actually I visited Mittelbau-Dora last year... Mittelbau-Dora is where they built the V2 Rockets in underground Caverns. The Nazi's built Special Launch Sites in France to bomb London, I also visited this train layout... what you see in the beginning is a layout of the former East Germany. There were other halls depicting US countryside and an Orient Express train route begining in London and terminating in Istanbull.
A lot of thought has gone into the planning for this layout. What I like is that, rather than the railways tending to dominate the scenery, the lines tend to fit into the scenery in a realistic way. Cool maintenance gantry, too; I bet a few modellers wish they had one like it.
very nice could do with a fleet of british class 55 deltics running on it though, maybe all 22 that were made , they were the fastest diesel in the world , thanks lovely layout
I was once in a mc donalds that had a moving train with a track that went around the whole inside. it was pretty cool. the train would choo choo once in a while also.
Amazing, I've got LOADS of boxes full of track but I've not used it in years your actually inspiring me to set it all up again and make a full scale track
Check out the model train set called the miniature Wunderland in Germany (yes it's spelled with a U) I have a train set I am starting on my Picverse. I agree with some of the other posters bigger is not always better. I like realism and scale. That being said this is a nice set no doubt.
Smaller and more detailed is better. The problem with most model RR's is they pack too many trains in per scale. It becomes as if we all had lines and strings of cars everywhere. Less is more...
If I ever lived in an area with that much locomotive industry.... I'd move. I would take my perfectly good road vehicle and leave that madness to a place where not every neighbour I meet is also a train driver... oh sorrry, "engineer".
Really great vido, showing a good impression of Wiehe model railroad, and they are no longer the biggest layout, Miniturwunderland at Hamburg is definitly bigger. But we can give them the titel "first biggest model railroud in Germany" and shurly the Wiehe-layout made the first step in a new future of model railroad layouts like Hamburg and Berlin. I had seen Wiehe about ten years ago, and it's really worth to be seen, I also visited Loxx at Berlin, but after all Hamburg is the greatest.
Why so critical? Just because they dont run it exactly like you want to run yours doesnt mean its bad. The idea of model railroading is to have fun with it. It looked like they were having fun so there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way they are running. I think the bad parts are the stupid comments from a narrow mind.
Really cool track and I really like the spiral track to get the trains to go into a different room, but I just cant get excited about electric and diesel trains.
there are steamers you know here i can see tons in this video if you cant spot one maybe you should check a picture of what a steam engine looks like.
"Really cool track and I really like the spiral track to get the trains to go into a different room, but I just cant get excited about electric and diesel trains."
you dont say it but you implie it by saying that you cant get excited over diesel and electric trains.
Yeah, how dare someone does what they love for a living. What losers, they should get girlfriends etc. instead of getting paid to do exactly what they want...
Personally, I like to re enact train wrecks like derailments, head ons with model trains all at excessive speeds. You should try it. It's so much fun.
LOL, as much as i hate to waste the money. i agree. its great fun to watch. anyone who saw the addams family movies knows how much gomez enjoyed it XD! if onyl they were made witha thin metal, so they even crushed, and crunched XD!!
awesome. however its the one thing that model railroad enthusiasts always forget and will admit to. you will never see that many trains in one place at anytime specially in country settings. takes away from the realistic aspect that they are always trying to achieve. again awesome setup though

Simply fantastic. The maintenance bridge shows the size of the layout. The scenery is unbelievable and the trains speed is perfect.
