  • Great version of a great song :)

  • Breathtaking. Now my favourite version and a haunting video.

  • I too, like this version, I can see why people pause for a second , you put the message of the song over so powerfully

  • Thanks for the comment. When we used to do this in the folk clubs and at concerts there was always that gap after we had finished before people would clap. We used to be scared and a little disconcerted by it but we realised it was the power of the song and the fact that people needed the time to digest what they'd just listened to. There is definitely something primaeval about the tune and it was good to know that people really liked our version of the song.

    Thanks again.

    Tony

  • Hauntingly beautiful, thank you for finding this version, I've been looking for ages.

  • I suppose it's all about hope and contrasts and, for us, it seemed to fit. It has been really heartwrming to get comments like yours, verybody has been so supportive about the song.

    Thanks Tony

  • Beautiful arrangement and video. I'm not so keen on the middle jiggy bit, purely because I love the more melancholic sound. But that doesn't take any thing away from how much I enjoyed it :O)

    Thanks for posting.

  • So don't you bid me farewell here, no farewell I'll receive

For you will lie with me, my love, then kiss and take your leave

And I'll wait here till the moorcock calls and the marten takes the wing

For the snows they melt the soonest when the winds begin to sing

  • The snows they melt the soonest when the winds begin to sing

And the swallow flies without a thought as long as it is spring

But when spring goes and winter blows, my love, then you'll be fain

For all your pride to follow me across the raging main

  • The snows they melt the soonest when the winds begin to sing

And the corn it ripens fastest when the frost is settling in

And when a woman tells me that my face she'll soon forget

Before we part I'll wage a croun she's fain to follow it yet

The snows they melt the soonest when the winds begin to sing

And the bee that flew when summer shone in winter cannot sting

And I've seen a woman's anger melt betwixt the night and morn

So it's surely not a harder thing to melt a woman's scorn

  • This is an interesting variant on the words and thanks for taking the time to post them.

If you put "The snow it melts the soonest lyrics" into a search engine you get quite a number of different versions.

    Thanks again.

  • Thank you so much for your comment.

  • Love it!! This was used on BBC One's Tess recently. (not this version but I like this version too)

  • what are the words to this song? plz plz plzzz answer i really wanna sing this @ a harvest thing next yr

  • I loved all if it! The music, the video. Just super!

  • This is a beautiful atmospheric arrangement of this tune. I love the use of the drone and counterpointed mandolin. This has given me some ideas for my own arrangement, and made me homesick!!

    Thanks guys
