical stabilization so what else is missing?

Post a video response putting on a coat, lifting a jug of milk overhead and doing a push-up and I'll let you know what I think.

    Tim

  • I can't raise my arm above my head in initself not alone with a gallon of milk. Maybe I will see a therapist, I'm just scared he or she will accidentally dislocate my shoulder to see how far I can go in certain direction. and when it does dislocate that THEY will try to put it back in. I need time and courage to put it back in. It's very painful. Last time I dislocated my shoulder, my fingers started to tingle and that scared me. I try not to lay on my back now because of that.

  • Hi I have had pain in my shoulder the past couple months and had an MRI done. The doc said I have Bursitis and tendonitis in the shoulder it's been pretty painful and sore and I haven't been able to work out because of it. My doc wanted me to do some therapy but I don't get off work in time to do that so I am glad to find this video. Would these excercises help with my problem? I am also on Nambutone 750 mg 2 x a day how long do you think till I'm back to my old self?

  • Steve,

It might be helpful if you uploaded a video of your shoulder movements (shoot from the front):

1 - push straight up overhead

    (shoot from the back)

2 - hold your arm straight out to the side

    3 - do a push up

4 - reach up your back

5 - hold both arms straight out in front of you

    Tim

  • Hi Tim, Could not find the link to download excercise chart. Can you please post the link. Please respond to this message. Much appreciate. Thanks so much for posting the video.

  • Very helpful! Thanks for your time and input!

  • i feel pain when i rise up my hand overhead ( i have a injury in rotator cuff last 2 months )after i rest it and do exercise with elastic band if i do pull ups i improve my shoulders mobility??

  • cyberpt is a website i found that helped me a lot

  • ya im 15 and have a bad shoulder because im on the 4th best volleyball team in canada and we play alot. beter get one of these, dont wana have major problems when im older

  • Start out with a yellow or lightweight band, do very little at a time, in the beginning then move up to stronger bands.

  • Im a phisyotherapist in Peru, I am glad that you put this video...for the patients to know more and more and know how to do correctly every exercise! thanks!

  • will this help a chronic shoulder impigment problem?

  • yes it would i have to do them like everyday for the rest of my life yay what fun

  • Would these exercises be good for me if my shoulder constantly pops out of place? like if i have chronic shoulder instability.

  • Very nice, but why don't you ask a friend or somebody else to become you cameraman?

  • I dissolacted my shoulder 17 days ago is it safe for me to start these movments? or how long should I wait? I think I can do some of them but the over head one i think is no good for now.. thanks for the video.BTW

  • No my nephew dislocted his shoulder and I took hin to a Orthopedic he had an mri noting turn he has worn humerus. He said he had to have at least 6 weeks healing on a brace before he starts physical Therapy. You should get yourself checked you might have a Labrum tear or Rotator

  • thanks alot for posting this video it realy helps to have this video considering when im at my physio i have poor conncetration and can never remmber the exact potions 5 stars

  • as soon as they fixed my right shoulder its perm nerve damage and numbness but tis better then having pain of dislocation. i had both arms done :)

  • =.=

    my physiotherapist....

  • very good,

my right shoulder was injured during tennis game.

after having around 2-month physiotherapy, my physiotherapy recommended me to do the exercise which is similar to the video.

  • VERY similar to what my chiropractor had me do a few years ago. It definitely helped with my shoulder pain. Going out to buy a new band this weekend so I can start doing them again. Very helpful.. Thanks for taking the time to post this video ! :)

  • WOW THANKS DOC

  • best exercises for shoulder stbilization I found so far on youtube

  • Suggestion. Have patients take steps along with the movements of the T-Band. This is because when you raise your arm, the contralateral side contracts and by stepping you are working synergistially

  • Thanks man, your a good bloke for putting this stuff up for free, I'm broke.

  • Thank you Tim

    Pretty clear

    I appreciate your help.

  • Thank you, great info.

Regarding the last two exercises can dumbels be used instead of the elastic band?

Also assuming that I do not have shoulder problems can the exercises be used with heavier weight for muscle building with the added benefit of shoulder injury prevention ?

  • I wouldn't try to use too much weight.

Realize that stabilization is usually done at slow speeds with good technique and a focus on co-ordinated movements.

Motor control is the goal of stabilization exercises.

Strength building is all about weight and reps and 'git-r-done'.

The two goals are complementary but not consistent.

You should not try to substitute one exercise for the other.

    Tim

  • Thank you so much

    very helpful

  • thank you! very much indeed!

  • hi... i just recently dislocated both my shoulders while working out. I was doing behind the neck military presses and both shoulders just popped out of place, dislocating the. Im really terrified of dislocating it again. I heard that giving it the right time to heal and with the right rehab, i could diminish the posibilities of happening again. I have also heard that in order to prevent future dislocations i would need surgery and thats it.... I dont want surgery.. any advice?? thank you

  • hey most of the shoulder dislocation occurs anteriorly & inferiorly means forward & download. & external rotaion is the major cause contrubution it. bankarts lesion is made aftificialy to split the anterior capsule of choulder & attach firmy to the tip of glenoid cavity.

  • I had 2 Bankarts in 10 years after 25-30 dislocations ame shoulder- 1 open 1 w/a scope , 2 docs, both pro-sports team surgeons. I dislocated it a month or so ago- 2 years after the last surgery. I would rather take a gunshot than do it again, it occupies every moment of my life. :(

  • Thanks for the vids. Very informative. Where can I print out those exercises? Ever since I was 10 I was able to dislocate my shoulder & pop it back in myself. Never knew how much damage it would cause me when I got older. Now, every 2-3 years it will pop out by itself and pop back in immediately. Very excruciating. I don't have insurance or loads of $. So i've beeh trying to rehab it myself. Any other advice you can help me with?

  • Thanks!

  • thank you sir for your vidio.

  • Thank you for the free helpful info

  • thank you for your video !

  • How many times in the week do i have to do those exercises and for how long?

    David

  • Thank you! Dislocated my shoulder 2 months ago but also damaged the radial nerve. Physio prescribed focused mainly on the nerve aspect with TENS treatment, so this is really helpful. Could you also explain what you mean by colour of bands? I have a green coloured band.

  • Very informative Tim,

I have had shoulder surgery on one of my spinatus (not sure which) a while back. I am trying to workout again and having troubles (weakness) with my shoulders. This should be very helpful.

Also, comment to archangul. I have heard in the weight training circuit that this condition can be remedied by training your upper back muscles gradually in order to pull your pectoralis majors back into a comfortable range. Hope this helps.

    Thanks again Doc.

  • hi cervelo58

i'm currently studying a sports course at college and have bee asked to produce a rehabilitation plan for a dislocated shoulder and found this video very useful but was wondering how many repatitions would be needed so as not to overload.

  • Nickyboio17,

I have my patients do 20 reps, 6 different directions.

Progress the resistance by changing the color of the Theraband.

No need to increase the repetitions since each rep is slow and controlled, watching for substitutions.

  • He must be payed well. Jesus Bless this man!

  • you should have a rolled towel underneath your arm while performing internal rotation exercises, this places the affected arm in the more functional position

  • Gashmstr718,

Great tip. Of course you're right.

We usually do have a rolled up towel, just as you suggest.
